Week 15 Wildcard Post: Columbus Comicon
I had the pleasure of attending the Columbus Comicon this past weekend. It was in a huge convention center downtown, and they had a huge number of celebrities including movie actor, musicians, and pro wrestlers. I only got one autograph because the lines were long, but it was still fun (except for the long drive home). Have a great holiday!!!

Week 15 Question 3 Reflection Post
I think my honest favorite part of the class was the video content. I am a visual person. I like to read, too but more for leisure than school. It is a little easier to understand the messaging form the videos and they are a bit more concise.

Week 15 Question 1 Reflection Post
The most interesting thing I learned was in Chapter 4 of Social Media Strategy where it discusses the process for creating a successful Social media plan. I to showed social media to be much more complex than just posting things on your mind. It showed you need to really understand your target audience by conducting a formal study process to gage their wants and needs. You need to listen in social media as much as talk.
The other part I liked was the discussion on social media influencers in Chapter 6 which inspired my project. I never realized the economic part behind their content. I had seen them before online but did not realize many are part of a structured marketing campaign by major companies. I found it interesting learning what traits makes them successful and applying it to my project subject..

Week #12 Application Post, Question 3
I am a big Coke fan and decided to mention issue with my pop to both Coke and Pepsi. I tweeted to them that I purchased their product at a Grocery store and it was flat and dint taste right.
Coke responded in a day and requested further info around purchase location and some numbers of the can they could trace. They said they would try to understand the issue and offered me a coupon for my next purchase.
Pepsi responded two days later and only offered me the coupon. They did not seem to think the issue was worth understanding.
I thought Coke's reply was more timely and seemed to take the issue more seriously. Pepsi just wanted to make me go away witht eh coupon.
I could not really tell by the response who was managing the response. It was probably just a Customer Service group for Pepsi while Coke may have been involving Production with the info they were requesting from me.

Week #12 Application Post, Question 1 (Crowdsourcing)
The example of successful crowdsourcing I fond was a competition started by General Electric to get ideas for Clean Energy solutions.
ecomagination | GE News
Innovators and startups from around the world responded with ideas and 20 were selected by GE for investment. This included new and better ways to use wind, solar, and hydroelectric energy.
Crowdsourcing with social media is very effective as it reaches a global audience for a specific task without directly hiring them long term. Some employers and some employees may not want or need long term commitments for certain tasks.

Week #10 Application Post, Question 3
My career interest is in Film and Digital Media editing. I researched on the job search site called Indeed. There appeared to a lot of overlap with Social Media. Many companies needed someone to edit media for posting on their Social Media site and some wanted you to do both roles. One example was from Slick Sluggers Boxing in Mineola, NY. They posted for a position with the following job Roles: "We NEED a Reliable, experienced social media editor to record, edit and post things to our FB, IG and YT to stay active on Social Media and help our account grow as Well as a Digital Marketer who is familiar with FB Ads, Canva, SEO and Updating Websites ."

Week #10 Application Post, Question 1
I am a big fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Kevin Feige, their President, has used Social Media successfully to attract people to the franchise. He is a macro-influencer with 583K followers on X/Twitter. He seems to use branded content as his most effective tool mentioning new Marvel movies while also mourning the loss of significant Marvel actors and noting Marvels charity work. He embeds video clips to get you wondering just how much better it might be on her Really Big Screen. He is effective because of his executive insider status that allows into the Behind-the-Scenes world of Marvel that not everyone has access to. He could be more effective in giving you insight into future projects and not just ones that have already come out.

Week #9 Application Post, Question 1
I chose to look up the 3 companies/brands from the auto industry: Ford, Chevrolet, and Dodge.
Ford had 1.4 M followers on X and 17M followers on Facebook. It posts regularly on both but not everyday.
Chevrolet had 1.1M M followers on X and 22M followers on Facebook. It posts regularly on Facebook but posts seemed dated on X.
Dodge had 1.2 M followers on X and 5.3 followers on Facebook. It posts regularly on both but not everyday.
Overall, I found Dodge's approach most effective as it is focused on the product and why you should be excited about it. It directs you to their Customer Care Social Media for specific issues about your own vehicle.
Chevy and Ford's sights blend in bragging about their charitable efforts with their product information. It also has many comments from customers with complaints about their own vehicles (which they do try to address). While this is important, I do not need to see this while I am trying to research their products. It is distracting and should be separate.

Horror Movie Genre Lecture
Tonight, I attended a Lecture on Horror Movies at the Carson Library by Dr Daniel Compora of the UT English Department. He talked about how horror movies brought fears of urban crimes out to the suburbs. He referenced some pretty famous villains from the movies Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street. Just in time for next week!!

Week #9 Application Post, Question 3
My Facebook page feed is a good example of programmatic advertising. It is focused on two major areas: Political Ads and Pop Culture merchandise. The first is likely due to the fact that there is an upcoming election and I am a younger demographic that the Democratic party eagerly pursues. The second is likely that I buy a lot of celebrity autographs and movie collectibles online. It probably tracks my usage and tries to get me to buy more items.

Week #7, Question 1
One example of viral social media marketing that helped both a company and a band in sales was the Tik Tok user singing the Fleet wood Mac song, Dream, while drinking an Ocean Spray beverage. 26,000,000 familiarized themselves with Ocean Spray by watching at the time and "sales" of the songs increased dramatically. The company sat back and observed at the time while Mick Fleetwood decided to get into the craze commenting on hs own Social Media. Ocean Spray Seized Its Viral Marketing Moment Like It Makes Its Juice: Naturally | Entrepreneur

Week 6, Question 3
I am still developing my Linked In account so don't have a link to it yet. I do think the tip about adding skills and getting endorsement would be helpful for attracting employers. This shows your skills like a resume but add the part of someone's else confirming you have those skills. I would also like to incorporate the idea of adding "carrots" when making connection requests. As I am interested in the Film industry, i could suggest meeting someone at a local Comicon.

Week 6, Question 1
I think I would use the advice from Suggestion # 17. I feel that I am a very unique person with a special way of saying things. I will definitely try to make sure all my digital comments highlights my best qualities that are distinctly mine. I make a lot of my own YouTube videos so i have plenty of opportunities to practice this..
