Hi, welcome back to Ixchel Rambles about his art, LOL.

I've been a fan of Splatoon for a few years, but never really thought of making fan art until This Guy showed up in 3. Favorite character. (I got some choice words about him.) This is OLD art from 2023, when Side Order originally came out.

I know it's not how the Spire works, but I remember thinking, "Wouldn't it be cool if, depending on the palette you picked, you could battle against the owner of it? Maybe their consciousness could *also* get sucked into the Memverse and you could get them out." But really, that was me just scrounging ideas for how to get more Murch content.

Gave him shades ('cause Splatoon really likes using those for 'hypnotized'/brainwashed characters) and a sick white suit that could get drenched in ink as the fight progresses. I also thought the Luna Blaster was a stupid weapon, so out of spite, I gave him the Undercover Brella since we don't know much about him, and I take him more as a long-distance/defensive guy.

I severely hated Hugo for months before I made my first fan art and went:

i just keep seeing hugo fanart. and some people say he’s ugly and he is. he is kinda ugly. but the more fanart i see the more i think “oh no, he’s hot”

No ur right lol. Cyrus = Disney-fied Pyrus (dragon). Pyrus came first and so did Hugo but then they were used for VAT7K. Kay still uses him tho

Remember how, a while ago, I was talking about unpopular VAT7K ships? I don’t know who else could be shipped in VAT7K without it being weirder than this, but. Regardless.

OKAY. I’ve already aired out a LOT of my opinions on here, but I feel like Hugo and Cyrus are either toxic or really cold on the outside and warm on the inside. Hugo, as everyone knows, hates forming close relationships because he doesn’t know how. He sleeps around, leaves when it gets boring, and then never has to worry about it again. Unfortunately, he was stupid enough to get caught up with someone in close proximity.

Maybe it was alcohol, maybe it was tension. Who knows why they got caught up together. I couldn’t tell you. (Though, you’d think I’d put more thought into it since this is my ship, right? Get back to me on this question in five business days.)

Then there’s the distance… Hugo goes on the VAT7K trip, for money, for approval from Donella, for, well, whatever he gets out of it. Cyrus is left behind, and honestly, they didn’t expect anything out of whatever they “had.” But absence makes the heart grow fonder, and Hugo believed he could get himself out of every sticky situation without some big dude pulling him out of situations he knew he could handle every other mission. But when that sense of “security” is gone, and he’s fending for himself on a caravan where he knows he can’t get attached to anyone… Well.

Varian breaks through. Cyrus isn’t jealous, Hugo’s got another toy to keep him entertained while he works. That’s fine. He’s fine with it. Hugo will come back. (AreYouSureAboutThat.mp3)

Anyway. There’s that. Mischaracterization and all! :3

HELLO!! This is an oldie but a goodie. As someone who was hyper-fixated on both TOH and TTS simultaneously, I give you a crossover... With Hunter eventually becoming part of the potions track at Hexside (a personal headcanon), I can see him and Varian bonding over potions, alchemy, and all that jazz.

Has anyone ever thought about how similar the potion track at Hexside is to alchemy? Varian wouldn't dig the magic part, but...

Cyrugo is actually a fire idea when you remember we lowkey know nothing about VAT7K Cyrus and people just assume he’s way older than Hugo just cause he isn’t built like a twink

YES. THANK YOU.

Any actual information we have on VAT7K Cyrus is literally scraps and a single pitch character sheet that barely delves into him at all. He deserves to be explored as a character, and as a devout shipper, I believe my best work for doing so is through relationships!

We don't know his age (my grandpa started getting gray hairs as early as 25) his background, or even if Cyrus has been around for long! That's why I'm exploring a unique standpoint on his character that hasn't been taken before, with Hugo, a character I love deeply.

This little encouragement makes me feel so much better, so thank you!
