[Ethan steadies a dizzy Jack - @a-muscle-the-size-of-your-fist ]

Jack felt Ethan's hands on him before realizing what was happening.

He had been feeling off all day, but he'd pushed it back in favor of doing anything else the entire time. Without distraction, the pounding in his head became more prominent, and Jack hadn't realized he was swaying on his feet until Ethan held him steady while standing on the porch. He hated what this helpless feeling reminded him of.

He tried to give Ethan a weak smile.

"I'm alright, sweetheart, really. Probably just need some water and to sit down for a minute. I'll be back inside soon."

Even though he knew the Mold was gone, its effects remained, and it unnerved him on the best days.

Jack sighed, leaning over the kitchen counter and running a hand through what remained of his hair.

"It ain't that simple, sweetheart. Even if it was…You can't just ask me to stop worrying about you."

Jack's words, drawled out in a soft voice, were gentler than Ethan's. Today had been…not the worst day ever, but it had been full of inconveniences, little nitpicks, from a part of the barn's roof falling in to one of the goats almost running out into the woods behind the farmland. It was a lot of yelling, running, and swearing ("he's headed your way, Lucas!" followed by Lucas falling almost immediately into the mud as an example of all three in quick succession).

The others had already showered off and gone to bed in a grumble that evening, leaving Ethan and Jack alone in the kitchen.

Admittedly, Jack had been fretting over Ethan a lot that night, maybe even the whole day. He couldn't help but shelter him in a way he didn't with his family. He was getting used to being himself again when he hadn't been allowed to be soft in so long. He couldn't help but channel that into the man he was never allowed to be soft with before.

So maybe he did unnecessarily worry a little bit.

"I told you, I'm fine," Heisenberg grumbled, attempting to straighten up without Ethan hearing the audible cracks his back would inevitably make. "I've been working like this since before you were born."

Karl grinned, trying to disguise how his arm ached from being briefly crushed by the giant hunk of machine he'd be working on. Sure, it hurt, and he wasn't as young as he used to be, but he was fine! Unfortunately, Winters had witnessed it and was now fretting over him.

When he saw that his breezy dismissal of the situation wasn't working on Ethan's anxiety, Heisenberg sighed and finally put down his tools. There was no way he could work while Ethan was even a little upset, although he hated being the cause of it.

He sat on a nearby metal bench, motioning for Ethan to sit beside him and his probably sufficiently bruised arm.

"Really, it's nothing," Karl mumbled again, though with much less of a whine in his voice this time, accepting it wouldn't make much of a difference until Ethan was satisfied that Karl was okay.

Honestly, it was a little sweet. Not many people in Karl's life would do that for him.
