Tips for Disabled Regressors
Since I know theres a lot of disabled regressors out there, i thought itd be nice to create one of these posts for us. Here are some thing you can do help you regress through chronic pain and illness.
🖍 ACTIVITIES 🖍
🖍 watching things on the TV is going to be your best friend as a disabled regressor. Find shows that help you feel small and watch them. You can cuddle up with lots of blankets and pillows and snacks on your couch, dim to the lights a little, and pretend youre in a movie theatre!
🖍 decorate your spoonie gear! Put rhinestones on your pillbox, put stickers on your mobility aids, whatever you want! Make everything pretty!
🖍 play with toy cars on the floor! Its fun to roll them across the room! I use to love Hotwheels when I was a kid!
🖍 make block cities, and then knock them down! Create roadways from your Hotwheels!
🖍 sing to your stuffies, or even have a whole concert with them
🖍use your regression journal to make an entry about how youre feeling right now. Use crayons and markers, stickers, doodles, whatever you want to express how youre feeling physically and mentally on paper.
🖍 use character creator apps (like the Pastel Girl and Monster Girl apps) to make a character who looks like how you feel
🍭 SNACKS AND FOOD 🍭
🍭 avoid candy! I know its super yummy but candy will seriously dehydrate you! So for every couple pieces of candy you eat, you should drink about a cup of water. In general though, try to avoid candy!
🍭 salty snacks: pretzels, Goldfish, Ritz Crackers, saltines, nuts
🍭 sweet snacks: grapes, granola bars, fruit cups, yogurt
🍭 yummy drinks: 100% fruit juice, gatorade, apple cider, sweet tea, [strawberry/chocolate/regular] milk
🍭 low-effort meals: bakeable goods (fries, tater tots, chicken patties or breasts, burgers, casserole, etc) or microwaveable goods (burritos, microwave meals, ramen, SpaghettiOs, ravioli, etc)
🌸 SELF CARE 🌸
🌸 take a long, hot bath with your bath toys if you have them (if you can safely get up out of a tub)
🌸 take a long, hot shower - if you can plug the drain you can take a bath with the shower on and pretend youre a mermaid in the rain
🌸 rub yourself down with baby lotion
🌸 take pain meds if youre in pain!!!
🌸 put on clean clothes that help you feel small
🌸 wrap yourself up in blankets and take a nap with all your stuffies
🌸 or just lay down on the couch in a darkened living room for twenty minutes to rest your eyes (with your stuffies)
🌸 step outside. You dont have to go anywhere, you dont need to talk a 30 minute or even a five minute walk. Just stand in your doorway and experience the outdoors for a moment. Breathe in the air, look around at the scenery, feel the wind and the sun, the rain or snow. Listen for the calls of birds, for the sounds of the roadway, for the pit-a-pat of the rain. You are now practicing mindfulness. Do this as often as you can.
Hope this helps any spoonies who are struggling to relax and regress because of their pain.

Regression books are a great relaxation and mind working tool for all! Pick a journal that’s cute, mine doesn’t have lines, it has dots, get some pencils or markers and some stickers, and you’re ready to go. They’re just like the diaries and silly things we doodled and wrote when we were kids.

✨ If you have a caregiver, have them give you stickers for when you take care of yourself, work hard, or have a good day, or even a bad day to cheer you up.
🦄  Write down what you did today! Did you run a pirate ship? Maybe you were a dragon-taming prince/ss or a merperson in the deep blue!
🐻 What about your stuffies? What did they do today?
🍩 You could keep a snack diary so you know when you ate all your meals or just what snacks to buy next grocery day!
🌙 Write about the dreams you had last night or at nap time. Dreams are super duper weird sometimes and it’s fun to try to figure them out enough to write them down!
🌞 Write down if you did your dailies! Brushing your teeth, taking your meds, eating your meals, and all that yucky big stuff :p If you did good, give yourself or have your caregiver give you a sticker or get you a prize for a week of good dailies! It’s ok if you forget your dailies sometimes, or if you’re just not strong enough one day. Nobodies perfect, keep chuggin’   💙
💲 Did you see any cool things in the store or on the internet? Write down what you want to get in the future so you remember when you have extra money! It’s a good gift idea space too~
🏆 Set a goal for yourself each day and see if you can acomplish it! It’s ok to have small goals, anything’s worthy!
🎨 Doodle something cute or something to make you feel better. It doesn’t have to be super good!
🎤 If you’re good with words you can write little stories and some poems!
🎭  Keep track of your mood throughout the day. This can be super helpful for your caregiver or therapist or just a good way to keep track of things. It makes identifying triggers much easier.
🥠 11:11, shooting stars, wishes, wishes, wishes! Write down one when you feel lucky!
💅 Treat yo self! Be it for good behavior, keeping track, or just to make you happy. Write down what you got and how happy it made you!
👼 Write down all the good things you did today and even some of the good things you saw other people do. It’s good for mood boosts!
