I think a lot about all the times my friends and family had told me that “love will come when you least expect it”, I remember the first time I heard it, I was just like 14 yo and feeling already unable to feel and experience what other people around me was living, the silly crush on middle school and all the stuff that came when they liked you back, a girl that was my friend back then and that I don’t even remember her name exactly anymore (nine years had passed since that moment, and all I remember are her words) told me that love would come when I least expected it, that I wouldn’t have to worry about it.

But what happens when I’m always expecting love? What happens when I’m this silly hopeless romantic that grew up thinking dreaming and praying for that kind of love I only got to see in movies and read on those love stories I’ve grown to love and despise at the same time, I love to think that love like that exists since someone must have felt it to write about it and I felt it when I read it… but at the same time I can’t help but feel like it’s not for me. So how am I supposed to just not expect it when that kind of love is everywhere? I find it in the music I like, the stuff I read, I find it in myself, but never on someone else willing to give it to me.

How am I supposed to not expect that kind of love and just let time do its thing when I’m always thinking about it?

The man who broke Red Bull’s streak not once but twice during their most dominant era, through the power of sheer willpower and tactical brilliance. Once, in the streets of Singapore, with a strategy that no one else could have pulled off. “It’s on purpose,” he said, as he utilized the bond between him and his ex-teammate to hold off two much faster Mercedes. The second time in Australia, only two weeks after an invasive surgery and barely able to walk onto the podium.

The man who took engineering classes on his own time in order to understand the car better and provide better feedback to his engineers.

The man who uses a colour-coded system to communicate rain levels to his race engineer, memorized with every millimeter of rain correlating to a specific shade.

The man who has brought every team he has ever been at to a higher position in the Constructor’s Championship, and whose teammates speak fondly of every time.

The man who, despite always being considered Ferrari’s “second choice”, is a gracious teammate and speaks respectfully about the man who is set to take his place. “That's why, when I reflected on it, it didn’t hurt me that much. Because in the end it’s not any other driver replacing you, but the best driver in history. And in the end, if one has to replace me, let it be [Lewis],” he says to the media after losing his seat at his dream team.

The man who chose Williams, because he saw their potential for growth and their vision for the future, and chose them over teams who only wanted a temporary solution.

The man who was once described as “more modest and lightly brushed by melancholy”.

The man who is energetic, fun-loving and goofy with his friends inside and out of the paddock.

The man who is strategic in every action, determined to a fault and a natural born competitor.

Happy 30th birthday, Carlos Sainz Jr. We go where you go, now and forever.

Carlos Sainz Deserves Better

F1 is a competition, teams will do whatever they need to in order to remain competitive. That does not mean that they should be allowed to treat their drivers horribly.

Making Carlos announce his own departure, and only then, after posting about Lewis on stories and on grid and official statement, did they then promise hime one more great season.

I'm thrilled that Lewis thinks Ferrari is going to be a capable team for his talent, and Charles LeClerc is certainly a wonderful fit for the Scuderia, but to drop the ONLY driver last season to beat a Red Bull, and then to make him do his own leg work?!

Pathetic.

His message implies that he has a seat for 2025. I hope that's the case. I also hope he wins once again this season. I hope he ignores Ferrari Strategy and snatches the win without their help.

Most importantly, I hope he's ok. Losing your job is rough, losing your dream, even worse. Losing your dream job in public? I can't even imagine the emotional distress.

I hope he has his dream season.
