“Do I have to create for all thirty days?”

ELENDIL THE TALL and TAR-MIRIEL — A Forbidden Love

I am absolutely living for ‘The Queen and her Lionheart’ dynamic that is happening between these two! I really wish to see their relationship grow even further in season 2, perhaps even a little bit of a forbidden romance!

Rogue Ship: Rogan

Rogue and Wolverine (aka Rogan)

Not canon in any universe, the pairing got popular after the first X-Men movie.  Despite the fact that Jean Grey was to be Logan’s love interest in the movies, as it has long been in the comics, there was little chemistry between those two, but plenty between the Southerner and the Canuck.  In the movies, they were portrayed as friends, or sometimes they had a big brother/little sister thing.  The X-Men: Evolution and Wolverine and the X-Men animated series had a similar dynamic, but also had moments where there appeared to be more than friendship going on.  In the comic books they are old friends and comrades in arms, but not much else.

I know, I know.  This happened.  But they were under the control of the Golgotha, so it doesn’t count.  Sorry.  No, really I am.

Why They’re Popular: He’s a gruff loner and she’s shy with untouchable skin, but they almost immediately have a bond.  She was able to see past his grumpy, deadly, animalistic exterior.  He was willing to die to save her on the Statue of Liberty.  They have an undeniable bond and they’re closer to one another than they are to anyone else in the mansion.  And they’re so damn cute together!

Strengths of Their Relationship: They understand each other.  They’re both deadly, both lonely, both unable to fit in, even with other mutants.  Plus, Rogue’s gotten a pretty good glimpse into his mind, so she knows what he’s dealing with.  Therefore, they trust and empathize with one another, but more than that, they support each other like no one else does.  For her, that means having someone who will protect and care for her, for him it means having someone who won’t judge him for his baser instincts or his past.

Relationship Problems: That none of the screenwriters are willing to actually put them together.  Ok, there are some other issues.  First off, the age thing.  While Wolvie doesn’t look it, he’s pretty friggin’ old (exact age varies between 60-130 depending on the verse) while Rogue is still a teenager.  And one of her teachers, to boot.

And there’s the whole Jean issue.  In most incarnations, Wolverine is in love with Jean Grey, although in the movie-verse that’s taken care of by her being dead.  (Like anyone believes that “dead” really means “dead” for Jean Grey)  So his emotions are at the very least split, except in a version like Evolution.

the fact that galadriel has spent centuries pursuing sauron and being consumed by hatred for him and desire for revenge and then when she actually meets him (unknowingly) he’s the one being she naturally and instinctually bonds with because she perceives a familiarity, a shared restlessness, a sense of understanding that she finds with no one else… not sure i can recover from the implications

Ahhh firstly I’m glad you enjoyed the fic, I know it was a bit sad and romantic but I’m currently in my romance/ tragedy era of writing with these two, so there will definitely be a bit of heartbreak here and there 😭💜. But I hopefully it won’t all be stabs to the heart😭✨
