Can I interest you in a fantasy in a queernorm world where a nonbinary human and a dragon are half-bonded and if the dragon touches the human it causes him pain, and it took me way too long to realize I set up a rather kinky dynamic as a result?

Dragonfall is pretty slowburn, but the spice does heat up more in Emberclaw.

I can now add a visual as I did the combine Word doc feature of the pre and post edited versions with hilarious results. I deleted most of the page breaks as I was trying to fit it all on one screenshot, which perhaps makes it look more unhinged.

Very, yet not? I basically massaged a lot on the line level, and it's shorter because past me maybe did go on a bit too long here and there. I foreshadowed more things from books 2 & 3, added a bit more magic, and I think wove in some worldbuilding elements more naturally. Micah has been aged up from 16 to turning 18 partway through new Pantomime. I haven't made it spicier or anything, though, as that didn't fit the vibe. It's a bit less edgy in certain parts and slightly more cosy-adjacent, though it still has plenty of stakes. The climax changed more significantly, but again for the better, IMO. Micah's more confident in his identity and more annoyed that the society around him is unaccepting (I was deeply closeted while writing it the first time around). The plot follows the same general trajectory. What people who have read both versions have had to say so far: "I really, really like the changes! I can definitely see what you said about it being tighter (I think) and being kinder. I picked up the older version again right after finishing the new one, just because I am a (teeny tiny ...) bit hazy on the details after 11 years and I'm only now realising how much those details changed, and how much I appreciate it. Definitely doesn't take from the story, on the contrary." "That was AMAZING, I finished it in a single sitting across two trains, a bus, a short walk and finally while sitting in my room. I completely forgot how the original story made me feel and this brought it all back with even more magic and confidence, thank you." I'm sharing on some social media platforms but not others for various reasons. But yes, two family members have been through a more difficult time than you can imagine over the last year and a bit. We've gotten through the legal and custody and bulk of the financial issues now, but the missing piece is helping them relocate as the place they're in isn't suitable longterm. Any donation is appreciated or sharing for visibility. I can't share many details for privacy and safety reasons, but they're pretty horrific. The victim at the heart of this is a minor. There is no where some of us can legally go. We are scared . A 40% drop. 40. How quickly this country has unravelled is deeply horrifying to many.
