I haven't played it yet cause it's 30$ on steam and when I do play it I wanna be able to properly support the creators so I'm waiting until I have the spending money for it ☺

I'm a fan of the concept and, even as a strictly monogamous person, I love the idea of being able to pursue and date tons of everyday objects around your house.

My favorite dateables are Johnny Splash, Abel, and Hector...

I think a lot of it comes from one of Trump's mentors being ROY COHN

You know, Senator McCarthy's chief chairman, Roy fucking Cohn.

He described Trump as one of his closest friends back in the 80s and Trump was the last person to speak with him over the phone before his death(ironically, from AIDS)

Cohn and McCarthy were responsible for such long lasting instability in the US with the 2nd red scare McCarthy created and while I don't think we'll be having another red scare specifically soon, we are seeing pretty similar sentiments with immigrants.

(immigrants have been targets of both red scares, especially the first, but currently it's not focused on potential 'evil communists' to destroy the American people, it's focused on potential 'criminals' to terrorize the American people.)

Redesigned my Legion courier 😚

He's based off of my favorite New Vegas mods, Retribution 1 and 2. They're Legion quest mods and have a ton of fun content I suggest you check em out... The creator did a wonderful job with em.

Imagine Vulpes confronts the courier on the Strip about Caesar's invitation, and the courier tells Vulpes he should at least take them to dinner before inviting them back to his place...

And Vulpes actually accepts?

I mean, sure, openly. But sexuality is not dictated by social surroundings.

Obviously trans headcanons of him completely go against the Legion as written as they'd never allow him to become a soldier or transition. But sexuality is a seperate story. We know that multiple unnamed Legionaries are or have been gay in secret. That's Jimmy's whole story, he was a tent slave for and had an affair with a high ranking Centurion. The Centurion was relatively kind and gentle to Jimmy and gave him gifts. It was only when rumors began circulating that he chose his position over love and went to kill Jimmy out in the desert(where Jimmy kicked him in the balls and escaped)

Its not going against anything written to view any Legionaries as gay as long as your viewpoint is based in the reality of the civilization. No legionary could ever openly be with a man, they have to reproduce with a female slave regardless of personal feelings, and obviously there would be internalized homophobia surrounding it.

COUNTLESS legionaries disobey Caesar's law. If you loot Cottonwood, you find loads of alcohol and cigarettes in personal lockers and living quarters for legionaries. Aurelius of Pheonix has 5 beers in his fridge, female sexy sleepwear in a locker, and cigarettes beside his bed.

I grew up as a gay man with internalized homophobia, not as bad as characters like Vulpes would have having grown up being taught it's wrong his whole life obviously, but bad enough that I at one point when I was younger had a distaste for gay men because that's what my peers would of wanted of me. Even after accepting I liked men, it took me years to stop pretending I was attracted to women to make myself appear more 'normal'

Vulpes specifically is very good at hiding his emotions and remaining level in most situations. There is really no reason he can't be a closeted gay man who is able to push down and bottle up his feelings & sexuality so as to properly serve and not dissapoint Caesar.

So like tldr: there has canonically been at least one unnamed high ranking legionary who has been gay, gay headcanons can follow what is already established for the civilization and still work, legionaries disobey Caesar's law already, internalized homophobia is a mfer, Vulpes is good at hiding his emotion.

I just feel like most of the issue with FNV legion content in the fan space is a refusal to take the faction seriously. Like yes, to US the reader they are a straightforward caricature condemnation of fascism worthy of ridicule but within the text theres no reason not to engage with them seriously when interacting with the world through player characters and fan characters, but no one does that so you get HC concoctions about Vulpes being gay and transgender because we've set the precedent that this isnt a character to be taken seriously. and no one wants to speculate whether or not the legion synthesized heliocentrisim or geocentrism into their belief system with me

I get what your saying but both of these things can absolutely overlap, and they DO for a lot of people. I can acknowledge and discuss the Legion in a serious manner and discuss their civilization, culture, politics, and beliefs seriously while also silmultaneously building further on dynamics between characters.

I think with sexuality headcanons especially in a setting such as New Vegas, it's important to look at through this light alongside the serious discussions of civilizations such as the Legion.

Headcanoning a character as a certain sexuality or gender does not take away from the serious tones behind them..? Gay men can be bad people.

Characters like Vulpes definitely have an issue with the serious topics around them being discarded for jokes, I made a post about this a few weeks ago about how Vulpes is a genuinely unsettling character but gets watered down by furry and femboy jokes. But that has less to do with specific headcanons and more to do with people generally finding themselves uncomfortable with the idea of characters they like being bad people.

Maybe I've just misinterpreted this post though. I do agree that people should treat the Legion more seriously but I don't think people not taking them serious is directly linked with gay or trans headcanons and stuff of the sort.

Also, geocentric would make the most sense to me because by centering everything around Earth, it's also centered around Caesar, who within the Cult of Mars was said to have been sent to rebuild civilization after the slate was wiped clean for him. They don't really worship any deities that would be represented by the sun, they worship Caesar being the son of Mars down on Earth. This idea also works far better with the anti-intelectual ideas and laws Caesar has put into place to keep everyone beneath him than heliocentric would.
