This is one of my first pages, I might still make changes but I have gone for quite a simple layout to keep the sophisticated style of my brand.

Progress
I have now basically finished all my writing and I’m moving onto putting everything into the indesign document, I will share some pages tomorrow which will make it easier to visualise the aesthetic of my brand as I struggling with knowing what exactly to post on here. I have mostly used this blog just to talk about my progress and any stresses that I have had during this module.

This is my Pinterest board for the project, with images that I have collected to possibly use in the projects throughout the whole module. I try to maintain a light aesthetic with pops of blue as those are my brand colours and try to go for more romantic images to gain the aesthetic that I want to have for Luceo.

82% out of 139 respondents voted that they are encouraged to make a purchase from a brand if they are sustainable
Some of my primary research found that brands being eco friendly and sustainable is very important to consumers when making a purchase. This is why I am making sustainability a very important part in building my brand.

Wifi problems
My wifi back home has always been very slow and has caused issues with deadlines in the past, despite us constantly ringing up to complain about it and agreeing to pay extra for faster wifi. So, that's why I haven’t posted much due to no wifi. I have applied for an extension but it got denied as the campus is open so students can use their facilities but of course I have been back home and I can’t just travel back to Nottingham as I have a job. I have emailed my course leader regarding this so hopefully I might still get an extension because I literally have no wifi and I don’t have enough data on my phone to use for the report. Right now, my wifi is working a bit more, but it is still slow, than previously so I am trying to get some work done now and take advantage of that. Overall though, I have quite enjoyed writing this report and being more creative than with other projects. This project and the product development have definitely been my favourite projects that we have done.

I am now properly starting on my report which I am stressed and excited for. I am confident with my brand now, I know exactly what it is about and have a strong brand storyline. The thing that I am not excited for is the comms plan, I of course have thought about it but I don’t have a solid plan for it yet, I will do that as I write the report. I’ve just used to following a certain layout for reports, doing swots and pestles but this report is different than those which is what makes it more exciting and scary because whilst I think my brand ideas have been good, this report is completely different. I think the most reassuring part is that my designer seemed to genuinely like my ideas, rather than just saying she liked them out of politeness, because for a while I was scared to message her until I knew I had a solid idea.

“The designs that we create are inspired by the light in our everyday life, from beautiful sunsets to the big elaborate chandeliers in fancy restaurants. The world can be a dark place at times, but we chose to focus on the light in it and aim to bring that light into people’s lives with our brand. “
For the brand story and values, I want the brand to be what our society now expects. To be sustainable, be activists, speak out on important things that are going on as well as create high fashion clothing. Many brands have come under fire for serious allegations such as D&G for being racist ands Alexander Wang for sexual harassment, our brand will have strong values.

I thought I’d show what exactly I’m looking at right now on my laptop. I don’t mind how this draft looks but I think it looks too much like a mood board and I’m just not happy with it. My brain hurts from trying to decide on the layout for the first page but I basically have tonight and tomorrow evening to do 3 pages. I would like to have at least 2 pages done tonight, that seems too ambitious though but I start my first ever job tomorrow, it’s only a four hour shift but I don’t want to have the stress of having a lot of the work left to do when I get home.

On a more positive note, I have finally finished my logo. I wanted to include the theme of illumination into the logo but I felt like including a lightbulb or the sun into the logo would look tacky and unprofessional, especially since my brand is at a higher price point. After many hours of researching inspiration, I finally got the idea. The circular symbol is actually the symbol for a lightbulb in a circuit, I thought this worked well because it has a deeper meaning without looking too obvious. I tried a few different fonts and overlapping the name with the symbol but after a call with my designer we both decided that we liked the bottom one with the more italic style writing the most. I am happy with it and I’m glad that I didn't give up on more research for it because otherwise I would have been left with a very boring and meaningless logo.

Brand board stress
It is currently Saturday evening and I have to have 3 brand boards ready for Monday whilst I continue to stare at the open, empty indesign file on my laptop. It isn’t even like I have purposefully left to do this last minute because I have tried starting on the boards since Monday, but every time I start getting somewhere and putting a few things together on the page, I decide I don’t like it and start over. Starting is always the hardest part for me and I can never decide on the style and theme I want to go with. You would think that this would be easy since I have already done the presentation, the boards are basically just a compressed version of the presentation, yet I am struggling 10 times more with the brand boards. I know I’m probably just overthinking it which is why I can’t seem to put anything together and actually make it look good so I try to take breaks to have a rest and then go back to have another try but still the same result. I don't mean to ramble but I’m feeling really frustrated. I hope letting this out into a blog post will help me finally get my creative juices flowing. Fingers crossed.

This is the first page I created for my presentation. The brand name that I decided on is Luceo, it is latin for “to shine”, when doing research I found that the word illumination originated from the latin word “illuminationem” which inspired me to look at different synonyms and this is when I came across Luceo. Overall, I think the presentation went well but from the feedback that I have received I need to finalise what my brand story and brand values are. As the theme of my brand is more broad, I have struggled to dig deeper into what the brand is really about, past the designs.

This is my first moodpboard reflecting my initial research around my designers inspiration. I have looked at the artists that she has been inspired by and how other fashion designers have incorporated light and structure within their designs. I love the use of bright colours and the different shapes within the artists work. I think there is so much you can do with this theme, I’m excited to see how this module progresses.

Luceo
Hi, I’m Vicky and this is my personal blog as part of my University course to explore the development of my module, brand development and promotion. I am collaborating with a fashion design student to bring their concepts to the market.
