Inside of me there are two wolves

One wolf knows hotd is a tragedy. And understands that if Rhaenrya and Alicent reconnect and then Alicent is forced to watch her son kill Rhaenrya, it will be thematically satisfying and cathartic. Not to even mentioning how amazing it would be to change Alicent’s closing book line from ‘i used to read to him’ to ‘i used to read to her’. And that the dance of the dragons must be tragic or it loses some of it’s power.

The other wolf thinks that if the hotd writers were to parallel what they did with Laenor, and have Rhaenyra fake her death and run away with Alicent, it could be the single most iconic, brave, controversial adaptational change ever made. It could, if done right, cement hotd as one of the best lesbian tv shows ever created. It would be incredible.

One of the things that makes me a little 😵‍💫😵‍💫about rhaenicent interactions is that there is always a certain point where everything falls away. The starts are hostile, more bluffing than anything, but it always recedes into fondness. Like the look Rhaenyra gives Alicent when she says “you speak as if from a distant dream” is so achingly tender. All pretenses are gone. Alicent asks Rhaenyra to come with her and Rhaenyra doesn’t scoff. She doesn’t balk or laugh cruelly at the plea. She denies her as kindly as she can and hints that there is a part of her that would if she could. It is INSANE to me how much their love for each other has endured through everything they’ve put each other through.

He knew they were in love and he knew that could take the power he had as hand of viserys away from him so he sold his daughter to the king, playing all of them like puppets and fucking ruined everything

when eddie gets way to close to hen on a call will always make me laugh like he’s so used to be shoulder to shoulder with buck on calls the moment he tries to help out the patient on hen’s side she’s all confused on what he’s even doing and then the face that bobby makes also lmao

But also - the lighting in the first flashback scene of Maddie and doug, the immediate switch to tell the audience it's getting bad now

The episode is soooo hard to watch not only because of the storyline but also because the lighting, the editing, the actors, the dialogue - everyone uis doing their job so incredibly good that you just feel like you're holding your breath all episode long and then you're just bawling your eyes out

OH! AND THEN he obviously had to talk about it with Buck! And the elf telling Buck they have an adorable son? In THAT SAME EPISODE?! Buck just thanking her?!

The writers were INSANE for this!

She's his mom! She was just as young as you when your baby boy was born and she rocked it all alone while being in fear of her best friend and husband getting k*lled
