nct dream + sungtaro headcannons — nct as cliche meet cutes

⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶⊷⋆⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶

mark :: you both reach for the last doughnut in the case at the bakery. your hands touch slightly and you both pull away quickly, cheeks flushing red and apologies bubbling from your mouths. mark is the one to suggest you guys sit and share the treat, although he can barely meet your eyes and keeps rubbing the back of his neck. you leave your number for him on the bakery napkin when you leave first. when he finally gets the courage to text you and set up a date, he brings you a dozen of the same doughnuts from the bakery.

renjun :: you are in the same art class together, but you’ve always been too nervous to speak to him, both partly because he is so talented and partly because of the massive crush you’ve developed. instead of speaking, you two begin leaving little, elaborately detailed doodles on the other’s desk back and forth. on the last day of class, a beautiful sketch of yourself is on your work station with a sticky note asking for a lunch date the next day.

jeno :: he almost runs you over while he’s biking early one morning during your morning walk, when the fog is so thick neither of you can see each other until it’s nearly too late. you jump out of the way just in time, managing to scrape both of your knees in the process. luckily, jeno carries a small first aid kit and insists bandaging your knees is the least he can do. he then insists on walking you home, and taking you out for breakfast the next morning, because bandaging you doesn’t seem like enough of an apology.

haechan :: you both wore the same ugly christmas sweater to a party. you were sure your sweater was going to be a hit: it lit up, dangled with ornaments, and even sang three different christmas carols. nothing could beat it; until you arrived and discovered someone had beaten you to arriving in the world’s best ugly sweater. annoyed, you ignored his jokes and compliments most of the night, but with enough eggnog and mule wine, his exuberant personality seemed to pull you in. when you got home, you found one of his sweater’s ornaments slipped in your pocket with his number taped to it.

jaemin :: he mistakes your bowling ball at the alley for his own, taking it over to his station and leaving you without your perfect ball. naturally, you have to go confront him, which seemed a lot easier across the alley versus in front of him and his friends. after many apologies (and a bit of denial), you agree to share the ball for the night, as his is no where to be found. he bowls a personal best, not only does he credit you for his win, but invites you for a celebratory beer afterwards.

chenle :: you were sitting in the park on a picnic blanket in a pretty secluded spot you’d scoped out away from the noise of the rest of the park, reading and snacking on a packet of cookies. suddenly, a small white dog comes trotting up to you, plopping herself down right in front of you and begging for a snack. ten minutes later, her breathless owner comes stumbling over, apologizing profusely. this becomes a weekly park routine: daegal running from chenle to come join you, until somehow they’re both coming to sit with you regularly; you and chenle slowly bond over picnic snacks and daegal’s seeming infatuation with you.

jisung :: your eyes meet from across a crowded cafe, and jisung chokes on the iced americano he just took a sip of because of how cute he thought you were, drawing the attention of nearly everyone in the cafe and causing his cheeks to burn red. you order him a pastry and have it sent to his table, along with you number, hoping that the subtle move won’t embarrass him too much. he almost spills his coffee when he sees your number.

shotaro :: you’re at a night club, dancing with a large group of your friends with you accidentally back into shotaro and step on his foot. after many apologies, he invites you to dance with him, pulling you closer and closer as the night goes on. ever the gentleman, he buys you and your friends drinks and even offers to walk you home at the end of the night. it’ll be two more nights of you two running into each other at the club before he finally asks to see you during the daytime.

sungchan :: you both reach for the last umbrella at the convenience store on a stormy day. sungchan was going to just let you have it, but after it was purchased you offer to share on your walk to the train station. he held the umbrella over both of you, crouching a little because of how tall he is. at the station, he says something cheesy like “let’s do this again next time it rains” and you take that opportunity to offer him your number.

johnny :: midnight memories. he is like staring straight up at the full moon, making you feel wild and free. he is the exhilaration of stumbling home on an autumn night at 3 am, drunk and scream-singing your favorite songs. he is a house party full of people, loud and overwhelming. but he is also the empty bedroom you’re pulled inside, safe and held. he is never saying no to the things that make you feel alive.

taeyong :: long way down. he is like building castles and flying in spaceships. he is the grand plans you make for your future together. he is the stories you tell each other of climbing the tallest mountains, diving the deepest oceans. he is every possibility; he makes you feel as if you can do anything with him, even if it’s from the comfort of your own bed. he is the future; he is the world you build together for you both to live in.

yuta :: clouds. he is like sprinting in the pouring rain, full speed ahead. he builds you up, makes you feel as though you could never be defeated. he is the habitual type of intimacy, the coming home to each other every day after work, but he always makes it feel brand new. he is the partner that makes every date feel like it’s your first; you still get made nervous by him. he is the air you breathe, intense and cloying, yet refreshing and light. the small streak of sunlight through the gray clouds.

doyoung :: hey angel. he is like the flutter of eyelashes against your cheek, soft and gentle. he is the songs he uses to sing you to sleep every night; he is the caresses he gives your face long after you’ve fallen asleep. the worshipful type of love; he’s never seen someone so ethereal. he is the reminders you give him that he is beautiful, but somehow he seems to forget. he is looking up the the sky and knowing life is beautiful.

jaehyun :: a.m. he is like the drunken truths whispered between lips at the end of a party. he is knowing you two have known each other all your lives, though you’ve just met. he is tucking a flower behind your ear and getting the courage to tell you you’re more beautiful than anything. he is the courageous type of love, the kind that takes risks with no regrets. he is the all-nighters, the feeling of staying in his bed the next morning instead of slipping away.

jungwoo :: never enough. he is like standing on the edge of a cliff, watching the sunrise on the horizon. he is feeling the wind rippling through your hair. he is the type of love you never get tired of, the type that keeps you on your toes and makes your skin tingle. he is sneaky kisses and belly laughs. he is giving everything and asking nothing in return.
