It stuns me that some people actually can not reply and try to sort out a problem and instead just send you a message and irl "unfriending" you. That some people have to get other people to defend them and like ugh. Yes I made a mistake and was angry. I am human. But can't you just message me yourself try to understand where I'm coming from or at least be okay with each other. I just got fed up with feeling like you hate me or never want to see me for some reason and actually get to say a proper goodbye with our friends but no. I didn't even go because I wanted you to have a good time with our friends.

Now you've sent me some cryptic ass message saying I make you feel like shit all the time and I'm a gossip? Like wth I don't even know what you are talking about. Yes I got upset about this twice but now saying I've done other stuff to you and made u upset and you've just not told me and used it to say I'm a horrible person. Why couldn't you just tell me so I could work on being better?!!

And you go tell everyone about this while I'm not there when you couldn't even talk to me about it!?

I’ll never forget that one time I was talking to this boy and I rejected him (mind you I almost gave him my address because we were supposed to go out) and he stalked and harassed me for an entire month and put my number on Craigslist (I was getting hundreds of calls and texts every day to the point my phone stopped working).

Today I went to a protest against the religious freedom bills that the government is debating, and I would like to explain why.

Firstly, I want to say that I’m religious, and the fact that I live in a country where I can practise my religion is a wonderful thing. I see people of so many faiths and I love that everyone is free to believe and practise what is right for them.

Secondly, these bills are obviously going to impact me as a queer Australian. I will lose my right to access education and healthcare. If I become homeless, I won’t be able to access services that are run by religious charities. I run the risk of being fired or evicted from my home if my existence offends someone on a religious level. Some of these things are already the case, they’re just going to get worse.

And thirdly, let me speak from a professional standpoint. I am a medical receptionist. Every time I work, I help people access healthcare. Putting aside all our LGBT+ patients, I want to talk to you about sexual health checks.

We offer sexual health checks, it’s standard for a GP surgery to do this. Every few weeks, I get a nervous teenager or someone in their early 20s on the phone asking if we do STD testing. When they come to be tested I don’t ask them if they’re married. If they’re married, single or divorced, it doesn’t matter. We provide the same service. But if these bills come in, the doctors will have the right to deny STD checks if people aren’t married.

These are only a few examples of what could change. If you think this issue doesn’t affect you, you’re either very lucky, or you’re not aware of what’s going on. These bills are something we need to be talking about.
