Modern Neighbours: the 80s miss you, you know -

i love how back2basics references 80s neighbours consistently with elle and riley but it never feels like the show is dragging it's feet or nostalgia baiting. if you hadn't seen the 80s episodes in question you'd have no idea. i didnt until i picked up classic neighbours from the new classics channel. i like that way more than the way modern neighbours does it that's for damn sure.

okay so i see it like this:

funbus uses 80s characters (Paul, Gail, Harold, Lou, Sky, Joe) to tell new stories with old characters. they treat them like real characters.

back2basics uses 80s neighbours mostly as a reference and very subtly at that.

bower and jasek era don't care about the 80s at all.

modern neighbours basically throws 80s neighbours characters in your face shouting HEY REMEMBER THAT? REMEMBER THE 80s? REMEMBER THAT?
