Alright I’m feeling a little better and the drama on my feed seems to have died down, so I think I’m going to be coming back. Probably not going to be writing anything big for now, but I’ll be around.

Depression from my IRL circumstances has really been kicking my ass, and usually I come onto Tumblr as an escape but with the current Michael discourse after a very specific post coming onto Tumblr feels like walking into a hospital with a bullet wound only to be immediately slapped across the face.

My only options to curate my content right now are to either leave or start blocking tags for my biggest comfort character, and I’m not going to be blocking tags for the main reason I’m even here. So I’m probably just going to step away for a few weeks.

Thanks to everyone in all of this who has had some actual common fucking sense, and know that you’re all 1000% appreciated for speaking facts I just don’t have the headspace to deal w any of this right now. Thanks to everyone who’s been continuing to defend him when I can’t.

i will never understand the fandom‘s obsession to make Michael an unreasonable, deadbeat and violent angel, who can‘t even wrap his head around the idea of consent EVEN THO IT’S CANON THAT HE‘S NOT FOND OF ANY FORM OF VIOLENCE AND EVEN SIMEON STILL CALLS HIM A GOOD ANGEL

i don‘t think Simeon would lie to us about his perception of Michael, considering Raphael even insulted Mike without consequences following up.

Nor do i think Raphael would stay with an absolute piss–stain of an angel during the celestial war because he didn’t want him to be alone.

Michael IS very questionable and has very petty motives as well as having committed to identity theft to see the brothers, but you can still see the reasoning behind his actions and dig into his character. Villainous Michael is a baller idea, it’s brilliant even, but there needs to be a level of sticking to what the game gives us about him.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again.

Physically, emotionally, and mentally healthy people are not “lazy”.

People naturally want to do things. It’s human nature. Not only is boredom a huge driver of the human experience, but productivity activates the reward centers of the brain. Just the feeling that you’re contributing to society is inherently fulfilling and actually does wonders to combat depression. And study after study has shown that happier people are more productive.

When someone doesn’t partake in this, that means there’s something wrong. Whether physically, mentally, emotionally, whatever, something is wrong here that preventing the person from fulfilling one of the most fundamental human needs.

I think about a very specific day I went into work. I felt completely dead. Exhausted, spacey, couldn’t pay attention & wanted to do absolutely nothing. I did the absolute bare minimum, slacked off as much as I could get away with. As some people would say, I was being lazy. I didn’t really have an obvious reason; I just was.

When I went on break, everything made sense. I had some food and immediately felt better. I wasn’t “lazy”; my blood sugar had just tanked and my body was running on fumes. What do you know, when I came back from break I was energized & ready to work. I was excited that I actually had the energy to do things again; I’d no longer be in that limbo between brain-fog, guilt and boredom. Even if I was just cleaning counters, it was better than nothing.

Healthy people are not lazy. “Lazy” is a sign of illness. One that we’ve normalized far, far too much.

Unfortunately I don't have any plans to follow up on that fic; it was only planned as a one-parter and I'm not really sure where I'd go with it if I decide to continue. I believe it's best left open-ended, leaving you to fill in the blanks about the results of MC's research and Michael's promise to return.

I do have ideas for another, unrelated Michael x Reader fic, though. Just something small and lighthearted. I've been sitting on it for a couple months now and might just pick it back up again.

If you want something more immediate, I'm actually much more active as a roleplayer than as a fic writer! If anyone has or knows of any OM RP groups that would accept a Michael, or wants invites to groups I play him in, feel free to shoot me a message.

I was in a residential ED rehab for a while, and the rules regarding triggers were in and of themselves traumatizing.

We were outright barred from talking about any remotely triggering topics, under any circumstances. Couldn't mention death at all; even something as simple as mentioning a relative of yours died offhandedly in a conversation was off-limits. Couldn't even talk about about the food you were currently eating, good or bad. There was a laundry list of other things we couldn't talk about, either.

Hell, you couldn't even talk about why you were there. Imagine you're in a place where finally everyone around you understands your struggle, and so many want so desperately to talk about it, but none of you can. None of you are allowed to talk about it, to commiserate, relate with one another. At all.

Even if all parties involved were okay with these topics, even wanted to talk about them, it wasn't allowed. All parties could be enthusiastically participating, and a counselor would butt in and tell everyone to stop talking about it. I even made a meme about it at one point:

It was the same way with hugging. We weren't allowed to hug each other, because we weren't trusted to be able to consent (some people were "still learning how to establish boundaries"). Here we were, going through one of the roughest things we'd ever go through in our lives, far away from home and processing our deepest traumas... and we weren't allowed the simple comfort of a hug. There were people who had been there for months, hadn't had a hug in months. I remember one time, I had a moment and broke down sobbing, and some girl saw and remarked that she'd offer me a hug if she were allowed.

I told her, "I won't tell anyone if you won't tell anyone."

We embraced, and I could tell we both sorely needed it.

Exercise of any kind was also strictly off-limits. After all, some anorexics overexercise to lose weight- you wouldn't want to trigger that, now would you?

The place advertised itself with its beautiful campus where you could "reconnect with nature", but the reality was you weren't allowed to see any of it. Idly wandering around without permission was seen as "overexercise" and was strictly banned. The only time you could go out to the gardens was on Sundays, as part of a scheduled tour. Otherwise, no strolling. Hell, I got in trouble one time for running up the stairs/skipping steps, because that was "overexercise".

What's worse is, I'm autistic, and one of my main stims is motion. Running, jumping, pacing, etc. I'm sure some of you will understand just how shitty it is tell someone they can't stim because it might trigger someone. It feels fucking awful.

Eventually, the staff "compromised" with me by giving me a rocking chair to rock in when I needed motion. Even the rocking chair was meticulously placed, tucked out of sight. Hush-hush.

Probably one of the worst things they did was telling us not to talk about triggering topics while we were on the phone with our loved ones. Like yeah, you're having an emotional moment calling your mom and dad, trying to tell them how you're doing with tears streaming down your face as you desperately grasp for the support of those who matter most, but don't talk about THAT! Someone could overhear your phone call and be triggered! Was one of the most tone-deaf things I've ever heard.

Being in that place was undoubtedly the most isolating thing I've ever experienced. I made so many friends there who I so desperately wanted to open up to, who wanted to open up to me as well, we wanted to support each other and were totally ready to hear each other's struggles, but we couldn't. We were all to remain silent until our next one-on-one therapy appointment, once or twice a week. Even group therapies remained heavily sanitized. The elephant remained in the room, and no one was allowed to talk about it.

I remember saying at one point, "How am I supposed to focus on my own recovery if I'm so busy trying to fit neatly into everyone else's?"

I think about that a lot.

Thinking about the dichotomy of "I feel uncomfortable/triggered in the presence of x/y/z environments I would like to be someplace without that" that I constantly see online and when I tell my therapist I really get uncomfortable when people raise their voices around me even if they aren't actually mad and her response of "you can only control your own reactions and emotions, it's not really fair to police others on how they should exist in your presence" and honestly it sucks to hear but she's right.. it's good to have people be conscientious of what triggers you but really it's up to us to do the hard work of building that emotional resilience. The idea of people around me having to be hypervigilant of what they say and do lest I start getting dysregulated does not sound fun at all, I want people to feel comfortable being themselves around me and that means training my dumb lizard brain to chill tf out. Living in a constant state of avoidance sucks ass for everyone involved.

-According to Lucifer, Michael is prone to overthinking and overcomplicating things into something they're not. (52-3)

He's an high-ranking angel from the Celestial Realm, more specifically a Seraph. (nb card: Luke, "I can do it too!")

His love for sweets is the reason Luke took interest in baking. (swd: 5-12 and 23-5)

He and Lucifer were equals in the Celestial Realm and no other angel shared the same status as them. Simeon referred to them back then as "the two great leaders of the Celestial Realm's legion of angels." (swd: 23-7) But currently Michael carries that position alone. (swd: 23-5)

He used to be Mammon's mentor and tried his best to train the white-haired brother while in charge of him but wasn't able to figure out how to handle him and eventually went to Lucifer asking for help. And since Lucifer was somehow able to get Mammon to listen to him, he ended up taking over Michael's role and became his mentor instead. (swd: 27-19)

He was originally the one in possession of the Ring of Wisdom but gave the ring to Solomon at a time when the human was feeling "lost" and Michael wanted to help him. (swd: 29-5)

During MC's 2° stay in the Devildom when Diavolo was keeping secret from everyone that their powers had become a threat to the three realms, Michael sent the prince a message through Simeon, warning him that if whatever he was keeping a secret affected the Celestial Realm, angels wouldn't hesitate to intervene. He's the one who found the Ring of Light, counterpart to the Ring of Wisdom that Lucifer had lost during the Great Celestial War (swd: 37-9), and quickly noticed it was missing when Simeon stole it to give it to MC ( since it was the only other way to control their powers ), shooting the other angel a text stating that they needed to have a "good, long talk" and that he wanted to see him as soon as possible. When MC was given the Ring of Light and fell unconscious because of it, Michael appeared to speak with them. And during their talk, the seraph told MC that he had pictured them to be truly wicked person due to being so well-liked by the brothers, but that he had been proven wrong after meeting them. (swd: 38-17)

In that same conversation, Michael confessed to being jealous of MC. He told them: "I must admit that I'm jealous of you, MC. I wish I could have been more like you. Because I loved Lucifer and his brothers, and I lost them. Perhaps things could have been different..." (swd: 38-17)

When asked, Satan explained to MC that Michael was the opposite of Lucifer appearance-wise but that they felt like twins at the same time. And when Mammon brought up Michael's adoration for Lucifer, Satan chimed in saying that in his opinion the reason Michael liked Lucifer so much was because he was the embodiment of everything he wanted to be but couldn't. (swd: 43-19)

He would be the one having meetings with Diavolo when the prince took over the kingdom if he hadn't thrown the responsibility onto Lucifer in the last minute, making Michael in a way the stepping stone that led Lucifer to question his faith and start having doubts about God and the Celestial Realm in general. (swd: 44-15)

When MC ended up in the past Celestial Realm through a dream Solomon sent them to accidentally by feeding them his food, Michael was the one to bring them back home. The angel told MC that they and the brothers would likely forget what happened in the dream but that it would still have an effect on all of them and he would keep an eye on them to make sure that said effect didn't have negative consequences in the future. (swd: 44-18)

Luke told MC that he often found Michael in the hall where the brothers' portraits used to hang staring at the empty space, lost in thought. According to the small angel, Michael to this day still deeply misses the brothers and has regrets about the war. (swd: 49-15)

He was the one to cast out the brothers from the Celestial Realm and send them to the Devildom. (swd: 50-7)

According to Mammon, Michael and Simeon must've pulled some strings behind the scenes to get Luke to participate in the exchange program and be able to visit the Human World with Simeon because, with his low ranking, he'd never be the one chosen for those sorts of things and the Avatar of Greed is convinced that they're doing this because they want Luke to experience life outside the Celestial Realm, see that there's more out there than heaven, and stop thinking that angels are perfect beings who can do no wrong. (swd: 50-10)

He's knowledgeable on constellations and likes them so much he had Raphael rebuilt a whole room so Human World constellations could be seen even from the Celestial Realm. (swd: 52-7) He also taught Mammon about them when he was still in his care, and later on taught Luke as well. (swd: 50-12)

It was actually he who went into the Devildom and told the brothers that they had been forgiven by God and had to choose between staying in the demonic kingdom ( and making an enemy out of heaven ) or coming back to the Celestial Realm and leaving Satan behind. And in a conversation with Raphael, Michael said the reason for his disguise was that he was worried about what could happen if he showed up as himself. But Raphael quickly rebutted that by saying that the true reason Michael didn't go as himself was because he wouldn't know how to act around the brothers. (nb: 20-14 Hard Mode)

Still disguised as Raphael before going back to the Celestial Realm, Michael told Luke that he wasn't surprised that the brothers didn't accept his offer to go back to heaven and actually knew that would be the outcome of it. He was also surprised not too long after when Luke, not knowing it wasn't Raphael who he was talking to, pointed out that Michael seemed sad and lonely whenever he was staring at the wall where the brothers' portraits used to be. Michael's exact response to the younger angel's words was: "...I didn't realize that's what people thought.” (nb: 20-A)

When asked by Raphael if he planned to attend RAD in the future, Michael avoided giving an direct answer and left. (nb: 20-14 Hard Mode)
