most murders are committed be people known to the victim, but next to zero murders are committed by men with meat hooks for fingers, so children are statistically safer around meat fingers than anyone else.
There's probably a name for this logical fallacy but I'm too tired to look it up right now.

i need him dorkier. i need him more insane. i need him insufferable. i need him full of righteous belligerence. i need him bloodier and sluttier and more deranged. i need him gayer. i need him bundled in no less than 4 microfleece blankets. i need a gallon of soup in him. i need him kissed softly. i need him punched in the face.

Friend group chats are fun. Today one of my friends, who keeps pet crayfish, found babies in a tank that was supposed to be a males only. No choice but to empty out the whole tank to fish out the babies of unknowable origins. But lo and behold, there was a culprit: one teeny tiny little female had somehow escaped containment, evidently specifically going out of her way to break into this all male tank to get railed by like 15 males twice her size. Possibly completely different breed, too. Monsterfucker supreme.
So for a good solid hour or so, the whole group chat was focused on. slutshaming this one specific little crustacean. With like 300 babies.

There’s a lot of excellent examples of the difference between a million and a billion, but here’s my new personal favorite from a conversation I had today:
A million minutes ago was April 2021, the height of the COVID pandemic.
A billion minutes ago was November 121 CE, the height of the Roman Empire.

computer engineer here, graduated a few years back.
in college, it goes away. once you're an upperclassman it fizzles out because classmates and professors know your work now.
out on the field, you just have to cross your t's and dot your i's and eventually folks will back off and likely start asking for help instead of offering it.
however in spaces where you can't show your skills, there is really nothing you can do to change that perception of you without making a spectacle of yourself
life of girls in comp sci
I can't tell if it's just me, but are there any other girls interested in computer science that attend lectures, events or even classes feel almost... infantilized?
I feel almost easily underestimated in every room, as if every person looking at me assumes I can't do enough or know basic fundamentals. People constantly circling back to me to make sure I understand, or people feeling like they have to explain every single thing to me. Even the snarky comments.
How do other girls in computer science deal with this?!
