What song makes you feel better?
"Pink Pony Club every time without fail. It always reminds me of Theo. Will and Lemie played it at their wedding reception and I have the funniest video of her going ham to it.
I'm waiting with baited breath for her to tell me what the song of the summer is this summer so I can prepare myself for having to hear it a thousand times."

"You're probably right," Lucky says of the likelihood that her mother's appearance would be more than just a one time endurance. He keeps everything further he wants to say about that to himself to save on it becoming Tab's burden to bear.
She couldn't help who she came from or that Yelena's funeral had brought her to town.
"I've got nothing else to do," He reassures, giving little importance to much outside of their daughter and her right now. Everything else felt inconsequential in the face of loss and he would make whatever he had to work if it meant he could make a fraction of it easier for both of them, "Really. It's not any trouble, I want to do it."
Lucky anticipates that in that doing there would come questions that he's never had to answer before from Theo, bigger ones. It's scary like all things were when the potential of messing it up was impossible to ignore but he wasn't scared.
He could handle it.
His head turned as his eyes followed Tab's, the sight of Mac with Theo one that always went straight to his heart. There was little by way of words that he could come up with that could capture what she meant to him at a time like that, so he opts for acknowledgement.
"I know. I lucked out there, I'm doing my best to not Luck up."
( The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry. )
He looked back to Tabitha again then, thinking he may have been talking out of turn but it seemed increasingly strange to not acknowledge the surfing Samoan stoner in the room.
"Is the other person you were speaking to a conversation we need to have at some point?"
If it was he was happy to have it and he was happy for her, even if he did have some reservations given the sparse details he knew pertaining to Keo and Lori.
@tabithaxking
She made an affirmative, yet somehow unconvincing sound in response to Lucky's question. After the emotional rollercoaster of the last twenty or so minutes and given the context in which it all happened, Tabitha wasn't quite sure if she was okay and yet.. "I'm okay," she responded in direct contradiction to her internal feelings, assuming he was wondering more about her mother than about Keo. "She's gone back the motel, but doubt this will be the last time we'll see her."
Relieved that Lucky had managed to keep Theo away from it all, it made her feel thankful (as she so often did) that she wasn't doing this alone anymore. "Yeah, it's been a big day. She could probably do with some down time."
The conversation that Tabitha had with her about Yelena's passing had been.. difficult. Firstly, it was still so raw, the full effect still hadn't quite hit her. Secondly, Theo couldn't quite grasp that her Gigi (short for Great Grandmother) wasn't her anymore. And while Tabitha didn't consider herself a religious or even spiritual person, she had said that Gigi was up in heaven, mostly because it sounded better than saying she's in the ground.
"Thanks Luck," she expresses her gratitude. "Just wanna get Gramps settled back into the house. But Theo and I can stay there if you've got other stuff to do." It was how it had been when her daughter was younger, before they'd moved to Ocean Crest. The last thing she wanted was for Lucky's life to be on pause while she got through this. She didn't know how long it would take, or even how to start.
All her life, she'd been missing people - even people she didn't really know, but there was always the chance that maybe they'd come back. This was the first time where this wasn't possible.
Turning her gaze to Mac, who was inspecting Theo's newly braided hair, Tabitha smiled warmly before side-eyeing Lucky. "She's a keeper, that one." It was something Lucky likely already knew - but now seemed like another great chance to show her support for them.

"I'd give whatever that is a minute," Lucky says with a subtle point to where his girlfriend and her he's-not-sure-but-he's-guessing-something were in conversation, one he had already been forewarned about by Mac.
"I need some air. Do you need some air? Let's get some."

"I can't believe I'm willingly back here," Lucky says as he looks around the familiar space in their old high school, the decorated walls unable to conceal or banish a litany of memories for him.
( Some he treasured, some he never wanted to have to think on again. )
"I'm glad it's just for a night."

"Hey! Sam!" Lucky immediately wonders if he just embarrassed himself by saying that a little too loud, his volume a direct consequence of the punch in his hand combined with his excitement to see a face that was now becoming a familiar one to him thanks to Will.
"It's me. Lucky. From the wedding."
Almost immediately, he feels compelled to make an addendum to that.
"Not my wedding, I'm not married. Will and Lemie's."

"Hey, I'm sorry I missed you. It's not an emergency, I just had it on my mind.
I don't talk much about my mother. I like to treat her as a topic that is no longer relevant to my present day life, but as you know, it's not the case.
It meant a lot to me, being a ear to listen. I hope you know you're a good man, Lucky. A good man, an even better friend. I can't say I've ever had one like you.
Thank you, and have a good night. Say 'hi' to Mac for me."

"Do you mean that bravo or are you saying it because I might spin out of you offer me any actual constructive criticism?" Lucky questions, his skepticism for his friend's praise not stemming from any concealed distrust he had for him but rather deep-rooted disbelief that there wasn't something that he needed to change within the speech to improve it.
( He doesn't fully trust that any of his attempted jokes would land. )
He holds the paper to his chest that he's got this draft -- one of many -- scribbled on, tapping the tips of his fingers against it idly as he thought about the prospect of taking it from the top.
Again.
"Let's take a break. I think it might qualify as something akin to a torture attempt if I make you listen to me getting through this from top to bottom for a third time in a row."
He places down the TV remote he had been using as a makeshift microphone and steps around the coffee table to drop himself down on the couch, careful not to trample the Squishmallow that Theo had left on living room floor when he did.
"They don't tell you when they're making being a best man sound like the funnest thing ever that it's also very, very stressful."
Planning the bachelor party had tested him immensely, now he thinks that might be child's play compared to this speech giving malarky.
"Weddings, man... They're intense."
@finn-brooks
CLOSED STARTER for @luckylewis
Finn pretends to take a drag from the end of the pen that's standing in as an imaginary cigarette when the speech nears its end, trying his best impression as a play's stage manager. He doesn't intend to criticize a thing, rather, he sits in wait to support Lucky as he works through the kinks and hits his stride.
"Bravo, Lucky!" he finally cheers when he ends that held breath, offering his friend a little golf clap. This type of event doesn't justify any whooping and hollering. "If you were my best man and this was the speech you gave to me, I would be weepy eyed and ugly sobbing beside my bride."
Partly an exaggeration, but Finn knows that any kind words Lucky can conjure up would tug at his heart strings. He has a way about it, being this concrete and steady support, and Will Meyers is one lucky man to be at the receiving end of something so thoughtful.
"Do you want to take it from the top again, or is it time for a break? I think you're going to knock this one out of the park."

"Wow," Lucky says after her confirmation, words failing him slightly from how unexpected it was but the brightness of his smile made it clear how thrilled he was for the pair of them and what was next.
"Congratulations. I don't think I know two people who'd be better at it than you guys."
He did know one that he was sure was failing at fatherhood at every turn and he did his best not to be smug about it given he did have a nephew he's never met at the centre of that shortcoming.
"Theo's going to be stoked, she loves babies. Been a whole thing with her lately. When about's is this little one going to make an arrival so I can prepare myself for how long I'll be hearing her ask me that every day?"
@vanessagable
Van keeps her lips on the rim of her mug, her eyes on Lucky as she waits for the other shoe to drop.
3...2...1
Bingo.
She's already grinning as he places his mug down to safety, his expression one of the handful that she'd been most looking forward to when it came time to start telling people.
"Well, it's not quite so hypothetical. There will very much be a real baby shower for the very much real baby that's coming."

"What?" Lucky whispers when he would rather shout, wide-eyed as he leans slightly to look from Melody to over her shoulder as subtly as he could to where Meredith and Bryce were in animated conversation near the bar. Suspiciously, neither had a glass in hand.
He leans back so he's less obvious in his staring, looking to his cousin again.
"You can't tell my dad that or he'll definitely end up announcing it without even knowing if it's true."

Sliding into the unoccupied seat beside Lucky at the wedding table, she nudges Lucky's shoulder to get his attention as a way of introduction.
"I'm like, 95 percent sure that Meredith is pregnant." It had been top of mind whenever she'd managed to look over at her sister through the ceremony and now the dinner. The more evidence that stacked up, it harder to became to unsee. "She looks all pale and sweaty, I saw her nearly gag at the oyster bar. Bryce has been hovering over her too. Another baby for the family group chat."

"Me? You mean chopped liver?"
He nods to where his daughter was already on the dancefloor with her grandfather and his wedding date, separating Theo from Liam an almost impossible task when she had his full attention.
"I'm all yours until she gets bored of my old man," He promises with a smile, holding a hand out in offer to her.
