Finally, the rush was coming to an end. Caleb’s eyes had glanced up to view the line and was satisfied to see that no one stood in front of the register. While his coworker ran the blender, mixing up smoothies and other frozen concoctions, he’d been one coffee duty – foaming milks of all kinds (dairy, soy, coconut, oat) with little to no thought, tangled with pressing buttons for expresso shots and hardly processing the numbers because it after all was second nature to him. This was his last drink though, he realized, at least for the time being. The clock reading 2 o clock and the end of the lunch rush. He poured the last bit of milk into the cup before setting it at the pick up counter.

“Mocha Latte with no whip!” He announced before turning away, starting to undo his apron and turning to his coworker, Sherise.

“I’m going to take a break. It’s way too hot over here right now.” He told her, moving over to hang up his apron and through the small gate that led in and out of the bar. He walked to the furthest corner of the cafe area away from all the people and sat down, looking out the window with a sigh.

"Your hands are shaking," Nathan stated as he looked at his friend who looked as if he had just seen a ghost.

"My hands are shaking?" The break in Caleb's voice only made his nerves all the more evident. Why was he like this? His brain filled with hopeless romantic bull shit, but when it came down to actually do it, he looked like a lost puppy.

"Violently," Madge added as if her input was needed. It wasn't.

"Stop messing around and get your girl!" Nathan said with a firm grip of Caleb's shoulders. He knew his friend was far gone when he didn't instantly cringe away from his touch. Instead, he was shaking even more so -- like a god damn chihuahua. Nathan's eyes drifted off though, catching sight of the blonde Caleb had run into at the club the weekend previous. His hands turned Caleb around and then shoved him forward before he even had time to react.

"Sorr-" Caleb had started to say but realized who he'd been pushed into. His heart was hammering. His face had turned a scarlet red. "If you punch me after this, I get it." He said quickly, those shaky hands moving to cup the woman's cheeks before pulling her in for a delicate but urgent kiss. He could hear his friends cheering behind him even with the music of the club blaring in his ears.
