Reminder that since its less than 2 days until the bfdixii osc tour begins, watch out for leaks and spoilers.
If you do unfortunately come across a leak on youtube (as in it shows up on your recommended; i highly suggest not searching bfdi or ii up in the yt search bar after tour begins), make sure you click "not interested" or even "dont recommend channel"!
For example

(i dont recommend reporting since it doesnt seem necessary)
As for somehwere like tiktok... I dont really have anything as ive never used tiktok, so i have no idea how it works or if they have a similar system like youtube as i just showed.
And just a reminder to make sure on here (or anywhere with an applicable tagging system) that you block out any spoiler tags!!!
Have fun this summer osc :)

I apologize for the very long rant, but there's something that's been bothering me about the OSC and I need to get it off my chest.
I don't know if it's just me, but does anyone else feel like the OSC is kinda dying? It feels like, within these last several years, the charm of the OSC's plethora of animated shows and projects are just... dead. There seems to only really be two main options for the OSC and that's either BFDI (I'm including all seasons like BFDIA and TPOT) or Inanimate Insanity. I feel like since ONE finished, there hasn't really been any alternative show of ACTUAL GOOD QUALITY that's consistently going on. And while I can't speak too much on BFDI's community (I never really engaged with that community simply because I just don't like BFDI), I definitely feel like II's community has degraded and is NOTHING like how I remember it to be. To be fair, I have joined the OSC rather late, joining around 2021, but even then, the community felt far more different. It actually felt like a COMMUNITY. When I first joined, people seemed more friendly, there were interesting AUs people were posting about all the time, there was so much speculation and excitement over the next II episode (or episodes in other object shows), and overall the OSC felt more connected. But, I swear, when Inanimate Insanity Invitational started, it felt like everything changed. All of a sudden, people left and right were being called out as groomers, pedos, racists, and all kinds of horrible things. Every day, it felt like someone new was getting a 16 page google document published about their deeds. I swear I could see in real time people becoming more and more distant in the OSC. New shows were constantly canceled after the first episode, and excitement and creative AUs just... stopped. Everything became so... centralized and, in a way, corporatized, hyperfocused on III and TPOT. The OSC stopped feeling like a community, and the shows that were focused on felt more like corporate content. It's like these shows, or maybe just the surrounding communities, lost their soul. In general, I swear, I feel like everyone got so loud and angry a few years ago and burnt themselves out. Now everything's silent. At least, not as fun, creative, and community-based like it used to be.
Now, It's entirely possible that I'm completely wrong about the OSC, and I really hope I am. Maybe I just haven't been looking in the right places, maybe it's because I left twitter, maybe I've just been missing all the new shows and I just need to find them.
But... Am I really the only one who feels this way? Has anyone else noticed this... disconnected feeling in the OSC? Like we're no longer a community of creatives who's excited and passionate about their AUs and personal projects, rather just... consuming the next episode from two big shows without engaging in an actual community? Am I making any sense here?
BTW, I mean no shade to the creators of II or BFDI, or their communities. I LOVE II, and I appreciate BFDI for its charm and the sheer length of time that show has been going on for. However, I deeply miss the community I once knew. It feels so lonely here. Who knows, maybe everyone just moved on, and I just haven't caught up yet (that happens to me a lot tbh with my hyperfixations). But I guess I'm surprised just how fast everyone moved on.
Please tell me if this sentiment is really a thing or if I'm dead wrong. I miss the OSC that I knew so much, it kind of breaks my heart.

a vast majority of the ships in the ii fandom are actually problematic if you take a moment to think critically (something i know you people hate doing)
first of all, everyone tends to forget that characters that originate from different seasons have a Significant age gap.. if we consider that the ii timeline is 1:1 with the real life production timeline (which is basically canon considering that in season 1 the contestants on idiotic island say that theyve been there for months, and at the beginning of s2 mephone says its ii's second anniversary, and in episode 7 trophy also mentions that they were stuck in oj's closet for months), then the contestants from different seasons have an age gap of AT LEAST 2 years (between the s1 and s2 contestants), and obviously that age gap only increases between s2 and s3 contestants, or even worse, s1 and s3 contestants.
an age gap like that would already be somewhat problematic in real life, but with the ii characters its even more accentuated: if youre shipping a s1 contestant with a s3 contestant, youre shipping a 14 year old with a 4 year old. I don't think i need to explain to you how messed up that is.
also, any mephone x contestant ships are problematic too. ignoring the agegap (which is already a huge problem), theres a huge power imbalance in that relationship. since mephone CREATED all the contestants, its not unlike the dynamic a parent and a child would have. no im not saying mephone and all the contestants are related, im just saying he obviously has power over them because he made them, and he's been in control of their ENTIRE lives (and has probably been an idol for some of them at one point, or at least someone they saw as a trustworthy or admirable figure) up until now.
on top of that, mephone is responsible for basically all the trauma that the contestants have endured. why would you ship an ABUSER with his VICTIMS.
i just know some people are going to try and disregard this by saying "oh, ive been shipping these characters since before the reveal" or "well, its not problematic because of my headcanons". first of all, lets say if you were in another fandom, and you shipped two characters, but later on they were revealed to be related or in another dynamic which would make it problematic, would you still continue shipping them? of course not. it can be dissapointing but you just have to accept that thats the canon now. also, headcanons dont just Magically fix the problematic aspects of a ship. if its "fine" within your headcanons, but its problematic in the source media, then guess what? your ship. is. problematic.
im open to people trying to change my mind, but i really dont see how you can defend something like this.
-⁉️🐟 anon (hopefully that signoff isnt taken yet and i can claim it)
