Working on the final video yesterday I realized how much faster I got working with Premiere and creating the effects I wanted. In the beginning it would all be a bit too abstract in my mind and I wouldn't be able to translate it to my videos but it became easier without me even noticing it, once I stopped to think about it I was already making everything I wanted to. SUCCESS!!

These are photos from our final session in the studio. None of them were edited. We were surprised with the effects we managed to get with the beamer and the silicone. They'll not be used in videos because the pictures look much more dynamic. Somehow there is this dark/fluo thing going on here that would become completely flat on the video. It was a productive day and we managed to take more shots for our final video which I won't post here.

Some pictures of the first tryouts of the silicone textures on the skin or against the light. We also made some videos on that same day but the pictures illustrated better what kind of visuals we were trying to achieve. We didn't have the studio that day and I remember thinking it was a bit shitty, but now looking back at the results I realize that they look beautiful BECAUSE the light wasn't ideal. It's a shame I didn't have that insight sooner to share with my partners. I am still happy about the results we had in that stage, I love the colors.

When we managed to get together again we decided create some silicone textures that would cover some parts of the skin on the videos. That would make it more abstract and also we'd be able to project the movies that were already done on it. This one, Clémence would continue with her body movements fascination, me with the videos and Marwane with the gelatin looking objects that would imitate his. These are pictures from when we poured them at the workshop.

Printed an A0 version of this picture and it was a success!! Taking it out of scale made it much more interesting and dynamic. We ended up using this again for our final results. 

Now it's already on my wall taking up a blank space that was annoying me for months.

Clémence joined our group and we sat down to discuss how we could incorporate her work into ours. She liked the visuals we had from the last meeting and we decided to meet on the weekend to create some new materials, now with her insights as well. Unfortunately Marwane had to be in Paris with his family, sho we met briefly to discuss our plans before the meeting on Thursday.

These are some GIFs I made from the videos without any editing. I love making them. On that day we recorded so many interesting shots and it didn't take us too much time. It saw it as a fruitful first collab meeting. What I didn't realize at that time was that only recording things together or having the same starting point wouldn't necessarily mean we were collaborating, even though it felt a lot like it. In my mind, since my own research was about satisfying videos it made sense that I edited them, but the feedback made sense and we would try to collaborate throughout the entire process for the next meetings.

Collab

The videos I last posted were already part of my collaboration with Marwane. We decided to shoot some interesting parts of his process to edit them later and make them become even nicer. I was happy with the results and with the process because I was loving to work on them, and I couldn't wait to continue making some more material.

Haven't posted for the last two weeks and only now I realize it might be too late to do so but I wanna do it anyway. 

EDIT: I now see that it has been three weeks and I have no idea why I didn't do it. I'm a bit annoyed I was that thoughtless regarding my page.

My friend sent me this after I told him I was working with satisfying videos. I had seen this before and it is indeed amazing.

An update on the first video. After re-watching it a few times I didn't like that the same effect was repeated more than twice. It got boring. Now I tried to play a bit more with speed and how it interacts with the soundtrack.

This is my favorite result so far. I think the music and the video work perfectly together, much better than the first video of the series. I'm still experimenting with both of them to have more options in the end.

Can I make a video more interesting with editing? Or if the video is not satisfying at first it will never be?
