Our honeymoon - Lukadrien month Day 29 + 30

I can't believe we're at the end of June! So, this is a continuation of a fic I did as a SS gift for the lukadrien discord I'm in, like 2 years ago. Basic premise is that it's a no Miraculous AU and Adrien and Luka got together on his name day, staying together long enough for Luka to propose. The wedding almost gets derailed because Gabriel takes over planning and Adrien is having a hard time saying no to anything, even when it means losing things he and Luka decided on. Chloe and Marinette team up to give them an elopement/surprise wedding with all their friends that no adults are invited to and Gabriel finds out about the wedding from a post Adrien makes, mimicking the one he made to announce his engagement. I lived in Trinidad for like, 8 years and have visited at least up until 2019, so a lot of this info is from my memory of what things were like since I was last there, since I don't travel much. Hopefully you guys like it. I also had to add slashes between the insta names at the at sign so I didn't accidently tag any members who had those names, cause I guess that's what tumblr does now. I hate some of these new things for posting stories, how do people do this regularly?

A post with two pictures. One is a selfie of Luka and Adrien, showing off their wedding rings, the same from Adrien’s post about his wedding. The second is another selfie. The two are in a car, changed out of their matching suits. Luka rested his head on Adrien’s, though his focus seemed to be on Adrien, who is smiling at the camera.

‘Happy to heading out of France with the new M. Couffaine. I’m so glad to call him mine.’

“This seems a bit much.” Luka said, pushing his carry on into the overhead.

Adrien, already seated in his first-class pod, looked up at his husband. “And your dad getting us separate trailers so we can get ready, in the middle of park, wasn’t much?”

Luka kneeled on his seat, leaning on the partition between him and Adrien, smiling down at him. “Hey, thanks to Chloe, that was fully legal. You can’t tell me that you think that Kagami paying for our whole honeymoon isn’t much.”

“It’s more like an apology present for not being there. She’s busy kicking ass in fencing tournaments to get ready for the Olympics.”

Luka sat down in his seat. “It’s in France this time. She already has the whole group to get passes in the Village and get into any events we want to see. That doesn’t cover the apology?”

“You try telling that to Kagami.” Adrien said, smirking at Luka paling slightly.

Adrien had almost been the object of Kagami’s affection, at least until they all went ice skating and she realised he and Luka were well on their way to falling for each other. She decided to change those feelings to making sure they were happy together. If Chloe and Marinette making a surprise wedding for the two was one end, Kagami was the other.

“So, exactly where are we heading?” Luka asked as they got into the air. Chloe had gotten them past security and gotten them all checked in before she disappeared with a tossed blown kiss and reminders that she’d keep Adrein’s father distracted.

Adrien squirmed happily in his bed, already sprawled out in the reclined chair. “Trinidad and Tobago! Nino has family from there and I’ve always wanted to go. Well, I had been there for like 4 hours, for a photo shoot with their run from Caribbean Next Top Model. It was the last 5, so the shoot went weirdly quick and then we had to fly back. But the beach we were on was amazing. Plus, it almost always feels like there’s music everywhere.”

Luka smiled at Adrien, leaning past the partition separating their seats to kiss Adrien. “Then I’m excited. I’m mainly just ready to be with you.”

“Even with my dad hovering, no doubt wanting to drag us back?”

“Remember kitty, you’re a Couffaine now. If he wants to get you back, he’ll have to go through maman.”

“Not you?” Adrien asked, with a knowing smile.

“Oh no, maman is 100 times scarier.”

And Adrien knew his father was well aware of that fact.

A post, a video of Luka collecting their suitcases from the carousel. The next clip is following Luka past the sliding doors, letting them out into the airport. Accented English flies around, some for announcements and others from passers-by. The camera is flipped as Adrien focuses on Luka sliding his jacket off behind him. “Why is it so hot? It’s night.” Luka asked, seeming slightly distressed. Adrien is giggling at him.

‘Any guesses as were we are? Thanks to @/oni-kagami for giving us this present.’

A reel of Adrien opening the door to a house, flicking the lights on to lead into the kitchen, the living room just past the island in the kitchen. Sitting on the island is a basket of fruit, a mix of regional and more common fruits. There’s even a gimmicky topper saying ‘Just Married’ sticking out of it.

‘Arrived at our accommodations. A small sneak peek. We’re very sleepy after 14 hours of traveling.’

Adrien moaned, feeling Luka press kisses to the back of his neck. “Morning.” He groaned, his voice dipping as he woke up. he was still slightly lost on where he was, feeling like he’d knocked out for ages. 14-hour flights weren’t fun and he’d done Paris to New York. Mind, that was nonstop, so it was 8 hours, not double.

“It’s 12. We need to get up. we only have the fruit basket in the house, so we need to go shopping.”

Adrien turned, feeling Luka’s arm adjust on his waist, and stretched, managing to not whack Luka in the face. He left his hands above his head and blinked his eyes open to see Luka smiling down at him. He had his hair tied back and already was dressed in his summer clothes. Adrien felt like the black tank top was a risk with how hot it probably was outside, but ‘hot summer’ Luka wore them religiously.

“You awake? Sooner we get something in our stomach, sooner we can go grocery shopping. Either they left their car for us, or Kagami took care of having a rental dropped off.”

Discovering Trinidadian fruits was an interesting start to their morning. The basket thankfully had list with a full description of all the fruits they didn’t recognise. Chenets with their touch green shell and the sour fleshy fruit inside, pomeracs that reminded Adrien of pears, but with bright red skin, white flesh and a seed an avocado would be proud of, mangos that were juicer than anything either had tried before, so much that they listened to the advice on the list to bite a top of and almost squeeze the flesh out like a squeeze yogurt, what the list called a five finger, which was shaped like a star and was almost like a kiwi in texture and Adrien’s favourite of course, passion fruit.

Anything that they hadn’t tried or was half eaten was put into their empty fridge and they headed out. the interesting thing about their accommodation was that the main level was on the same level as the pool and hot tub that was like the front garden to house, but it also had stairs the led up onto the balcony of the main bedroom and the rest of the second floor. The car was a bit odd, the drivers’ side flipped but soon they were on their way to the grocery store, Neil and Massy.

“It’s such an odd name.” Adrien said, ducking under the awning. “Who names their grocery store that?”

“Tourist?” a woman asked, her accented English throwing them a bit. The accent sounded like Nino’s mom whenever she called home.

“Yeah. We’re on our honeymoon.”

“Oh, well welcome! the stores used to be called Hi-Lo. They’re interchangeable now, but it was bought by the same people who own most of the dealerships, so the name changed. Oh, if you’re thinking about what to try while here, get curry and bake and shark.”

A lot of the brands, Adrien recognised from visiting Felix in London.

“Hey, look at this.” Luka pointed out the different blocks of cheese. They looked homemade, wrapped in saran wrap unlike the imported brands that had their original packaging. “Think Plagg would be interested?”

Adrien’s black Siberian cat was a notorious for being a little shit who got Adrien into trouble with their neighbours and stealing cheese, even off other people’s plates.

“Guess we’ll have to taste and see.”

Luka didn’t look like it, but he had a sweet tooth like no one ever saw, so he went a little insane in the sweets aisle, picking up any interesting cookies and candy, even if they were the simple cream cookies with the thumbprint jam centre.

“How are we going to try the local sweets if you gorge yourself on cookies?”

“Don’t act like you were staring at the bakery department.” Luka pointed out.

Ok, Adrien was, but still. He did manage to convince the person behind the counter to bag a few items they had to try, including a famed current roll. Adrien was iffy about raisins and he knew currents were slightly different, so he was curious as to what it would be like.

A post of different food. The first was a full spread of curry, from rice, to the potatoes in its sauce, curried mango and pumpkin and a full plate of buss up shut, the type of roti that was like phyllo dough in terms of how it looked. The second was a hand holding doubles, the curried chickpeas nearly spilling out of its sandwich. Another was of Adrien devouring a gyro wrap, noticing Luka was taking a picture of him. The last was of fried bake, the pocket cut up and filled with fish, tomato and cucumber, being shown off by both Adrien and Luka who seemed to be on the beach and just out of the water, if Luka’s curling hair and the towel around Adrien’s shoulders was any indication.

‘The local cuisine of Trinidad is very different to France. We love our pastries and carbs but Trinidadian food is almost, well rounded? Their treats is a whole other post but we were told to try curry and bake and saltfish and made it our mission on the trip to try them both at least once. We ordered curry from Roti and Grill, which everyone recommended and while messy and staining on the hands, it was very good. Doubles was a random addition, as our day trip around the area led us to a small crowd ordering from a stall and us being very curious. @/reporter_ceseaire swore we’d like it if we liked curry and she wasn’t wrong. Gyros was a wild card, but there were so many Greek restaurants we weren’t expecting to exist and the wraps were filling for our lunch break. That and fries we didn’t take a picture of because we devoured them. our first trip to the beach past our accommodation led us to bake and saltfish and for something so simple, it was so good. I mean, @/kittysection, you won’t be mad if we stayed longer, right?’

It was insanely early in the morning and you almost felt like sitting in the sand was a bad idea, but there they were.

“You can’t get mad at me for taking a nap.” Adrien reminded, letting Luka hug him closer.

“Kitty, I’ll be asleep on you. don’t worry.”

The group around them let out startled gasps as something emerged from the waves in front of them.

“Remember, we’re trying to disturb them as little as possible.”

Turtles, mama turtles to be exact, coming up to lay their eggs. They’d lucked out by making a friend at the beach who had a group who was taking people to watch them come up.

“She’s huge.” Adrien breathed.

“Marinette’s grandfather, his tortoise.” Luka started, “I know different species, but I guess I was expecting her to be half his size.” The turtle muddling her way up was about the size of Wyazz, who always seemed so large whenever they visited the massage parlour.

The hours passed as the sea turtle laid her eggs, their guides explained how people will set up barriers to try and protect the eggs before they hatched and they’d keep an eye. While not nearly as popular an activity in Trinidad as opposed to other places, it felt worth the lack of sleep.

After sleeping most of the day away, they decided to check out Movie Towne, a shopping mall and movie theatre. Adrien rolled his eyes at the crowd in Starbucks, when there was a local coffee house chain, Rituals, right next door. Luka would admit, while the smoothies separated easily, they were still cheaper than most drinks at Starbucks. They did go a bit overboard when they found a Cold Stone Creamery, more so when the staff actually threw the ice cream across the room, including to the final member who’d check them out.

“So, how do you think your dad is gonna react when we get back and you fully back out of modelling?” Luka asked, the two sitting on a bench in the side street cut off, near a fountain.

Adrien groaned, spoon still in his mouth. “He’ll get mad, but if the whole wedding thing is anything to go by, it needs to happen. What about you? Bob Roth can’t be thrilled you’re missing for your own wedding that he couldn’t exploit and sell to the media.”

Luka laughed. “Not when Nathalie went off on him. Besides, he’s tried controlling us and our fans ripped into him. Considering the comments on our posts for our wedding on the honeymoon updates, he doesn’t have a say. I will be very sad when we have to head back home though.”

“Me too. I had a lot of fun. I can’t believe it’s almost over.” they had a boat tour tomorrow and then after a morning of doing whatever, they’d be back at the airport heading to Paris. “How about this? first anniversary, we go to Tobago.”

Luka laughed around his spoon. “Whatever you want kitty. As long it means I’m still married to you, I’m fine with anything.”

“Good, because you’re not getting rid of me either.”
