most of the gems in the belt of deltora do really useful shit that helps lief get out of trouble, but the opal is just kind of an asshole for some reason. every time it shows lief a glimpse of the future he just sees himself lost in a terrifying wasteland and assumes it means he's gonna die as soon as they get to the next place. why doesn't that thing ever show him that he's going to win when he gets to the next place? or literally anything helpful? being able to see the future should give him some kind of advantage, but the opal is just like "nope. look at this scary creature you're gonna have to fight. fuck you."

The stairwells between the underworlds being called Limbo is actually perfect and I am going to ask Kenneth if he can make it canon that this is what it is called!! :O
One thing I thought was weird (yet still funny) in regards to all the mythological stuff being real as long as someone believes in it is the fact atheists, despite believing none of it exists, still sometimes go to Hell. In one book Grumblebeard I think says that there's a bunch fo atheists coming soon LOL. Of course, maybe they were horrible in life and so deserved it hehe, and not for their atheism.
Something so funny about a fantasy book based on Christian mythology written by a non-religious Danish protestant. I can't quite put it into words but the way Lucifer and God interact is hilarious

This is so damn true. They barely spend any time in Death's realm. Just sits around eating rye bread. Lots of things are discussed and figured out all the time. So much plot. But not really enough reactions from the characters to the plot itself and their emotional responses to what does happen. The end though, very emotional, gripping, scary and horrifying...
It's strange, the 2nd book has by far the most well-planned plot and the most satisfying conclusion to its mystery, but it's also probably the most boring book, just because it has so few good character moments. It's like there's too much plot. Too little downtime where the characters just sit and talk.

The way the Devil has just,,, adopted Philip. He's the only person in all of Hell who can talk back to Lucifer, he's the only person who can go against Lucifer's orders without getting flayed alive. And they keep pointing out what a Special Boy he is in the Devil's eyes and they never explain why, it's presumably just because he's very good and nice and Lucifer has no idea how to handle that

The relationships between all the different deities is SO much fun. Lucifer and Hades are, like, neighbors?? They live in different worlds, sure, but in the first book Cerberus was in Hell because Hades had to go away on business and asked Lucifer to look after the dog. Lucifer has a direct phone line to Heimdall and warns him about the various dangers to the afterlives. But he never calls Hel because he doesn't like her jdhglsk

The virgin PJO: The "Olympians" and "Norse Gods" aren't real gods, they're lesser god-like beings and it's cool if you wanna believe they were actually created by Yahweh or Allah xoxo <3
The chad Great Devil War: Yahweh is a bitch, Satan is a bitch, Odin and Hades are 眉ber bitches. Jesus is a demigod but he hates his dad for letting him get crucified and he's buddies with the Antichrist. Gods live in an endless cycle of birth and death as humans invent them and lose faith in them and sometimes gods straight up just get murdered. Take a trip to the realms of the forgotten gods and get existential.

The Devil's Apprentice is not the best musical I've seen, I don't even think it's in my top 20, but holy shit I love that they made the Devil's cat into a catboy. He's just a normal talking cat in the books. They could've used puppets. But instead they went the Sexyman Route. The tumblrized the devil's cat.
