Band Blog

Week 1

We all got together and decided what songs we can all learn pretty easily or ones we already know. The list of songs we have chosen to learn so far are R U Mine, My Generation, For Whom The Bell Tolls and Ballroom Blitz. We also thought we should all try a Beatles song because they have a lot of well known songs.

Week 2

We all found out that we can all already play Come Together so that was the first song we practiced, then, Pumped Up Kids was suggested as it is an easy four chord song. We also then tried What You Know because a few of us had learnt it from some of us playing it in a seperate band. These were the songs we learnt and tried getting more tighter with them.

Week 3

We continued learning the same songs to get them tighter and we also learned Teenage Kicks as it is very easy to learn and we also tried playing Mr Brightside once but we will work on this for next week.

Week 4

We continued practising the set including Teenage Kicks and Mr Brightside, we are all beginning to get very familiar with the songs.

Week 5

We are getting all the songs as tight as possible and everyone is comfortable with their parts. We have also created a band Instagram page, here is the link:

Week 6

We have to pick two of our strongest songs for when we record at Mwnci Studios next week. We have decided to record Come Together, Pumped Up Kicks and What You Know.

Week 7

We began setting up the studio for a live session. For the drums, the following mics were used;

Kick - D6, D12, subkick Snare - Shure Beta 181, Toms - Shure Beta 181, Overheads - Coles stereo (back to front, not side to side)

For the guitar amps, we used an SM57 for both but for one amp we used a Royer 121 and for the other one we used an MD 421. We DI’d the bass amp and also used an AKG D112. Finally for recording vocals we used a Neuman U87.
