It’s surprising how much hate I see every day about his character and appearance. He’s just living his life — why the negativity? Sometimes it feels like it says more about the people criticising than about him.

He’s living his life the way he wants to and he’s happy and that’s all that should matter to us as his fans.

Another reason I stepped back? The way this fandom treats Luke Newton.

Somewhere along the way, Luke stopped being seen as a human being. He became a blank canvas for fans to project whatever story they wanted onto him - whether that meant turning him into a villain, a puppet, or the secret star of a fan-fiction they refuse to let go of.

Luke doesn't owe fans explanations. He doesn’t need to prove who he’s dating or justify who he stands next to at an event. His life is not some scavenger hunt for clues. It's his life. And if that disappoints you, that's your problem, not his.

The conspiracy theories - about NDAs, fake relationships, secret obligations - are pathetic. They aren’t being created to explore possibilities, they’re being pushed as if they are the only logical explanation, as if they’re facts. But they aren’t based on facts. They’re based on people being unable to handle that real life doesn’t match the fantasy they’ve written in their heads.

Luke is allowed to date who he wants. He’s allowed to live how he wants. He’s allowed to prioritize his peace over fandom fantasies. None of that makes him inauthentic, or fake. It makes him a normal adult making normal choices in a world that fans were never supposed to and should never control.

It honestly looks like some people think they are owed more from him - more clues, more access, more hidden confirmations - that's entitlement, plain and simple. It’s not support. It’s self-serving obsession disguised as being in a fandom. Part Three: Nicola and Luke - Coming Soon.

Lukey’s finally getting some of the recognition he deserves ❤️

He was submitted for the “Lead Actor in a Drama Series” category for the Emmy’s via Variety. He’s not predicted to get nominated but a lot of big name actors are on the submission list and have also not made it on the prediction list. Given the high competition in the male actor category and the genre of the series, this is to be expected unfortunately. However, it is a very good start that he’s being submitted and his name os getting out there.

This is only the very beginning of a very successful career I am sure.

Those fandoms are trying to gaslight you, and you are letting them. Don’t start your defense of him from a place of agreeing with them or letting them off the hook for trying to force the idea that Luke is ugly as an objective fact.

I see so many Polins act like we accidentally got a crush on Quasimodo because he has a good personality. Yes we like the character, we like the personality, the talent.

Recently began to really hate dynamics between fans and Luke. It does feel like he’s at a disadvantage. Fans are strangers who know at lot about him. Yet he knows nothing about him. It just feels weird to me, especially lately with all the comments on his personal life. Yes he has a very public job, so has chosen that pathway but it does make me feel the ick when his boundaries are brushed over by people who cannot keep in their lane.

I really hope people begin to respect Luke as a person rather than a commodity for their parasocial wishes and leave him alone unless he does something problematic.

I mean this is not just the dynamic between fans and Luke specifically. These dynamics exist with every other celebrity. I’m not saying it’s fair or right but that is just celebrity and fandom culture unfortunately and it’s not happening exclusively to our fave. I think both celebrities and fans hold some responsibility in creating and maintaining a healthy relationship and setting healthy boundaries.

Anyway, I do hope that we are moving towards a fandom culture in general where there is more decorum and respect towards celebrities. I feel like nowadays with the technology that we have, it’s easier to see celebrities as real people and I hope we, as fans, can treat them as human beings the way we would like to be treated ourselves.

I'm tired of this fandom pushing the narrative that luke is not a good bf to Antonia. It's not true at all. And they are only pushing this because they want to continue to ship, saying he's not happy.

This fandom knows hardly knows their relationship.

None of us know anything at all beyond what he chooses to put out there. We have absolutely no idea what the nature of his relationship is or what goes on bts to make any type of judgement really. And that’s why I keep saying I do not care about who they’re dating, it’s not something I wanna talk about publicly as I have as much information as the next person, which is nothing. I just wanna talk about his work and everything he chooses to put out there. His relationship is none of our business.

About him looking happier in certain environments more than others. I just personally think that Luke, at his core, is a dorky theatre kid and I absolutely adore that about him. And when he embraces that side of him with confidence is when I see him being at his happiest. On some occasions, he tries to project a brooding model persona when posing for photos and there’s nothing wrong with that but it can come across as him looking unhappy which is not necessarily true. The only times we see his dorky side is when he is interviewed and it just happened that in those times he’s within the Bridgerton universe. I think this is where the notion of him looking happier around certain people more than others is coming from, but it’s really just down to the fact that he’s only ever interviewed when he is around the Bridgerton cast if that makes sense. I’m hoping we get to see him attend more events alone where he gets interviewed alone.

a lot of ppl on here seem to be beyond help but I wish they and the fans on X would realize that all the intense pressure (I mean JFC even from journalists) and scrutiny of their actions and interactions is pushing us father away from what we all hope for. 😕

Yep, i mean we can’t just blame the fans tbh. The media, production, everybody acts that way around them. And i know that it comes from a genuine and loving place but I don’t want this to make things harder on them and force them to hide their friendship that they used to share with us openly
