So I just saw a post by a random personal blog that said “don’t follow me if we never even had a conversation before” and?????? Not to be rude but literally what the fuck??????????
I’ve had people (non-pornbots) try to strike conversation out of nowhere in my DMs recently, and now I’m wondering if they were doing that because they wanted to follow me and thought they needed to interact first. I feel compelled to say, just in case, that it’s totally okay to follow this blog (or my side blog, for that matter) even if we’ve never talked before.
Also, I’m legit confused. Is this how follow culture works right now? It was worded like it’s common sense but is that really a thing?

I don’t have time to draw it right now but while driving home from the winco I saw a happy mustached man pedaling a bike, towing a cart built to look like a chariot, inside of which stood what I can only imagine was his completely expressionless 13 year old in a makeshift corinthian helmet

Chernihiv, Ukraine today after russian attack. At least 14 dead, 61 injured. They know we're out of air defence, so attacks like these are going to happen even more often. Ukraine urgently needs more Patriot systems. Call your representatives!

I am super against light pollution, and have been for decades
but I am also super annoyed by the way it's framed as "without light pollution you can see how beautiful the night sky is" way more prominently than it's framed as "hey, did you ever stop to think of how much energy/resources/money are literally wasted by having so much light shine up into the sky?"
so people get the idea that light pollution can only be remedied by eliminating all night-time light, which would make being outside at night very inconvenient, instead of by making night-time light shine only on the ground where, y'know, the people who need it are

Bestie, look around. Ukrainians on this site are all getting progressively more depressed, disillusioned and resigned to dying in the foreseeable future. This is not a coincidence we are experiencing this bout of despair at the same time.

Today in obscure Doctor Who jokes:
Somebody on Twitter pointed out that the Big Finish companion Hex is canonically from the year 2021, so when he occasionally abbreviates the word "suspicious" to "sus," it's probably an Among Us reference.
The punchline is that this character was actually introduced back in 2004. It was made-up future slang that they happened to get right.

I'm an iranian citizen and I call them what they are, a racist fascist regime, the so called Islamic republic, that has the most execution rates worldwide after china, kills and displaces ethnic minorities all over iran including iranian Arabs, oppresses religious minorities including sunni muslims, opresses women and deny them their basic human rights, criminalize and executes queer people, imprisons and kills any political or social activist who's not aligned with them.
The same regime that kills people for protesting, mass murdered around 30 thousand iranian leftists whitin the first decade of comming to power, attacked Tehran University and its dormitory in 1999 and murdered students by shooting at them or throwing them down from dorm buildings because they protested against censorship, the same regime whose violent ways of controlling people has caused loss of innocent lives (hope you remember Mahsa Amini and the 500+ people who were murdered after her on the streets, Neda Aghasoltan and many other murders during 2009 green movement, 2019 uprising mass murders that caused more than 1500 deaths, etc etc).
The regime forces, the IRGC, has committed mass murders in Iraq, and in Syria during their revolution, has publicly supported and aid Russia in their invasion of Ukraine.
The "political reality" you're talking about is a nightmare for us. It kills and opresses and has made iran poor. The IR is not a flawed socialist model. It's an authoritarian regime who dreams of power and imperialism. The IR didn't retaliate because they care about Palestinians. They're just protecting their own interests in the region. The IR and Israel ARE the two sides of the same coin.
My people, diaspora or resident, left or right, are not confused. They're fucking tired of getting killed. As someone who lives in Iran, I have every right to not want war. You should be ashamed of yourself. Humanity is fucking dead in you. Iran-Israel war is not going to save Palestinians, but it is going to cause a lot more death and destruction in other parts of the region.
You're mad at US and west for supporting genocide? Go fucking make them stop their support. Destroying the Middle East won't change that.
It's never felt more like a 'Fuck western lefties' time for Iranians than now! My people are struggling socially and economically under the rule of a fascist dictator terrorist regime, getting beaten, murdered and silenced by a corrupt government, that is vastly unpopular, day in day out. Now we're at the brink of a costly war on top of everything. And western left wingers are CHEERING ON THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC! Twitter and Instagram are full of dumb westerners acting like the IR is some kind of hero here. Fuckin hell. Two terrorist regimes are going at each other, the result is going to be more misery and civilian deaths. More destruction and casualties. There's nothing to cheer for here.
I can just hope this won't escalate into another humanitarian crisis. God knows the world doesn't need more war and loss of innocent lives right now.

Dear friends,
Thank you so much to those of you who have supported and/or shared the story of my friend Loai, his family, and Gaza Plays Peace, the children's soccer program that he and his family run. The funds raised have helped the family and players with food, water, and shelter.
Tumblr media
Above: Loai's family in Gaza: Mother, father, two brothers, two sisters, and three young nieces.
Until recently, Gaza Plays Peace operated out of Gaza City, but the Ahmed Family (including much of the GPP crew) has been displaced to Rafah. Their house in Gaza City has been destroyed. Some relatives and GPP players are still trapped in Gaza City and are unable to evacuate. I will update this post if that changes.
Tumblr media
Above: the ruins of the Ahmed family home in Gaza City.
The Ahmed family's situation has become more dire, with children desperately needing medical care and nutrition that they cannot access in Rafah.
Every day these people live in fear that they might die at any moment because of the attacks being carried out on Rafah. Loai has set up this fundraiser to help his family evacuate.
Please donate if you are able. If you or your employer want to donate but require the donation to be tax-deductible, please reach out to me directly and I can help coordinate this. The GoFundMe is not tax-deductible at this time.
Loai has 9 family members he is trying to evacuate: 6 adults and 3 children. Travel agencies are willing to help families across the border for a price. Rates for evacuating adults are between $5000 and $7000 per adult, and rates for children under 12 are around $2500 per child. Including living and travel expenses immediately after evacuation and allowance for slight price increases, evacuating them will be around $60,000.
Loai gives more details (and photos, please look!) on his family members in the fundraiser itself, but here is a summary of the people we are trying to evacuate:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Loai's mother and father, Wesam and Eman
Tumblr media
Loai's adult brother, Mohammed (coach of Gaza Plays Peace, pictured with players here in Summer 2023)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Loai's adult sisters, Reham and Elman
Tumblr media
Loai's teenage brother, Omar (striker on GPP's first generation team--he is not a young child and would be charged the adult price for crossing)
Tumblr media
Loai's 3 young nieces, Rafeef, Ayla, and Aylool (these three young girls, aged 5, 3, and 3, all need nutrition and medical care.) Rafeef played on the GPP junior team in 2023.
Please donate if you are able, and please share.
Thank you <3
Editing to add: please be mindful of the tags you use, as tags can get the post and/or fundraiser taken down

Just wanted to send love from Israel. I’m half Persian, my father’s family came from Iran, my uncle and aunt could actually visit Iran in the 80’s and it makes me tear up knowing I can’t. It’s mind-boggling to see westerners that know nothing about the situation say their stupid opinions. It sucks that we’re fighting because of our governments. We’re not our governments. I didn’t vote for the villain that is our PM. I hope one day we can visit Iran.
I wish for peace and justice in the Middle East.
