If you know someone with cancer, you might already be aware that cancer patients don’t appreciate sympathy. No one likes to be felt sorry for, especially when they’re dealing with something so hard. Along my path when I was an oncology nurse, administering chemotherapy 5 days a week, I met tons of cancer patients. So many of them would complain about how everyone always treated them differently when they were going through treatment. Some even chose not to tell friends or family that they had cancer because they didn’t want their sympathy. My mom in particular, when she was battling breast cancer, once told me that the sympathy cards she’d received made her feel like she was already dead. One thing was clear, no one wanted a sappy, depressing cancer gift or greeting card. Which is the whole reason I created LumpyCards! Here's our dog peeing on cancer shirt! A Mother’s Day Card can be one of a mom’s most cherished possessions if you do it right. Even if you’re not close to your mom, grab a card, any card, it doesn’t have to be from LumpyCards. Make one out of a piece of scratch paper if you have to. Just make sure you write down all the things you love about your mom. Here are some ideas on what to write in your Mother’s Day Card: Write about your favorite memories from the past year if you see her a lot. Describe your best childhood memory where you mom was really there for you, made you feel special or made you happy. Tell her about her best mom qualities, her looks or things that set her apart from other moms. Quarks are fun too! You can add a little humor to your card and tell her how you can pick out that snorting laugh from a crowd, or how her idioms or colorful phrases always make you laugh. Every Mother’s Day I try to fill out my Mother’s Day Card with how much my mom means to me and how special she is. She says that they mean so much to her that she’s saved all of them and reads them when she’s going through a rough time.
