Scott Moir: 36th birthday chart 9/2/23
Tumblr media
The chart for when the Sun returns to where it was when you were born can shed light on the year to come. The chart for Scott's solar return this year has a strong theme of looking inside, relying on yourself, emphasizing inner qualities and values over external ones.
Both Mercury and Venus are retrograde in this chart- that's doing your own thinking and integrating what you already know - you might not be that open to new info or input - this can be good for self-reliance and knowing your own mind but can be problematic if you're wrong about something and don't want to listen. This is a year for reassessing relationships and your priorities by what they mean to you inside - are they fulfilling? There's also more emphasis on quality of life over financial gain.
At the same time, this chart is earth dominant, it has 5 planets in earth signs-- so work and stability are emphasized. practical necessity might dictate where you put your energy.
This is a 1st house profection year, the beginning of a new 12 year cycle - something is starting, and it seems like it's an internal shift or growth - but you won't see what it is right away
The Sun in this chart is opposite Saturn: character traits come up to be looked at because they either help you or are getting in your way. there might be a focus on yourself that makes you a bit oblivious to the needs of others. There might be limitations and delays from the outside, with situations not turning out as expected or where progress feels slow. But the Sun is also trine Jupiter which means opportunities to explore your potential and a tendency for things to go your way, so this aspect will help with the Saturn one
The Moon is in Aries and trine Venus in this chart: this can mean an emotional need to have a fresh start in some way that leads to more self confidence. a positive sign for finances
Mercury is trine Jupiter and Uranus --creative potential, high mental energy, thinking outside the box with optimism and confidence
Venus is square Jupiter: being a beneficiary but not in a way you like, or mixed blessings, There might be philosophical differences between you and partner - wanting or believing different things
Mars inconjunct Saturn: a need to plan well and be disciplined around using your energy. you have the ability to get things done if you assess the situation well, but it may take a lot of adjustments. difficulty navigating the structures (like feds? the ISU?) that would help you succeed. the possibility of frustration in what you want to accomplish, and difficulty seeing where the obstacles are

Tessa Virtue 34th Birthday Chart 5/17/23
Tumblr media
Tessa's birthday chart this year has change as a theme and the question of what comes next? how to move forward? it has a Balsamic moon, which can mean nearing the close of one chapter but having no structure yet for where you're going. 5-6 planets in fixed signs can mean changes can be viewed as if they're all or nothing and feel intimidating, but having faith rather than acting from fear or stubbornness will help you not feel stuck.
this chart is heavily earth and water and lacks fire and air: material issues, work/job are emphasized. you may be more sensitive emotionally and feel overwhelmed, but intuition is also heightened. a time of gaining experience and gathering info, working with your immediate needs rather than long term plans. you might feel inexperienced and sometimes low energy or enthusiasm. it can take trial and error and following your gut rather than your head to find your way
there's what's sometimes called a minor talent triangle between the Sun, Mars, and Neptune in this chart which looks positive:
Tumblr media
The combination of Sun and Mars in sextile gives you energy for accomplishment. you have the ability to be a team player, other people don't get in your way, and you find that the tools you need will be available to you. The Neptune piece of this can start out as confusion and uncertainty about your direction, making it necessary to move forward without knowing the details. but it also connects you to intuition and sensitivity which help you gain awareness. helping others brings good things to you. it adds up to being able to function productively even when you're unsure.
Mercury in the chart can be your thought process, and it's conjunct the North Node, emphasizing mental energy and communication - Mercury sextile Saturn - at least one major decision to be made. a tendency to be cautious or conservative because you're looking for options that will give you stability. this can be about planning, organizing. completing a major project (she still has a capstone project to finish on this masters degree this summer)
Venus is about relationships, finances, values - it's trine Saturn: possibly adding more structure to a relationship- could mean buying a home or marriage. she's going to have a similar aspect in 2024, though, so this applies next year too. without a birth time, it's hard to see which area of life this is about - it may or may not be either
Mars in a solar return (bday) chart can be about where and how you spend your energy. It's opposite Pluto: control issues. conflict or lack of balance between two areas of your life. or your needs and wants are in conflict with those of someone else. the unconscious motivations that drive you can be raised to awareness. habits and attitudes that hold you back might come up to be dealt with
Jupiter is conjunct the North Node: good sign for new opportunities and growth. It's also closely square Pluto: you're driven by wanting success. need to stay balanced ethically and find balance between your personal and professional lives or your relationships suffer. this energy can be success but at a price. it might show you where you need to modify your goals and to figure out your true values
The big transit of the year is Saturn in the sky transiting and squaring her Gemini stellium- Tr Saturn square her Mercury (May, July-Aug 2023, Jan-Feb 2024): your viewpoints may be challenged if they've become too fixed or out of date, feeling alone because others don't share your ideas Tr Saturn square her Venus (May-July 2023, Jan-Feb 2024): tension in relationships. your need to be yourself is greater. relationships that don't work with your true self might need to change or be left behind. loneliness. a time of clearing out - your sense of freedom and individuality might be tested by relationships Tr Saturn square Jupiter (Mar-Apr 2024)- you might feel like your freedom of action is limited or that you're not free to take opportunities you want. a time that tests how well you put your life together, especially in your profession. feeling extreme restlessness and a drive for freedom
And finally, she is in an 11th house profection year: good luck or advantageous things come to you from your networks or friends. a year of greater social interaction, of exploring your hopes and dreams

Scott Moir: Solar eclipse at 29掳 Aries 4/21/23
On April 21, there was a solar eclipse at 29掳 Aries. Solar eclipses are like a supercharged new moon - the sun and moon meet in the same degree and sign- and represent beginnings or new energy coming in. The effect of a new moon can last a month, but an eclipse resonates for about 6 months. This eclipse is at the very end of Aries and makes an out of sign square to Pluto. This brings up themes of power and conflict, and in Aries this relates to independence and personal courage. Ways you're not being true to yourself or where you need to stand up for yourself might come up.
The positive traits of Aries - being straightforward, brave, being real without apologies or hiding are good ways to deal with what comes up in the next 6 months, while negative traits of Aries - hotheadedness, impatience, intolerance, reacting and not taking time to look deeper - will cause you more struggle or pain.
Scott's Jupiter is exactly 29掳 Aries. And his Jupiter is the apex of his Thor's Hammer which involves his Venus and Saturn as well. Your chart is interconnected, so what affects his Jupiter affects the entire configuration - the entire Hammer was lit up by the eclipse:
Tumblr media
In a Thor's Hammer or any pattern in your chart, the planets are constantly talking to each other - they never stop. His Venus square Saturn makes you want relationship very much, but also can give the belief deep down that you're not worthy of what you truly want. So self esteem needs to be worked on. It can also make it difficult for you to express yourself. Saturn can delay things, so you have to learn certain lessons before you can reap rewards. Thor's Hammers require a ton of trial and error - you have to keep trying and trying and trying. But they also give you the drive to do so. So you see this with Scott in work - Jupiter being the top of the pattern and connecting to Saturn gives him unbelievable drive in his work. Years of working relentlessly to become better at skating paid off
This also gives him a drive to be in a relationship, but IF he's not in a good place with his self esteem, he won't necessarily find the fulfillment he wants in one. So what this eclipse is bringing by highlighting all this Aries energy is a nudge towards a greater sense of self worth, showing up for himself and not putting others or belonging first at his own expense. Putting your own oxygen mask on before helping others, as they say on airplanes. A solar eclipse literally blocks some of the light of the sun, so this process regarding himself is likely to be internal and not necessarily visible to the outside. But the Jupiter-Saturn part relating to work could show up in more independence or putting energy into something new in that arena

Ice dance coaches's sun/moon signs:
Every last IAM and MIDA coach has an earth or water sign for sun or moon if not both. earth is stable and solidifying, solid water= ice it's so literal 馃槄
IAM coaches: Marie-France - Leo sun/Taurus moon Patrice - Sagittarius/Virgo Romain - Cancer/Pisces Pascal - Taurus/Virgo or Libra moon Josee - Cancer/Cancer or Leo Benjamin - Libra/Cancer
IAMO coaches: Scott - Virgo/Sag Adrian - Virgo/Leo or Virgo Madi - Pisces/Cancer Cara - Pisces/Pisces Sheri - Virgo/Taurus Justin - Taurus/Cancer Alma - Capricorn/Cancer
MIDA coaches: Charlie - Scorpio/Scorpio Tanith - Cancer/Sag or Capricorn Greg - Scorpio/Taurus
a large percentage of male ice dancers have earth sign sun or moon, and coaches are mostly former skaters, so that could be related
when we look at other schools, it's not 100% - there are exceptions, but still - in a list of 23 coaches, only 1 definitely doesn't fit the pattern.
Igor Shpilband - Cancer/Virgo or Libra Pasquale Camerlengo - Aries/Aquarius Anjelica Krylova - Cancer/Virgo (slight chance of Leo) Barbara Fusar-Poli - Aquarius/Scorpio (slight chance of Libra, but, Scorpio seems to fit her so much) Marina Zueva - Aries/Pisces or Aries (i always think of her as a double Aries, but there is a chance she's a Pisces moon) Massimo Scali - Sagittarius/Virgo Luca Lanotte - Leo/Capricorn

I feel like vm were always destined to fail as a couple. they had what it took to make a successful ice dance pair, but didn鈥檛 have what it takes to make it as a couple, that much is clear now. do the stars reflect that as well?
short answer is no, not at all. their charts don鈥檛 say they don鈥檛 work like that. and there鈥檚 no destiny that rules out personal choice and free will

Can you tell anything about what Madi Hubbell is like as a coach and mentor for Christina? And what her relationship is like with both Scott and Adrian?
so Madi is a Pisces with a Cancer moon - she's emotionally deep, sensitive, and intense about the things she cares about. She also has some warrior energy going on with her Mars conjunct Psyche, which makes her more fierce than you might expect a Pisces/Cancer to be. she has Venus trine Jupiter- she's loving and warm and shows affection easily. and Venus sextile Saturn, which gives her the ability to use her creativity in an ordered and detailed way. and her Sun conjunct Mercury- a good and expressive communicator -- she has a lot of qualities that make her a good teacher and role model
Christina is an Aries, and her moon is Pisces or Aries, but she feels more like a Pisces moon rather than a double Aries - Zak Lagha is a double Aries, Marina Zoueva is a double Aries - it's a pretty different vibe from Christina. She still could be, but if she's Aries/Pisces, then Madi is a Pisces with Aries Venus, so they'd have the slightly dreamy Pisces side by side with this sparkier fiery energy in common. Feeling kin with Madi can give Christina the feeling that she's understood and seen.
Madi has a Jupiter-Saturn opposition in her chart which lines up with Christina's North and South nodes - the way that Madi works and wants to structure their goals makes sense to Christina and feels comfortable. Jupiter on the North Node means generosity and good feelings towards each other, and Madi helps Christina believe in herself more, and Christina helps Madi find who she is as a teacher. Lots of good stuff between them.
Madi is double water with that Pisces/Cancer combo - Scott is lacking in water - it's hard for him to articulate his feelings, he has trouble sitting with uncomfortable emotions. Being around a watery person can be helpful in that she's good at those things.
Scott's Virgo planets are trine to her Uranus and Neptune- this is good inspiration and creative energy. Her Sun is trine his Pluto - a positive influence for change for each other. But they do have some friction- their Suns are opposite each other, and her Mars is square to his Sun, Mars and Venus - there would be some tension from time to time and ways they don't see eye to eye. He probably worries more than she does. The way she and Zach would spar verbally as part of their working relationship wouldn't work here- Scott would be more likely to shut down.
Their composite has kind of few aspects- their birth times would be very useful to see what's what - but as it stands, this chart feels like they work well together on the day to day and are good creative and work partners.

Thank you for that post, it cheered me up. I鈥檓 so happy to hear Saturn has moved on from Aquarius. I have my Ascendant, Moon, Mercury, Sun, Pluto, Mars and Saturn in my fixed signs so your tags on that post made me feel relief. I鈥檝e been having a tough time and could do with some breathing room!
aww i'm glad- you and me both - i have as many fixed placements as you do, so I'm looking forward to feeling lighter, too. Saturn is really strong in my chart, so i'm used to it, i even like it, but the way this has been making hard aspects one after another has been a lot 馃槄

Where did you learn all this? I鈥檇 love to be able to do this analysis on myself
i read, i studied charts, talked to astrologers, followed my curiosity. i haven't been focused or consistent with it, though. but it's never been easier to get information. there's tons of stuff online that can give you a start in learning about your chart, some really good astrologers podcasting and on social media. courses that you can take, youtube videos on all sorts of subjects. you have to use your instincts and get a sense of who knows what they're talking about. and a lot of the best sources for learning are still books, plus observing the people around you

i know there鈥檚 no exact birth time but what do you think tessa & scott鈥檚 rising signs are? (based on their physical characteristics/personality i guess) 馃グ
I'm hesitant to post speculation, but i can't look at their charts this long and not get ideas- these are only my opinions, no basis in fact since we don't have the birth times, like you said.
the rising reflects in the appearance and personality traits but more importantly in the orientation of the whole chart, since it determines which sign is on which house--
if I had to guess, I'd say Scott is a Scorpio rising - depending on his birth time he has either Sag or Capricorn moon, but I'd be shocked if it's not Sagittarius. Capricorn moons tend to be emotionally measured and composed. And the Virgo sun/Cap moon combination is pretty practical and not especially creative-- someone who'd be a good manager - it doesn't scream goat ice dancer. Sag moon is more exuberant, the goofy humor and making people laugh fits more than Cap, which tends to have a more dry or absurd sense of humor. If he's Sag moon, that narrows down the rising signs he could be to Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra or Scorpio. The other rising signs aren't possible on his birthday with a Sag moon.
he has no water in his planets except Pluto, yet he has water eyes (they have a particular look, plus he has a really intense gaze, which can be a Scorpio thing). Scorpio risings tend to have darker hair/eyes than their families, and his hair is as dark or darker than anyone in his immediate family (side note- Virgo risings conversely tend to be lighter than their families). a professional astrologer who looked at him and his chart also immediately thought Scorpio rising based on his side profile and hairline (a widow's peak is a Scorpio thing, who knew). And while the head and the rest of the face are Aries ruled, I've read the nose is Scorpio, and that for Scorpio rising the nose tends to be prominent in some way, and, well...
With a Sag moon in the late degrees, which he'd have with Scorpio rising, it would make a trine to his Jupiter (big big feelings) and an opposition to his Chiron (wounding, a sensitive person, almost raw in how sensitive, particularly to criticism or rejection). Scorpio can also be kind of secretive, or at least have the impulse to guard your privacy and personal information. So Scorpio rising for him makes sense to me.
Tessa is trickier - she has an air rising vibe, but that could be because of her Libra moon and all the Gemini in her chart. I don't think she has fire or water rising, just don't feel that vibe at all. Could be earth rising, maybe Virgo, with her perfectionist tendencies. Could be Aquarius rising, with her shin/calf injuries- often if you have chronic issues with a part of your body, you have the sign that rules it prominent in your chart, but it's not in her planets anywhere, so having it on an angle could make sense, though it's not the first sign that jumps to mind for her.
I've always thought Libra kind of made sense, too - Libra rising means Aries on the 7th house of relationships, and she's always dated athletes. it would give her Capricorn on the 4th house, which can mean a childhood home with a lot of rules or control or an authoritative parent, often the father, and an emphasis on achievement. Capricorn is a Saturn ruled sign, and Saturn can mean distance or separation, and she left home at a young age and is estranged from her father. And conversely Cancer on the 10th which can mean mom is really important, influential and close.
Libra rising would put her Sun in her 8th house, and her interest in psychology would fit.
Libra rising would also put Virgo on her 12th house. Synastry connections to your 12th can give a deep, profound connection and an almost subconscious feeling of understanding, but also the tendency to make assumptions about each other based on gut feelings because you know each other so well in many ways. And Scott's 4 Virgo planets would potentially fall in her 12th, and her moon would fall in his 12th if he's Scorpio rising, giving them that connection both ways.
But I have less to go on with hers. Because her moon is also Libra, that makes it unclear whether any Libra traits she has comes from the moon or a potential rising sign. As usual, she's a bit more elusive, though I could be very wrong about his as well.

is there explanation for why so many ice dance teams are water signs
i don't know if it's as simple as ice = frozen water馃槄 sometimes astrology is weirdly literal. i haven't done a big survey of skater charts lately, but the last time i did, it's true there were more water signs in singles skaters too. however, the further back in history i would go, there were more of the other elements, so i don't know if in the big picture it balances out, and it's this generation of skaters who are more heavily water
i remember there were a lot of male ice dancers past and present who had either an earth sun/moon or both. i wondered if that had to do with them being the base in the team and being more successful if they were more stable and grounded as earth signs tend to be
an astrologer i met had a lot of MMA fighters as clients, and she said they all had Libra placements, so maybe different sports attract certain signs, or certain signs have traits that make them more successful in certain sports
