Maybe it's just me but I'm so proud of myself when in modern movie is shown an old movie that I recognise

It's definetly a victory in my opinion

For example in the film "the intern" they show for a couple of second the film "singing in the rain"

Now, this is the second time I have watched this film but it's the first time I have recognised "singing in the rain"
