Is there a reason you haven't actually played KIU? Is it just too hard to get?
Thanks for the ask! For me, I guess it would be a mix of a couple of reasons. To start, I don't have a 3DS. I haven't considered asking to get one, either since I just don't have any other 3DS games I wanna play. It just seems like it would be doing too much to buy an entire 3DS for a single game. Aside from that, I am also holding out hope that, maybe one day, Uprising will be available in HD on a modern console.
(Also I looked it up, prices for Kid Icarus Uprising seem to vary. One listing was $55 and another was at $125 but discounted to $85 ??? And it was an extra $55 for the box??? I hope I was just missing out on information on that website...)

What is your opinion on Piridi and Pit x Phosphora (I think the ship name is Pitsphora)?
Thanks for the ask! I think I'll just take this time to talk about the majority of ships between canon characters.
I don't understand a lot of them...
Anything serious with Pit or Dark Pit gets odd because they were designed to appear as 13-year-olds. Anything with Viridi, to me, is worse because she's designed to appear as an 8-year-old.

(Note that Nature is Viridi and Elena is Phosphora)
Also, if anybody tries to say that stupid "She's technically been alive for [number] years ☝️🤓" stuff I'm immediately rejecting your opinions.
So, I don't like Viridi x anybody. I also find smash bros calling certain male characters attractive weird. She's designed to look 8.
Phosphora and Pit isn't nearly as bad, but that's still a middle school kid and a high schooler. "What about her flirting?" That was just her trying to get in Pit's head and baby him for fun. She just likes getting under people's skin, which is why she called Palutena "ma'am," and nothing more.
As for the others I alluded to, most of them I just don't get, so I'll only list the ones I understand.
Magnus and Gaol: They're co-workers and Magnus DID go a long way to save her, but I also understand saying they're just friends. A man and a woman can also be friends.
Thanatos and Hades: It's really silly but also makes sense. Thanatos seemed to be the one commander who knew about Hades pulling the strings before Medusa's death, so they were likely close. Plus, Hades calling him Thannypoo is hilarious.
Palutena and Medusa: If you ship them in their current rival dynamic then I understand less. If it's in the context that they're a toxic divorced couple, I find it hilarious and understand more.
Thanks for reading this if you did! I certainly wasn't expecting an ask like this, but I don't mind.

Why do you think we don’t see any more angels other than Pit? Is interesting The Chariot master implies there were/are more angels, but they rarely fight. Perhaps making Pit an exception?
Thanks for the ask! I do think that Chariot Master's words do imply where they are, but for that, I wanna add a random conversation that I should've added in my post yesterday.
(I cropped it to only be the important part)
This conversation is so casual in how they talk about angels that, to me, it shows there's no need for them to be quiet about the topic. If Pit was the last angel, then why would he ask this in the first place? Assuming that he is the last angel and just doesn't know, then why is Viridi being so casual about wishing she had an angel to boss around? It would be unlike her to talk in such a joking manner about a dying race. Finally, this whole conversation further implies that more angels are around since Viridi so openly wishes she had one, but she just doesn't. Even then, she has three other commanders who can do stuff that angels might do.
Now, back to where the other angels are. I think this conversation points to a very likely answer. They're just busy being errand spirits and messengers. Why would they need to get involved? They don't fight. Unless Hades were to secretly have an angel of his own, there would be no other angels who might need to get involved.
Thanks for reading! I've enjoyed trying to disprove the idea that Pit is the last remaining angel.

Hi! I have a question.
I've always been confused by the game's original story. It says all the angels were turned to stone. Is that referring to centurions? Or angels like Pit? I've seen a lot of talk about "Pit being the last angel," and even most wikis (and official franchise material) seem to classify angels as a separate race from centurions.
Thank you for the ask! I'll start by saying that, yes, centurions are not angels. To start, there is this conversation with the Chariot master.
Chariot Master: But you are no warrior, angel. Tell me, why do you fight?
Pit: I fight for Lady Palutena. And I fight for the people under her protection!
Chariot Master: That's not reason enough for an angel.
Here, Chariot Master implies that angels do not normally fight and only do so under very specific circumstances. Then you take to consider the fact that centurions are mere foot soldiers. If they were angels, then surely Chariot Master wouldn't say this. That is also combined with the fact that the centurions have wings on their heads instead of their backs, which is where angels have their wings grow from. So centurions aren't angels. Also, here's an angel from the Kid Icarus era.

Now, as for the original story and the angels all being turned to stone. Angels are never mentioned. The only times the word angel is in the story is when referring to "Angel Land," which is a place where gods and man lived in harmony. Here's the story so you can see for yourself.

If you also pay close attention to the pictures, you can see the only angel shown is Pit at the end. Also, yeah, never said angels were turned to stone. Only Palutena's soldiers, the centurions, were turned to stone. I've never found anything official that says Pit is the only angel. There is a manga that calls him a lone angel, but that can also refer to the fact he is Palutena's only angel. The humans call him "the great angel" for the rest of the story.

So, tldr, it was talking about the centurions and not the angels and I can't find anything official that directly says Pit is the last angel ever.

Fun fact! In Divinipedia, there are many different categories to sort the pages through. One of these being gods. Only two of the pages under this category are common enemies, Erinus and Uranos.

Erinus is there because "In the manual for Kid Icarus 3D Classics, it reveals that Erinus is in fact the God of Revenge in Greek Mythology."
Uranos, meanwhile, is directly stated to be the god of the sky in the original Kid Icarus

What are your thoughts on Pit and Dark Pit's connection? I think they are somewhat like brothers or twins haha. Greetings!
Thank you for the ask! I've always loved their dynamic, definitely twin vibe for sure. But, there's also more layers to that with how they're so connected. As Dark Pit put it, "No you no me. Two sides of the same coin."
Sure, at first, they just seem like the stereotypical "good vs. evil!!!" But there's so much more to them than that (and smash bros is so wrong for watering it down to that 💔)
The way their dynamic develops through the story is just soooo good! The way they start off loathing each other (Chapters 5-13), but Dark Pit doesn't entirely hate Pit, seen with him helping in Chapter 9, is perfect. Then, of course, after Pit gets left as a ring and Dark Pit is... un-himself... Dark Pit finally realized he shouldn't hate Pit. Sure, they stay bickering here and there, but what siblings don't? Especially with how emotionally charged Dark Pit's origins are, being no more than a dark clone who was supposed to be a rival to Pit.
Then, of course, Pit's sacrifice furthers this realization. The fact that Pit was so willing to save him, even at the expense of his own wings, truly melted away any more actual hatred. So, when Pit needed Dark Pit's help instead, he's immediately willing to return the favor. Sure, he acts like he doesn't really care about saving Pit, but Dark Pit likes to appear more independent. That, of course, coming from Pit's own inner desires to be independent, but I've already made a post about how they reflect the other's own repressed emotions, so I won't go into that.
Anyways, TLDR: I love how they're more than just good and evil twins and actually have complicated feelings toward each other.

Fun fact! Despite all gods in ki:u being capable of teleporting other beings and objects, they actively choose to instead use a cannon to transport items rather than using more energy than they'd prefer.
Angel Cannon:
"A transport device used by the gods and capable of delivering all manner of objects over long distances with a single booming shot."
I personally find this, although a very small part of ki:u, to be a perfect addition to characterize the gods and just how greedy, selfish, and even lazy they can be. This is even demonstrated when Viridi uses it to transport Pit, even though truly she could just teleport him closer to the Lighting Chariot Base.

Are there any interesting differences in localization for Possessed Palutena and maybe Pseudo Palutena, too? Love seeing your localisation posts they're such interesting reads🫶
Thank you for your ask! And thank you for your blog and your posts too, they're a lot of fun :)
I actually did a whole post on possessed Palutena. It's super interesting and it's probably one of my favorite posts. Take a look here (never realized you could attach a hyperlink to a word so uhhh let's hope it works??).
So instead let's talk about pseudo-Palutena. The differences between versions are pretty mundane but interesting nonetheless, I think. Unlike possessed Palutena, pseudo-Palutena's tone of voice is pretty much identical between versions. The key difference is that in Japanese she kinda just says the same thing over and over while in English she has unique things to say with every line. Let's take a listen below...
The whole scene is split across several audio files so I'll just rapid-fire them all right here... Here goes!
Whoa, those are some serious voice cracks. These kinds of things really are hard to notice when music and sound effects are playing, huh? But hey, you really get to hear that something is seriously off about Palutena. And there is a little bit of back and forth between her and Pit.
In contrast, Palutena doesn't really participate in the conversation in the Japanese version. I'll rapid-fire again with translations below:
Pit: Lady Palutena?! Why are you in this place?
Palutena: Ahahahahahaha. Now then Pit, please finish yourself.
Pit: H-hey!! Dyntos! This is beyond poor taste!
Dyntos: Sorry about that. But, if that's a fake Palutena, where is the real Palutena?
Pit: Huh? Lady Palutena? Lady Palutena? No response...
Palutena: Now then Pit, please finish yourself!
Pit: Huh?? Is she the real thing?! This is troubling. Should I really defeat her?
Palutena: Finish yourself!
Palutena: Please finish yourself!
Pit: What the heck is that?! Of course it's a fake. I'm glad I decided to attack!
Pit: You fake!
Palutena: Finish yourself!
There you have it. Pseudo-Palutena's just a broken record in the Japanese version. But otherwise they've got the same overall tone of voice.
Maybe the translation was a little bit awkward. But this time it isn't as a result of me rendering things literally. In this scene, Palutena's using various iterations of ヤラレてしまう (yararete shimau). We can break this down into やる (yaru) and しまう (shimau). Like I discussed in a number of posts, やる (yaru) can mean a whole lotta things (it's usually equated to "to do" in English) but in this context it's probably something along the lines of "to kill." Palutena's using the passive variant here, or やられる (yarareru). In other words, it's more like "to be/get killed." しまう (shimau) meanwhile is more of an auxiliary verb that gives the implication of an action being done to completion or its fullest extent. If I were to translate やられてしまう (yararete shimau) I'd probably say it's like "to be/get completely done in." But that's a bit lengthy, don't you think? Fortunately we can contract it to simply やられちゃう (yararechau).
Apologies for the grammar lesson. The reason I'm bringing all of this up is because this is the Japanese version's equivalent of "I'm finished." Any instance of "being finished" in the English version is instead replaced with some variant of ヤラレちゃう (yararechau) in the Japanese version (the main verb is always rendered in katakana for what I presume to be stylization purposes). So on that basis, I chose to translate it as "finish." But if we really wanted to be blunt about it, pseudo-Palutena's essentially telling Pit to kill himself over and over.
Sadly I'm not quite done on this note. Bear with me. As the scene progresses, Palutena's speech becomes more informal. This is super notable because Palutena uses formal speech 99% of the time. Her deviation from this norm is a telltale sign that it's an imposter speaking.
First she says ヤラレてしまいなさい (yararete shimainasai). なさい (nasai) is how one would render a polite command issued from a figure of authority. Next she says ヤラレちゃいなさい (yararechainasai). The sentiment of a polite command is retained, but now she's contracted the word so it comes across as a wee bit less formal. Then she says ヤラレちゃえ (yararechae) which is probably as informal as you can get when it comes to issuing commands. It's both a contraction and the informal imperative form. This particular imperative form has a masculine feel to it. When her true identity as an imposter is revealed, she regresses to ヤラレちゃいなさい (yararechainasai) but her final line is once again ヤラレちゃえ (yararechae).
One last thing! Her model and portrait have a small difference between versions...
Do you see it? It's on her forehead. The Japanese version has オレ (ore) written on it. The Japanese language features a plethora of different first-person pronouns with varying degrees of formality and gender expression. オレ (ore), or 俺 as it's typically written, is an extremely informal and extremely masculine first-person pronoun. It would only be used with close friends. I think the joke here is it's very unfitting for Palutena. The English version simply uses a backwards letter "P." It seems someone's been taking notes from Waluigi...
And that's all! Honestly, thanks for bringing this up at all because otherwise I would have probably never covered it. Chapter 24 is easily my least favorite level in the game so I don't revisit it often. As a result, this moment completely escaped my mind.
As always, feel free to hit up my inbox if there's anything in particular you'd like me to look at that I haven't already. Doesn't matter how big or small.
#this is so awesome#I love Pseudo Palutena#thank you hervy#kid icarus#kid icarus uprising#palutena#lady palutena#quick add on#I love how she keeps basically saying “you should kill yourself NOW!”

Fun fact! In the jump from ki to ki:u, there are three whole gods who don't get mentioned. These are Uranos, god of the sky, the god of poverty, and the friendly god

I can't help but be a little curious as to why they never get mentioned. Unless they do, and I just can't find it...

I need Divinipedia to add a comment section or add patch notes like the Mario Wiki at this point because I need some citations for this...

Someone put it back??? Edits were made by an account made yesterday; different person from who originally added the info.

what are your thoughts on Pit and Dark Pit as characters? I love your blog!
Thank you for the ask! (And the compliment c:) I've always really liked Pit and Pittoo, their dynamic, and their designs.
Pit is just positively exploding with character. He's goofy and silly, determined, a bit dense on occasion, can be fairly sassy, and has some more hidden traits revealed through Dark Pit that I think are perfect.
Dark Pit, of course, is the manifestation of the feelings and thoughts that Pit has deep down and doesn't talk about. Through Dark Pit, we see that Pit also wishes to be more independent. He really enjoys fighting, even if it's odd for an angel. He thinks that some of the gods make some STUPID decisions and are greedy and selfish.
I also really like Pit as a representation of non visible disabilities. This, of course, is through his inability to fly on his own like most angels (and divine beings in general). While he is disabled, he doesn't let it stop him from pursuing his passions and being successful. He never lets it slow him down.
And while Pit has a disability aid in the power of flight, it isn't a perfect solution that never fails him. It's REALISTIC. Many characters in media with disabilities will get a device to help with their disability and suddenly, they never have issues again, which simply isn't true.
The power of flight is limited on how long he can use it. He can't activate it on his own, and it can be influenced by other gods who aren't even the ones who activated it. And, of course, if he pushes it, he will hurt himself.
The way that other characters act towards his disability is also fairly accurate. Such as with Lady Palutena, as his mother figure she does lightly tease him about it, which is accurate. ("His wings just don't work right." And brushing off his wish to fly by himself.) But overall, she still wishes the best for him, going to great lengths to keep him safe.
As someone with a non visible disability (I have a type of night blindness, making it significantly harder for me to see in dark areas), I really appreciate the representation that Pit brings. Especially since he remains super capable and isn't often thought of as inferior because of his disability. Of course, when he is thought of as less than, he quickly proves himself as a menace.
Anyways, this ended up longer than I thought, and a lot more about Pit than Dark Pit, so double oops 😓 thanks for reading if you did!
