BOOK SPOILER
You know what amuses me the most?
Aemond - a great, undefeated warrior, an excellent swordsman, a brave man, someone who (according to fans) would defeat Daemon single-handedly...
This is the only person Aemond has murdered single-handedly, not hiding behind Vhagar. His only opponent - besides his teacher - whom Aemond has fought.

What a great victory!
Yes, he is by far the best swordsman of his time, and the best sword.

witches of a song of ice and fire:
Alys Rivers
“Who was this woman? A serving wench who dabbled in potions and spells, says Munkun. A woods witch, claims Septon Eustace. A malign enchantress who bathed in the blood of virgins to preserve her youth, Mushroom would have us believe.”

Of course a post dated before s2 didn’t age well?
- Jace came up with the idea to recruit bastards himself
- Jace was close to Addam and Netty
- Jace was the one who supported Corlys’ wish to have Addam legitimized
- Show!Jaces internalized self-hate doesn’t make Aemond any less of a blood purist. He was spouting that rhetoric as a child.
The route they took with Jace in HotD is a definite twist that not a lot of people saw coming based on his actions in F&B, but one I’ve enjoyed immensely. If you want an updated status of me talking about Jace, here you go:

One day we need to have a legitimate discussion on how Jace and Luke weren’t even bullies and how a huge factor in Aemonds internalized rage is his perspective on blood purity. Oh, and how Aegon was really Aemonds biggest bully. And that day is today.
- Alicent herself knew this was true. “You may cuff him about as you wish at home, but in the world we must defend our own” she says after trying to frame Jace and Luke as “savages.”
-Alicent refers to Jace and Luke as Aegons “playthings” in the same scene. What kind of power dynamic do you really think was at play here? Aegon clearly liked to toy with his vastly younger nephews and influenced them.
- Mind you, Jace and Luke were 5-7 years old and NOT aware of the feud that ran in their frayed family. They lack the awareness of characters like Aemond and Aegon who are repeatedly reminded by Alicent that Rhaenyra’s family is a THREAT and that they are bastards who are beneath them in station.
-In contrast, there is not a single scene of Rhaenyra speaking about Aegon, Aemond, or Helaena in derogatory ways to her children. Even in the books, it’s evident that the feud between the children is entirely one-sided with the Greens growing up and *learning* to resent Jace, Luke, and Joff.
-the teasing in and of itself was so mild. What makes Aemond upset is that he doesn’t view Jace and Luke as his equals.
-to Jace and Luke, this was normal teasing. From Aemonds perspective, he’s being emasculated by younger boys who he views as sub-human and unworthy despite having dragons of their own because he’s been TOLD and ASSURED that they’re bastards.
- THIS IS WHY THE TEASING ACTUALLY SETS HIM OFF, NOT THE SEVERITY. Need we be reminded how strongly Aemond feels about “blood purity”? In a show about the Targaryen dynasty, he’s the only character to mention it.
Bonus:
- Aegon hating and wanting to tease Aemond is so on brand for them as characters. Aemond is a momas boy and Aegon is the disappointment. The allure to make his life hell is there, and what better way to do that than get their bastard nephews to help him undermine Aemond even more?

otto’s word about aegon: aegon targaryen sits the iron throne. He wears the conqueror's crown, wields the conqueror's sword, has the conqueror's name.
maegor targaryen: maegor targaryen sat the iron throne. He wore the conqueror's crown, held the conqueror's sword, was the Conqueror's son.
What these two characters have in common is that they both usurped the throne from the rightful heirs, aegon targaryen (eldest son of aenys, known as the uncrowned) and rhaenyra targaryen. The fact that both aegon and rhaenyra are not recognised as sovereigns (in the case of rhaenyra it is practically the thing on which the greens focus most attention) does not in any way alter the fact that they remain the rightful heirs. Maegor and aegon can have as many coronations as they wish and infinite supporters, but they will never be lawful kings, in fact they suffered the same fate as every other usurper in asoiaf's world, they were killed without heirs and their bloodline died resulting in the ascension to the throne of jaehaerys targaryen and aegon iii targaryen (brother of aegon the uncrowned and son of rhaenyra targaryen respectively) who continued the targaryen dynasty

“Daddy said so” being the culminating conclusion people come to regarding Rhaenyras claim makes me lose a few brain cells every time I see it.
Rhaenyra grew up seeing her mother constantly pregnant and in mourning as child after child left her in her husbands pursuit for a son. Viserys killed her in a blind bid for a boy that meant more to him than Rhaenyra or Aemma at the time. What other message does that send other than her own father viewing her as worthless and her mother as a mere tool?
Then her father looks at her one day and says “I was a fool, you and your mother were always enough," only to have that be contested/lose a friend in one awful swipe.
I doubt Rhaenyra ever believed Viserys' words. She was just waiting for the other shoe to drop and for him to say "nevermind, I have Aegon now, screw Aemma and you." This is why she so easily believed Alicent when she claimed he changed his mind.
In many ways, her "entitlement" to the crown ties back to those she lost in its shadow. Aemma, Luke, and Visenya. It's personal for her.
