For once in my life I’d like to see Tywin and the Mountain getting their lashings for what they did to Elia. Or Robert for saying “I see no babes, only dragonspawn” when shown the dead bodies of Rhaenys and Aegon.

For some reason, they are almost always absent in every fan discourse about Elia/her children and it feels like they get away with it.

People will understand Alicent’s fear of Rhaenyra for demanding Aemond be “sharply questioned” but forget the ten years of context in which Rhaenyra had to fend for her children against Alicent’s dangerous threats/attacks + how—in one fell swoop—Harwin is murdered, Otto is promoted, and Larys becomes Lord prior to this event…

Oh, but Rhaenyra grasping the opportunity at Driftmark to make Alicent stand down once is “proof” that she is wantonly dangerous?? Please, Rhaenyra was backed into a corner for the majority of S1 and had more substantial reasons to be fearful of Alicent.

Unlike Alicent, Rhaenyra has ten years of definitive proof that Alicent does not care about directly endangering her or her children. Alicent, on the other hand, founds her fears on one lie.

1) Driftmark, as a seat, has never been Rhaenyras to give or take away. Those decisions lay in Laenor and Corlys’ hands. Both of which loved and recognized Luke as part of their family.

2) Rhaenyra does not and has never wanted Driftmark. The only reason she stakes Luke’s claim is because he is Laenors recognized son and to not fight for it at all would only put her children at risk.

3) Baela is Targaryen, not Velaryon. She is heir to the throne and the Seven Kingdoms, not Driftmark.

4) In what world does Baela get Driftmark and bypass Vaemond as heir peacefully? Surely not the world where the first female heir to the throne is plunged into a Civil War and is killed for fighting for her claim.
