King of Prism -Dramatic PRISM.1- will be in theaters in Japan 8/16/24.

It sounds like a compilation/remaster of everyone's shows from the PRISM.1 in SSS, plus a full CG live of Dramatic Love.

So, in other words, another theater experience similar to Best 10 rather than a new movie with plot.

Love Live periodically does collabs with various pro sports teams, and Nijigasaki is doing one with my favorite Japanese baseball team!

Admittedly, they're my favorite entirely because I consistently misparse their name.

See, Japanese teams are a little more transparent about being owned by corporations rather than cities. So the team is the Fighters, and they're owned by Tokyo Ham, which makes them the (Tokyo Ham) (Fighters). But because there's a city name in there, my American brain wants them to be the (Tokyo) (Ham Fighters).

Himitsu no AiPri 3

Okay! It seems like someone did pick this up for fansubbing, so I don't need to post detailed summaries anymore.

From now on I'll just be making reaction posts when I feel like it. So...

AiPri Birthday? What's that? Do they mean AiPri Verse Day? Maybe?

Mitsuki was genuinely surprised that Himari has to keep being an AiPri secret. So yeah, "Secret AiPri" just refers to Himari?

Also, Himari translated what the principal has been saying for me haha. The principal just doesn't want students to get too distracted by AiPri. If they do, she will ban it. So, Himari causing a big stir would threaten all of the students losing their AiPri privileges. Got it. That does kinda make sense.

The student council wonders why Principal Victoria has such a grudge against AiPri so... yeah, there's something there. I hope it's not an exact repeat of Gloria's story from PriPara, because that was done so well already.....

So, this episode we got to know the student council a little bit better and honestly................ I love all of them.

Airi still stands out to me, but all of them all have charm.

Oh, and Sakura too........

I couldn't help thinking Sakura reminds me of someone but I couldn't quite pinpoint who. But then I realized... I... I might actually be thinking of Hibiki.

Like, an alternate universe Hibiki who was never abandoned as a child ._. Her will to protect AiPri, and the masculine kinda way she addresses the other characters... but she's so kind... ahhh...

It seems like, at least at first, we are gonna have some focus on duos. Neat. I wonder if the other groups will become trios eventually too...

(It's freakin insane that Himari and Mitsuki are gonna team up with HANAYO btw. Everyone gets so excited with μ's reunites but Pretty Series is a μ's reunion all on its own.)

Ahhh I am warming up to this series a little bit. Mostly because of Sakura, Airi, Tsumugi... all the characters who are not Himari and Mitsuki..........

Wonderful Precure 12

MAAAAAAAAAAN

This season is so unique, so refreshing. As far as I know, the main conflict in this episode (which was left unresolved and will probably take some time) is something that has never happened in Precure before?

Also I could be wrong about this too, but is the first season they are just making up words? (Friendy, Nyammy...) I don't like that as much, but oh well lol.

Watching the Hasunosora 2nd Live archive and I never knew that they don't have special call and response intros like the rest of the Love Live voice actresses do????

They just said konbanwa and that's it. So weird.

I know I saw them live at Koushien but nobody did their intros then (there were just too many lol).

So, actually have just one last thing. One last piece of unfinished business from my trip to Japan to post.

I'll link the post since it's been buried by now, but as most of you know I got to attend the Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live 10th Anniversary exhibition while I was visiting Japan in March 2024.

Wonderful Precure 11

I wasn't sure how I felt about Satoru, as I'm usually not a big fan of the token love interest male or sidekick character in magical girl shows, but this episode he won me over. Specifically with this face.

I still wish they would just make him a Cure, but.......

He decides to go to the mountains with Iroha and Komugi, even though he should know from the previous episode that he can't keep up with them. But still, he goes. And he even brings special treats for Komugi despite hoping it would be a date with Iroha!

Meanwhile, Mayu is a little jealous she didn't get invited... but well, at least Iroha eats lunch with you. (Satoru wasn't with them in the last episode.)

But yeah, I don't always like love subplots in girls anime, but gosh Satoru is such a sweetheart. If Iroha doesn't want him then

Look at him thinking he's gonna protect his girls when he knows they are Precure LOL sweet summer child Satoru you can protect me

I'm so proud of him for making it to the top of the mountain too!!

BEARS MAKE NESTS IN TREES!?

LOL the first animal fact I legit learned from this show. This is probably the most educational season of Precure too.

Okay like seriously, what to do if you see a bear in the woods is legit helpful for some Japanese children in certain areas hahah. There ARE bears.

So Yuki.... became a Precure......... without Mayu......... :(

This series understands cats a little too well. I like how they show that Mayu can love Yuki even if she's antisocial but.... :(

AiPri episode 2

Well. I watched it.

I still find the lack of an audience super awkward. Makes me wonder if this series was first conceived during the pandemic, when they thought performing online was going to be the future of idol activities...

Buzzilume is apparently a new system that only activates based on the audience reaching max enjoyment. None of the student council members have been able to trigger it yet. They seemed surprised that it happened in the last episode, and this is why.

It's the green-haired one that has the Kansai accent. I knew it. WAIT. That's Sora Tokui right!? She sounds so much like Nico except... Kansai. AHHHH. (Possible favorite.)

Sakura says the AiPri bracelet Himari has is a new kind. So Himari DID steal it from the student council!

Himari tries to return it, but the student council says they are gonna produce her instead. If it gets out that a student did Buzzilume Change it will reach the principal, and they aren't supposed to be doing AiPri stuff while at school? I think? (She's not saying 禁止, she's saying like 自習 or 自主??)

So Himari has to keep it a secret. I see. AiPri isn't inherently a secret, it's just this specific situation??

So, it turns out that Himari and Mitsuki promised to debut together when they were young, but both of them broke the promise.

They are roommates. Making for a very awkward confrontation when Himari gets home....

OH NO. STOP. REALLY. ARE WE REALLY DOING THIS.

Himari lies to Mitsuki about debuting. So, Mitsuki, who wanted to apologize for breaking the promise, doesn't get to say anything.

So both of them are keeping their debut a secret even though they both clearly know.

UUGGGHGH

(this is like worst case scenario for me. please let it resolve within this episode.....)

Is Himari eating cheesecake for breakfast.

(Okay I guess it's pound cake. Or toast... maybe...... I didn't see the full crust until I went back to pause it. It really looked like cheesecake when she was biting into it.)

Himari decides to do the right thing, only to find she can't because the student council is stalking her....................

Meanwhile, Mitsuki goes to talk to her brother. Apparently the reason she debuted before Himari is because she wanted to "research" AiPri first for Himari. So she says, anyway.

Himari goes to talk to her brother too. She doesn't explain the full details but he's also basically just like JUST TELL HER

But when Himari goes to find Mitsuki, Mitsuki has already entered AiPri verse and we get to see her transformation animation.

She leaves a note for Himari telling her to watch Miichan on AiPri Verse.

Chii performs first though... FOR A THREE SECOND CLIP. THEY PUT THAT IN THE LAST EPISODE'S PREVIEW. AND IT WAS LIKE THREE SECONDS.

HER SONG WAS ACTUALLY GOOD TOO. MY FAVORITE SO FAR.

Damn Chii really is just a joke isn't she............. I didn't feel bad for her being ignored in the last episode but now I kinda do.

The make-up portion of coord change reminds me so much of Sailor Moon. They showed off nails (and lips too I think?) during transformations because they were selling nail polish, etc. I guess that's another reason I do like the make-up toys.

The actual coord change sequence is shorter though, which is a little disappointing. The whole coord is on one card, after all (for the main AiPri game) but she's just kinda passively floating in space as the coord appears on her.....

Miichan gets Buzzilume Change!

(Like I'm not even kidding I had to shrink the window. Those lasers hurt.)

Mii beats Chii!

After the performance, Miichan announces she's changing her name to Mitsuki and quickly returns to confront Himari on... on her bed.

Mitsuki apologizes for debuting first. She wanted to study AiPri, but got carried away when she started having fun and realized she really wanted to be an AiPri. Himari gives her a headbonk and tells her the magic words her brother taught her, "I'm sorry." So Himari apologizes as well for debuting and keeping it a secret.

They realize they both had the same secret. So now it's their secret.

Mitsuki still won't tell Himari what she's gonna broadcast on her channel though heh.

(And now they are probably gonna have to fight the student council if they wanna be a team.)

Anyway, I'm glad Himari keeping her debut a secret from Mitsuki only lasted one episode.

Also glad Mitsuki changed her name. Earlier in the episode I was like umm are we gonna have Mii, Chii, and Hii?? Hmm. I was thinking Himari would just use her own name now that Mitsuki is but then again.... SECRETS.

Welp. I'm still not really feeling this, but I will keep watching. Especially um for... (okay I'll look up the name) Airi! Not that I know much about her yet just LOVE THE VOICE.

I also find it interesting how Rinrin (Lin-Lin?) has long fluffy hair IRL but ties it up when she's an AiPri. You never see that HAHA. Ahhh I can't wait to meet them hahah... Himari and Mitsuki are so bland and they make it hard to take Chii seriously.

Is this Chii's villain origin story right now omg that would be great.

Wonderful Precure 10

I love Komugi's chaotic school life (powered by... crystals??)

I love the image of Komugi, Mayu, and Iroha pushing their desks together to eat lunch and Mayu having no idea she's eating with Iroha's dog AHHHAHA AHHH will Yuki join them!!?

I love how they are taking their time with Mayu and Yuki. This feels like a LONG time for not having all the Cures featured in the intro. Does this mean they are not doing a surprise mid-season Cure!? Hmmm I hope that's not the case though. (Please no spoilers please....)

I love this show...........

Fresh Precure and Happiness Charge are very near and dear to my heart but I don't know man depending on how things go this might be my new favorite. I'm glad I decided to start watching again.

Okay one last AiPri post.

I've seen some posts about the two-toned hair girl in Himari and Mitsuki's class and I'm definitely curious about her too.

But I'm a bit more curious about this.

Himari is shown watching this idol when she has a flashback about why she wants to become an AiPri, and I realized... AiPri is lacking the adult senpai idol character, isn't it? (Anju, Jennifer, June, Saints...) Usually they are introduced in the first episode.

So is this someone???

Or wait.

Is this literally Jennifer?

Am I dumb and this is just Jennifer LOL.

Some further thoughts on AiPri.

Himari and Mitsuki's friendship is really sweet, but.....

.....

I also kinda hope there is a future episode or story arc in which Himari has to learn to be brave and stand on her own without Mitsuki.

Something that always stood out to me about the first episode of PriChan, and is still memorable to me to this day, is when Emo and Mirai were about to debut, despite all her big talk it was actually Emo who was nervous and Mirai who supported her. It painted a picture of this beautiful mutually supportive friendship.

Mirai deserves a lot more love IMHO. I feel like she's often forgotten in favor of more popular main characters like Laala and Aira but at least I appreciate her. Her defining character trait, at least to me is, even though she is somewhat soft spoken, she is very brave!

Himari... well, we'll see how she grows!

I think the reason I'm getting Mitsuki from AiPri's name wrong is because every time I hear the name "Mitsuki" in my head I hear it in Nagi's accent from IDOLiSH7... MiTUUUkiii

Okay, I watched AiPri episode 1

...........

First of all, the way they refer to AiPri is super different and it's jarring. Before, like, PriPara/PriChan/PriMagi was something you could do. AiPri is something you become. You don't do AiPri, you become an AiPri (Idol Princess)?

This will take some getting used to.

As I predicted from the day it was announced, Mitsuki is already an AiPri and Himari is already a fan not knowing it's her. Her AiPri name is Mii or Miichan and she broadcasts to her Miichannel (......).

Himari's sister Hiiro calls to make sure Himari isn't late and her mother reminds her to keep up with her skin and hair care......

Himari's room is ginormous, but it does seem like she has a roommate. (Mitsuki? It's implied that Mitsuki snuck out early to go do AiPri stuff.)

Himari is nervous about starting their first day of junior high and not knowing anyone, but Mitsuki nudges her forehead (their secret good luck sign) and takes her hand and they are off.

These guys are all the student council, apparently.

Himari and Mitsuki's brothers go to the school too. It's implied that Himari's brother is very protective of Himari, but Himari kinda has a crush on Mitsuki's brother.......

AiPri isn't outright banned I think(?), but the principal Victoria seems to be against it? I wasn't quite sure she said in her speech. (She's shown later in the episode watching AiPri though.)

After establishing that Himari is shy and could never see herself doing becoming AiPri, she spectacularly falls and flips over onto her bracelet, attaching it to her hand. (You know that viral clip of like a Bollywood actress fainting into a suitcase? It was basically that.......)

(Also wait... did she accidentally steal her bracelet from the student council!!?)

Himari is being forced to debut immediately even though she doesn't want to. Despite Himari not recognizing Mitsuki as Miichan, Mitsuki recognizes Himari immediately after seeing her on a screen for five seconds and runs to her. Mitsuki/Miichan asks why she's there, and Himari insists she was forced, but Michiru asks her, isn't it because you wanted to be an AiPri? Himari realizes this is true.

Mitsuki gives Himari their good luck headbonk and Himari finally realizes it's her. The secret's out already. (But, considering they were shown performing together in the OP I figured...)

I kinda like the CG. I like the soft shading.

The Buzzilume change kinda hurts my eyes though. Why do they need to have so many.... lasers...........

I've been wondering if Buzzilume comes from like... someone told them that "buzz" as in like "what's the buzz" means like rumor, i.e. secret or something haha.

Student council gets the VIP death star.

One of them has a thick Kansai accent but I'm not sure which because she wasn't on screen while she was talking.

Is this really supposed to be the audience?

Ugh, I dunno. It's just the beginning, but I thought this episode was super cringy. I got a lot of secondhand embarrassment from it. Specifically from the scenes below:

-There's this scene where Himari is forced to address the entire school despite neither knowing nor having any chance to prepare for it. They didn't make it seem like she knew and forgot, it just seemed like she was picked randomly. It was supposed to be like an analog for her debut and show how Himari actually can overcome anything (with a little help from Mitsuki) but like... that would never happen in real life. So cruel.

-Chi is determined to break all the rules and make AiPri as little a secret as possible. The joke is she's putting her secret out there but nobody will listen to her, but... in order to make that work, they've made her super annoying haha.... ha...

-Himari ROLLING OVER AND FALLING INTO HER BRACELET... REALLY.............

-Seeing Himari's mascot/manager felt like in PriChan when Rinka was showing off Silk except we are actually supposed to think it's cute........

-Realizing Himari overcame her fears and put everything into performing to.... a bunch of.... floating c...cards.........?

Welp. Neither Himari nor Mitsuki left a big impression on me and Chi was kind of annoying. Looking forward to getting to know the student council at least, I'm pretty sure I'll find my favorite there.

Also the yellow girl does seem to be the Rinne character, as her voice was inviting Himari to the AiPri Verse and she has like, triangle pupils. It's also heavily implied in the OP that she is indeed Mitsuki and Himari's teammate. We'll see, we'll see.

Oh, and Himari didn't choose a name for her AiPri persona in this episode. Mitsuki is Mii so... (Hii? lol)
