How can you defend a woman like Patti?
u mean how can i defend a woman whos been in this business all her life? whos been professionally trained & has decades of experience in both theater & acting? a woman who simply knows when to criticize a project that interfered with her own show that she was so incredibly proud of & passionate about? cancel me. but this was about the the craft, the venue, never about an artist or race

By now most of you have read the interview and I only have a few things to say. Let us all calm down. We know how she is, she tells things as they are, so let's not pretend that we are surprised by what she's said because there's no reason for it.
Now, she's lived a very long life and you can't look at her experiences and diminish them or get mad because you are not her, you did not live them, none of us were part of that so we have no right to say that this or that was right or wrong. It happened, she talks about it because it's her life, move on. About the entire Hells Kitchen thing, let's all calm our tits down.
Let's not pretend that in our field of work we haven't used our experience and amount of articles, projects, shows... as an excuse or explanation for something. Everyone does it, she's entitled to use her work experience as an argument. And no, she wasn't racist, she would have called any other actor or actress out like that regardless of skin colour and never, at any point, did she mention or even imply that the other lady was less because of her skin. This woman is 76, she has been through hell and back, she's entitled to her opinions and we all know how she is.
Let's all calm down and stop losing our minds over a single interview when she's given thousands of other interviews and she's talked about other sensitive topics. You can agree or disagree with her, but let's not look for ghosts where there are none because most of the stuff written in this article was already out there in the world. Patti isn't perfect, of course, and she has said questionable things in he life, yes, but so have many others before and after her and the world keeps spinning, so let's not make a mountain out of a grain of sand because it's not that big of an issue. We like Patti and her work, she's fucking brilliant at what she does and she is both a force to be reckoned with and a very lovely lady and we all know her duality.
Agree or disagree, in truth she's already made her name and she's living her life without a care in the world, so let's all simply chill and move on. We are digging up old stories that had already been solved when there's no need. She was asked, she answered in the way she always answers everything, end of story.
And just a reminder if I wasn't clear before, the things she talks about are her life, not just random things that happened like a cold or shit like that, they are situations that she lived and we have no fucking clue how things truly developed because we weren't there, so let's stop, take a deep breath and think of whether we are making this a far bigger issue that it needs to be when we don't have and will neve have all the facts. Patti is a strong willed person and she doesn't sugarcoat stuff, we already knew she might say things we might not like or that we would have addressed differently, but it is what it is and in truth no harm has been done, we can calm down and move on with our lives.
That's my opinion. You can agree or disagree, up to you, just let's be mindful that there are interviews out there of other people in which horrid things have been said and people haven't lost their shit because of them.

I'm asking very respectfully about your opinion on the Patti article. Do you think she is racist?
she is not. regardless of how poorly this article was published just no—patti is not racist. idek how this guy is allowed to publish biased articles like that. she never made a racist comment. she said hells kitchen was too loud, yes. she was talking about an error in the production which interfered with her own play & it was turned into something racist. she made a single comment "its too loud" which never mentioned any actors or performances. yet people twisted her words. visitors of her play confirmed that the next door play was too loud, that they could hear it while trying to watch "the roommate". and kecia made a video (which i believe was on tiktok of all places?) dragging patti. interpreting her words like it was a valid thing—patti never said any of those things. its a subjective understanding. kecia interpreted her words. yes, i understand that it could b hurtful. but did patti ever say its the artists fault? no. she only ever talked about the sound. her reaction to calling kecia a bitch might have been too much but not for me. she criticized someone who came for her for no reason.
& what happened between audra & her is none of our business. so yeah she might not like the performance. but maybes she does & sje simply doesnt wanna talk about it. yall need to get a fucking grip

I'm not trying to defend Patti's actions in any way. She does need to be held accountable. But y'all are acting like she's the first person to ever be rude or give criticism. Obviously as a fandom we have seen a shift in her behaviour so something is clearly wrong in her life. Yes I do feel bad for the other women who were affected by the situation but it's life it happens to the best of us. It's probably not the first or last time they are going to get criticism. Whatever is happening between them is there business and we should leave it alone and go back to being a happy fandom. This is not looking past how the others are affected this is acknowledging what went wrong and moving on.

Patti has always been a shady cunt and indiscriminately messy.
I fear that a lot of people discovered Patti through Agatha All Along and think she’s a cutesy old lady, and I believe in general women are expected to be docile and demure, especially as we age. She can be those things, but Patti Ann is also a headstrong, controversial loudmouth and that’s one of the many reasons why we love her.

This exactly
I never post anything but I'm sick of seeing all this terrible stuff happening in this fandom. Patti is a human being who made a mistake. She like many other celebrities have before her said something she should not have. But we need to get over it. Yes it was not nice but there are so many celebrities who have said and done so much worse than her. At the end of the day it's just words get over it.
