As an astrophycist yourself, got an idea what sigma was trying to acomplish?

Aside from the lame answer of “something with gravity” I don’t really know. He did mention “The Unified Theories” which I assume is a reference to Unified Field Theory, which is a way of connecting Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity to Quantum Mechanics. So far that’s proven to be nearly impossible, with people having spent literally their entire lives researching it and trying to prove it. We’ve come close, and Einstein was certain it had to be true, but it’s tough to connect Quantum Mechanics to anything, partly because of its scale and the fact that we don’t really have a solid idea of where Quantum Mechanics stops ruling over things and where Newtonian/Lagrangian Mechanics takes over (in terms of the literal size of the object being affect).

Blizzard also talks about how the music Sigma hears (Erik Satie’s  Gnossienne No.1 if Reddit is right lol) is being played on the harmonic strings of the universe. Quantum Harmonics is a pretty big deal, and basically is how everything on a quantum scale can be modeled pretty well by a harmonic oscillator (like a spring that just continues to oscillate the exact same way forever). So that’s pretty neat and throws him further into the camp of messing around with understanding Quantum Mechanics. Apparently the song he hears is famous for not have a time signature, which definitely fits in with his theme of being outside of/in control of the known laws of physics considering Time was Einstein’s fourth dimension (and ours too, but he really solidified that one lol).

So if I had to guess, Sigma was trying to figure out a way to confirm Unified Field Theory, and likely succeeded. Considering this would theoretically allow us to understand the universe of an incredibly deep level, Blizzard is probably going with the “I looked into the TARDIS and the TARDIS looked into me” kinda deal where he learned too much and went mad. Or perhaps his experiments literally caused him to become split between two dimensions (or something like that).

I can create another variant if people would like that more. I actually wasn't familiar with the intersex flag at all when I made this-- I just really identify with the color combination and the circular motif. If you have suggestions for other color combinations I'd be happy to make them.
