“well, if you insist.” he held out the smaller box to her that he had been balancing on top of a rather large sack. “nothing there is breakable but dropping it is still frowned upon.”
“well, luckily for you, it worked. this time.” she replied with a smile. the witch walked over to him before continuing. “really though, can i help?”

lucas sighed as he gave up on juggling the objects in his arms. “i figured my pathetic struggles would invoke the offer of a kinder soul,” he remarked teasingly, smirking at her laughter.
davina looked over at the other, who seemed to be struggling, and gave a small laugh before speaking up. “you know, if you need help, all you need to do is ask.”

Luke scrubbed at his face, pondering if he should shave or not in the near future as he felt the scruff along his jaw line. “Hm, talk big or small but don’t expect anything in the ways of an intelligent response.” Truthfully he loved the sound of his husband’s voice. It would be disastrous if he didn’t since there had been times often that Wes broke out into a long speech of science that Luke only half understood.
“Of course.” He knew more than anyone that Luke’s gamble was as transparent as his terms. Wes knew his tastes inside and out – his memory impeccable. Momentarily eyeing his tired lover, he withheld a laugh. “Should I save the small talk?”

Luke smiled broadly at the chaste kiss, taking his seat across from his husband. “I’ll have to thank you later then if you order my favorite,” he spoke with a smirk, knowing full well Wes had when it came to his coffee. Age may have made Luke wiser but it did nothing to tame him like the sweet bitterness of coffee.
“Well aware,” he teased, leaning in to give Luke a gentle peck to his lips. “I’ve ordered for you; it shouldn’t be long now.” Wes was pretty confident that there wouldn’t be a problem with the selection. “Coffee included.”

“I do try.” He chuckled, shaking his head. “But it’s fair to say that worse things could’ve happened.”
“I can barely imagine it. You are a true champ.”

“Then looks like it’s all mine.” Luke took the coffee gratefully, giving a nod in thanks. “Were you waiting long?”
“It would appear as though it’s your lucky day because the coffee is still hot.”

“As long as mine is still hot I will gladly be taking it.”
“Don’t worry about it. And you should really be thanking me because I’ve already ordered two coffees. One for you and one for me. Or you know, two for me. I’m cool either way.”

Luke looked up from the clothing rack he had occupied himself with while she tried on the outfit. “A win is a win. Now, aren’t you glad your father has some fashion sense?” He chuckled, smiling at his daughter. “Now that we’ve found something that’s not all leather. Ready for lunch?”

Eli took the outfit with a brief, judgmental glance. “At least the sweater’s soft. And I guess the jeans are pretty dark,” she mumbled, heading off to the dressing room. She reappeared a moment later. “Okay, so I’m gonna give you a win on this one. Mostly because I think I could actually sleep in these jeans.”
