"gosh, it's brutal out here." you say as chewed on the gum minsu gave you. you gave the couple that was making out a disgusted glance and twirled your hair in between your fingers.

"that's cho chanhyuk, he's a year older and also the notorious playboy of our school." minsu explained as he stood behind you. "i would recommend you staying away from him in case he breaks your heart."

"break my heart? what if i break his first. looks like you don't know me that as well as you claim kim minsu." you smirked, walking away as the bell rings.

"you're a girl after all, chan isn't as easy as you think. he isn't like sungmin." he said and you nodded mindlessly.

"we can test it out, can't we?" you grinned, turning back and making eye contact with him. "he looks... easy."

day 7

"new girl!" someone shouted after you as you climbed the stairs.

you turned around looking at him and narrowed your eyes. you remembered him vividly, of course, how could you forget? you raised a brow at him, urging him to continue as he seemed like he had something to say.

"have lunch with me?" he asked and you grimaced.

"and here i am, thinking you'd be better at asking a girl out." you scoffed, shaking your head and continued walking upstairs.

chan didn't seem to be easily defeated by your snarky comment though, instead, he seemed to be even more interested in you, following you up to the rooftop.

you decided not to question him, enjoying the silence and peace without your chatterbox cousin minsu. you leaned forward, taking in the busy streets of seoul quietly.

"why'd you transfer?" chan muttered, breaking the silence as he stood beside you, looking down at the busy streets too.

"no reason, just hated my previous school." you lied, shrugging. "and you, why are you constantly toying around girls' feelings?" you looked at him and he shrugged.

"no reason, just felt like it." he snickered and you nodded, looking away.

"you dated so many girls and yet never fell in love. kinda impressive." you replied sarcastically.

"love is a bad word. it isn't real." chan sighed and you frowned.

"who says? love exists. my aunt and uncle, they love each other dearly." you glared at him.

"you act like you don't toy around with boys." he retorted, glaring right back at you.

you took in a deep breath, suppressing your anger and faked a smile at him.

"love exists but i'm one of the few who doesn't deserve it." you swallowed down the lump in your throat and walked away.

chan stood rooted to the ground, staring at your shadows that was getting smaller and smaller as you got further and further away.

you situated yourself under a tree and looked up into the sky, repeating to yourself under your breath, "love does exist."

day 24

you took your seat in the library, opening up your laptop as you prepared to work on an overdue assignment. plugging in your earphones, you played your favourite playlist and sighed, looking through the articles.

chan spotted you from a far and grinned, silently creeping behind you and took the seat beside you. you looked over at him, sulking at his appearance.

"cho chanhyuk, there's so many empty seats, why sit beside me?" you rolled your eyes and turned back your attention to the screen in front of you.

"whatever, i just missed you." chan pouted, taking one side of your earpiece. "what are you working on?"

"go away chanhyuk, not now." you huffed, irritated at his presence.

chan seemed to get the cue immediately and remained quiet for the rest of the time he was with you.

after a while, you got weirdly uneasy at the silence with him and sneakily stole a glance of him. a small smile made it's way onto your lips as you saw him sleeping soundly beside you. you quietly took out the earbud that was resting in his ear and plugged it back into your own ear.

you frowned, noticing the sun was shining right into his eyes. heaving a sigh, you lifted your hand and hovered it over his eyes as an attempt to block the sunlight from him and continued to study the articles.

unbeknown to you, chan was awake. he opened his eyes after realizing the bright light that was shining into his eyes was gone. he struggled to keep a straight face as he noticed the hand that was hovering over his eyes protecting him from the sunlight.

love was starting to reintroduce itself to the two of them.

day 67

"haven't you noticed? chan hasn't been dating or messing around with anyone for the past month..." minsu frowned in confusion as the both of you walked past chan's group of friends.

"really? maybe he decided that the playboy lifestyle isn't the way." you replied, uninterested as you looked at your nails. "don't you think this-"

"you haven't been messing around with anyone either. have you not noticed?" he said frustratedly and narrowed his eyes at you.

"as i was saying, don't you think this colour matches me well? it isn't as ugly as i thought." you ignored him and continued looking at your nails.

"of course it does." you heard the same annoying voice say as he wrapped his arms around your shoulder.

you looked up at him and gave him a look, "yeah okay, getting these removed."

chan snickered and he hugged you tighter, unknowingly you lean into his hold. minsu gave the both of you a look and shook his head in disappointment before trudging away.

"okay but, purple suits you well, you should keep it." chan complimented, tucking a hair strand behind your ear.

"is that so?"

day 94

your collection of purple has started to grow larger and larger. even your liking towards the colour grew. everyone but you and chan noticed of course.

the two players turned out to be the ones most oblivious to these scenarios.

"cho chanhyuk!" you called after him, running up to him.

"what's up?" he grinned, patting your head gently.

"nothing." you looked away, eyes wandering as an unfamiliar feeling succumbs you.

an unusual swarm of butterflies flew in your stomach, it was as if spring had sprung in you. you turned to look at chan, only to see him staring right down at you.

"i wanna be with you, always. i think i'm in love with you." chan confessed and you grinned.

"i told you love existed."

“yeah like i didn’t have the nickname sneaky swiper for nothing. this would be a piece of cake” before you could react any further. an employee handed the two of you, game wavers and name tags.

you stare at keita who just blindly signed the waver without even reading it. “did you even read the whole thing?” you ask keita. keita looks up at you and grins.

“nope. hurry up and sign it so we could play” you took a glance at him one last time before muttering, “here goes nothing” you took a breath and signed the waver, handing it to the employee who was waiting.

“follow me” the employee orders. taking you and keita to the changing room

“okay. so here’s your bow and arrow hearts. use them wisely for the next 30 minutes. there would be other people joining the two of you. try and not to get shot. it’s that easy.” the employee explains the rules. you look over at keita who’s jumping in his seat. “i’ll see you on the other side!!” he says excitedly.

“okay, timer starts… now!” the employee opens the door to the arena. you see keita run off to who knows where.

“WAIT KEITA DONT leave.. me” you tried to catch up to him but it was no use. he’s gone. “great. now i’m stuck here for the next 1 hour” you grumble, walking towards a bakery. you took a peek inside and saw, nothing but then you heard heavy footsteps. you quickly hid behind the counter, putting your arrow hearts in place in case the person decides to jump out of no where.

“fucking finally. some quiet place to hide.” you hear the person sigh in relief. you hear the chair squeak indicating they took a seat. you hear the person stand up and walk around. as they got to the counter, you popped your head up making the poor stranger jump in surprise.

“oH MY GOD PLEASE DONT SHOOT ME” the tall looking boy tries desperately to grab his arrow hearts and his bow behind him. due to shaking hands, he dropped them to the floor. the boy looked like a flustered mess. you took a glance at him. he was wearing an all black outfit. black sweater with black ripped jeans with his hair tousled. he looked kinda hot

“like what you see.. uhh, y/n?” he reads your name tag. you felt your cheeks get red. “I do not!… yoonbin” you read his name tag. he looked kinda smug from then on.

“so what are you doing here? were you hiding?” he asks.

“why should I tell you? for all i know you could shoot me right now?” you raised an eyebrow at him.

“sis, i’m literally hiding as well if you can’t notice. my friends dragged me into this and people have been gushing over this place. they say they found their ‘soulmates’ in this game and i think we should really sue their companies for using, magic or some voodoo shit. shit’s illegal” he rambled.

“okay then smartass, i was hiding as well” you confessed. “great now we have… 40 more minutes to wait till this shit is over. so why won’t we get to know each other?” yoonbin looks over at his watch and grabs the seat in front of him, patting it.

“that’s wild. for a first timer” you complimented him. he showed his gummy smile for the nth time today. “thanks. I know” he batted his eyelashes making you roll your eyes.

“I think time’s almost up. let’s actually try and play for a bit. you know? to not waste 30$ for this” you stood up from your seat, stretching and grabbing your things.

“okay. i’ll see you later” he waves goodbye to you as you jogged out of the bakery.

you’ve been walking around the arena for about 10 minutes now.

“why is keita so fascinated with this stuff. this is the most boring thing i’ve ever played” you kicked a rock. unfortunately to your luck, the rock bounced to a metal wall and it made a loud noise.

“goddamn it. fuck!” you muttered to yourself before rapidly looked around for a place to hide. you found a small spot in the bushes and quickly ran over there and squatted down, getting your arrow hearts ready. you see a person’s leg and you quickly shot the arrow at it.

“ouch!” a familiar voice cries. you jumped out of the bush to see yoonbin standing there with your arrow heart stuck to his leg. you ran up to him, grabbing his arm,

“oh my god, are you okay?!” you ask him, worry evident in your voice. he plucks the arrow heart from his leg, flicking it away.

“yeah. it just felt like i got bitten by an ant. no worries” he pats your head. before you could say anything, the loud bell rings indicating that it was over.

“it’s over! yay!” yoonbin celebrates. “c’mon. let’s go back now” he grabs your hand dragging you to the lobby where the scoreboards could be seen.

“oOf, jihoon’s gonna be a player real soon” you hear yoonbin laugh as he reads that his friend jihoon ranked #1 with a total of 6 shots.

“i think he stole everyone since literally after him and 2 other people including you got at least 1 shot” he observes. you nod your head in agreement.

“y/n! there you are!” you hear your roommate yell out from the crowd.

“is that your boyfriend?” you almost could hear the disappointment from yoonbin’s voice. you quickly shook your head rapidly.

“god, ew. no! he’s my roommate” you exclaimed. “y/n~~ oH, yoonbin! my man what’s up?!” keita greets yoonbin with a bro hug. “kEITA!!” yoonbin returns the bro hug.

“you two know each other?” you stood awkwardly between the two boys. “yeah. he’s my classmate in music class” yoonbin explains. you nod your head in approval.

“we should get going now. it’s gonna be late” keita reminds you. “oh shit. i still have a test to study for. yeah let’s go” you tell him.

you rushed to get your bag and other things from the baggage counter till a hand stops you. “hmm?” you look up to meet the eyes of yoonbin.

“i know this is sudden but, c-can i have your number..?” he stutters. you blushed again and nodded, giving him your phone number.

“i’ll see you around?” he hoped. you laughed, “i think we’d be seeing each other often soon” you winked before walking away from ‘cupid’s game’ with keita.

“so, what was that girlie?” keita asks you on the escalator. “nothing” you smile at him. keita gave you a cheeky wink, before laughing out loud. you felt a buzz in your pocket. you grabbed your phone and saw a notification.

Jisu: has 6 flares but uses them to creat forest fries instead of finding enemies😤

Jaeyun: breaks the slurp truck even tho his whole team isn’t there yet

J.you: Gets a golden tactical shot gun,, proceeds to big talk then immediately gets downed two mins after finding it

Kyungho: lands at authority (one of the boss places) doesn’t disguise themselves and proceeds to yolo the boss then gets downed and wonders “why?”

Jerome: the final surviver of their team and waits in a bush till there’s at least 4 (read 1) people left

Woonggi: uses the boat as a weapon to either use it to take builders down or to kill people cuz is afraid to die
