“Would you say you’re easy to get along/work with? Why or why not?”

The question hooked Lace’s grin into the corner of his cheeks, “Did Dr. McAvoy put you up to this?” he was stalling; preparing. Calculating was ever the language of a Sinclair and within seconds a false charm walled before Lace, “Yes and no I suppose. If you are my patient I’m right as rain, easier—they are the ones that deserve the best from me. Tolerance is key...now for coworkers.” that grin twisted now, “You get what you deserve with me. My father always said, Prepare the child for the path, not the path for a child. I believe demanding excellence from others only brings out that excellence in you.” Letting the air settled, Lace squeezed in his last two cents, “Though if Dr. McAvoy didn’t put you up to this, my less political response would be no, I’m mostly a dick.” 

“What’s your family like? Are you still close, or have you blocked all their numbers?”

“My family?” his voice defaulted to a stiff, rehearsed tone. “What an original and riveting question, one that couldn’t be discovered from a google search or news articles.” You could tell Lace was annoyed by the subject change, almost like a chip in his facade the young man aimed to mend it. “My family is close in the way that blood is thicker than anything and everything. The way cancer is a mutation and is so ingrained into your DNA. I could block their numbers, the account numbers, their assistants' numbers, their drivers numbers…I could block them on instagram or tik tok, I could block them from emailing me, faxing me, or mailing me—then move to Antarctica but don’t worry, they’d still find a way to contact me kind-of-close. My immediate family are festering clumps of cells formed and fused to the only health and viable body left in our lineage; their kids."

“If you could recommend one hidden gem around town everyone should try, what is it? What makes it so special?”

“Firstly, this place is part of my date location roster so I’d appreciate it if you kept this information rather discreet.” offering a caveat before continuing, “I think EVERYONE should experience this place but I’m greedy. However there is a trail in the northern part of Belmont Park called Sky Pond. Most of the year it’s either muddy or often moose territory, but a few fleeting weekends in early spring it’s littered with wildflowers. I’m talking about a sea of lupine and phlox.” Just recanting the memory brought a glow to Lace, “Aside from it being breath taking, it’s secluded but a pretty technical ascent. So the pay off is worth it and always leads to a second date or a romp, so it’s a winner to me. Though deeper than that, I use to spend summers around that mountain range as a kid hunting with my dad. I know that place like the back of my hand.”
