Sabo laughed and sat himself down on the bench. “Yeah, yeah. My decision. Don’t worry~ I can handle whatever comes at me,” he mused happily. He looked around as he waited, looking at all that was there. It didn’t matter if it was just a chair or something, he explored all he could with his eyes. “I’m sure you cook lovely. I’m not really a picky either anyways so,” he told her with a soft chuckle.

Her smile got brighter, as she gestured him to come aboard her boat. She went to the small kitchen and started on making tea, along with some snacks. There were a table with a bench, which was big enough for two and two chairs. “The snack is just something easy. I’m not great in the kitchen. However, my fruit salad is tasty, if I may say so myself.” She started to chop a few fruits. “I would appreciate your company. Though if you get into trouble because of it… Well, it’s your decision.” She wasn’t going to tell him what to do or not.

Sabo looked off into space as he thought up some questions he could ask. He brought a hand up to hold his chin as he thought. “Mn... not too sure. Anything really,” he said. He thought to himself again before asking, “ah... how about... what you all like to do together? Maybe.”

Sabo nodded and grinned slightly, “hiding how I feel is more difficult now. Since little flames would flare up when I’m not paying to much attention to it. My mind being somewhere else.” He stared down for a moment before looking back up to the other again, “may I… know more about you? I think it’d be nice. I would like to hear about Ace’s other friends too.”

Sabo chuckled and shook his head. “Well, you could help, but I rather you not. Koala finally snapped and sent me to sort these things. If she finds out I had someone help, I may soon lose my hearing,” he joked.

“How is training going for you? You think you can spar with me yet,” he hummed in amusement. He then shrugged and waved his hand as he teased, “ahh nah. You probably have a long way to go. I’m way to strong for you.”

Sabo looked over to where he heard his name coming from. “Ah, Rose. You seem out of breath. What were you up to,” he said, looking at how she was. He then looked to what he was doing and hummed, “I was just sorting some things.”

He laughed softly before looking back up at her, “did it look like I was looking for something?”

“Sorry,” she gasped, “I was just doing some training, I’m trying to get stronger.” she explained, brushing the hair out of her face as she tried to catch her breath. 

“Oh, were you? It did look like you needed something. What are you up to anyway? Is there anything I can help with?”

Sabo looked over to where he heard his name coming from. “Ah, Rose. You seem out of breath. What were you up to,” he said, looking at how she was. He then looked to what he was doing and hummed, “I was just sorting some things.”

He laughed softly before looking back up at her, “did it look like I was looking for something?”

It had been a few weeks since Rose had joined the revolutionary army and made her way to Baltigo. She trained hard, but the training was even harder than she thought it’d be; sometimes she wondered if she’d really be any help at all. She never regretted joining, she never looked back, but she still felt wary of how intense it really was. 

She stopped in her tracks, seeing Sabo in the distance. Soon she moved closer, curious as to what he needed. 

“Hm? Sabo, is there something you need?” Rose asked, still slightly out of breath.

“Ah- I would love to! I’ll join you to wander too,” Sabo nodded happily. He looked back at the boat and smiled, “it’s about the size of mine~” Looking back to her, he grinned again cheerfully. “Koala may get mad at me for lingering, but whatever,” he said with a laugh. “She’ll forgive me eventually.”

“Mn… That is because you are not a thing,” Sabo told her. He smiled and took her hand. “I’ll give you this one actually. I have another on my little ship and I can always get more back at base. We can talk a little longer for now,” he said as he placed the den den mushi into her hand. It was one of the smaller ones that could fit into a pocket. He grinned and laughed, “It looks like me too, so now you’ll always remember me when you use it.” Then, he stretched out his arms and let out a breath, “I finished my job here, so we can go wander around, if you want, until someone maybe notices me and starts chasing.”

“Mn... That is because you are not a thing,” Sabo told her. He smiled and took her hand. “I’ll give you this one actually. I have another on my little ship and I can always get more back at base. We can talk a little longer for now,” he said as he placed the den den mushi into her hand. It was one of the smaller ones that could fit into a pocket. He grinned and laughed, “It looks like me too, so now you’ll always remember me when you use it.” Then, he stretched out his arms and let out a breath, “I finished my job here, so we can go wander around, if you want, until someone maybe notices me and starts chasing.”

“Eh- ah... It’s a struggle sometimes. It’s really nice and fun though... Until I accidentally blow up something,” Sabo laughed awkwardly as he brushed some of his bangs behind his ear. “Sometimes the top of my head catches on fire, or sometimes my whole head,” he said, trying to think of other times he messed up on controlling his new power.

Sabo nodded slightly before looking off to the side for a bit. He the gulped and turned to look back at the other. His mouth opened to speak, but closed with nothing said. He rubbed the back of his neck before trying again, “… b-but- um… You probably known him better than I, in a way of time, but… I’m sure that he won’t want to see you like this- It is hard… but, he probably would hate seeing his friend like this, so…”

Sabo thought for a bit before replying. He wondered if he should tell this girl he just met where he was off to. “Ah... mn... home,” he said eventually as an answer. Then, he quickly asked her a question, “you? Were you headed anywhere before you came across me?”

“Ah, no,” Sabo quickly answered her. “If you’re happy with helping, then I don’t mind. I would probably try and help you if it was you carrying them originally so… I kind of do not have a say now that I think of it,” he laughed. He looked to the girl, then to where he was going, “I’m getting these to my ship. Supplies for the trip back, they are.”

Sabo watcher her quietly for a bit, wondering about the sudden change in mood. He hummed in reply before looking to the side. She didn’t seem to like the topic of the things used for connection, so he didn’t want to pry. They only met recently after all. He soon turned back to her and smiled, “that so? Well... I’m a reason!” Shuffling through his pockets, he took out his little den den mushi and held it to her, “if we part ways, I want to be able to call you. If you don’t have one, it’d be really hard to find you again... So... I’ll get you one!”

His smile was nice and warming her. It reminded her of two other people, who now would be young men. Her eyes dropped a little, and she shifted, when he asked for her vivre card. “There have never been a reason for me to get a Den Den Mushi.” She avoided the question about the vivre card, a dark memory surfacing, which she quickly pushed down again.

Sabo gave her a nod with his continuous smile. “Yeah. You’re new home. You’ll meet a lot of new people too! It may be a big change from how you live now, but everyone is kind and welcoming, so I’m sure you will get used to things quick,” he told her. Even thought he was still in this place he hated, all seemed better after talking to her, not to mention that he got himself a new friend.

Sabo smiled at her answer and laughed softly, “that was a quick answer.” He then looked off to where they were headed and took a breath. “Then,” he started again as he turned to her. “I will be the first to welcome you. Miss Rose… I welcome you to the Revolutionary Army,” he told her with a smile and a decent bow.

“Yes well… I feel like it’s the right decision.” Rose smiled, looking up at the blond. She knew it was where she needed to be if she wanted to be free and if she wanted to change the world to be a better place. “Thank you, Sabo. I’ll do anything I can to help.”

“Where are we headed now? Home?”

Sabo looked off to the ceiling to think. He hummed as he tried to remember to answer. “Around the age of ten, most likely,” he eventually said. He smiled and looked down. “I wish I had more time with him,” he mumbled quietly.

“Eh? Oh, no,” Sabo answered. “I actually ran away from mine and just met him in that dump. He was the only other kid and he seemed lonely in a way, so I decided to talk to him. Mn… He didn’t seem happy, but I kept finding him until we got along,” he laughed.

Sabo laughed happily after hearing her answer. “Wah- I feel special with you saying that! I’ll be your first and best friend then,” he told her joyfully. He then looked off somewhere as he leaned his head to the side, “mn... oh- Do you have one? A vivre card. Or a den den mushi?”

“Hm… then… Why don’t I be your first friend,” Sabo grinned with a soft chuckle. “In this short time, I had fun talking to you so… You seem like a fun person. Kind too,” he then added as he leaned down a bit to try and see her face. “I would be saddened already if I heard that you were gone too.”

“Ah, right. I am part of the revolutionary army,” Sabo asked with a soft hum. “That is why I asked you if you like helping people and such. Since… that is what I do. I was wondering if you would like to become a part of this,” he smiled as he said his invitation.

“The revolutionary army?” Rose questioned with a gasp. She had heard of them before, but didn’t know much about them. If they were people that felt the same way as she did about the world, then she had to go. “Y-yes, please take me with you. I will join the revolutionary army!”
