#gradschooljourney #mastersjourney
It’s week 10 of my first semester as a full time student. I feel burnt out (which may just be from the fact that I spent 12 hours straight in uni) and when i am burnt out I tend to have existential and discouraged thoughts and worries.
one good thing that has kind of sparked some hope, let in some light in the tunnel is that for the first time in 1 year and a half of being in the program, that a lecturer has given proper feedback and comments on my writing that is actually actionable. maybe it’s due to the small size of our class but still.
praying that this time and energy put into improving my writing/communication basically pays off for ministry.
I think I just need some good sleep, and reading my Bible, and ministering to myself

4 feet became 6, and 6 became 8
“So what you do during MCO?”
kindred brethren - connected by the white in their hair? or the age in their hearts
.
White pants, hair pulled back in a ponytail, shiny glasses - she emerged from the metal detectors and made eye contact. it was her. It’s a strange feeling, hard to capture. the feeling of seeing someone you’ve not seen for almost 4 years. what has changed? What hasn’t? a strange barrier and a strange tie. room for shaping, room for building. don’t kill with assumptions.

Love love love the details in this film
March sisters + hand-me-down dresses
An interesting costuming decision in the 1994 adaptation of Little Women was having the younger March sisters wear the elder sisters’ old dresses. At the Christmas party after her recovery from scarlet fever, Beth wears Jo’s red dress which she wore to the Gardiners’ New Years’ party a year prior. Years later, teenage Amy is seen wearing Meg’s old blue dress which she wore to Sallie Moffat’s coming out party. Considering that the Marches lived in genteel poverty, it was unlikely that they could afford new clothes for all four children, so it would make sense that the younger sisters wore hand-me-downs. The choices also reflect the sisters’ bond: Beth is closer to Jo, while Amy is closer to Meg.

My Girl (1991)
“I was born jaundiced. Once I sat on a toilet seat at a truck stop and caught hemorrhoids. And I’ve learned to live with this chicken bone that’s been lodged in my throat for the past three years. So, I knew Dad would be devastated when he learned of my latest affliction.”

• Tribute to Malls • - I’ve thrown malls a lot of shade in the past but today I’ve changed my mind. Malls are good for health! 1) Pretty things and buying things is somehow good for mental health. 2) Walking is good for physical health. So yay for malls! Also has anyone realised how malls could be kinda like a modern Shire. Except instead of tiny hobbit homes you have little shops, and the food court is equivalent to a grand birthday party held by Bilbo. If everyone said hello to each other in the mall it’d resemble such a cute village. https://www.instagram.com/p/CWgBA9zPSBPid3hBryCK-gRc0nXtkpbXTnrmoY0/?utm_medium=tumblr

When fun was the calculator you saved 20 sen a day for a month to buy.
When going to the library during recess meant books PLUS saving money.
When breakfast was your late dad making a big bowl of overboiled noodles at 6 in the morning to last you to lunch.

Dear soul,
Take heart because
God doesn’t judge you by the standards you judge yourself
He has better standards
And He’s growing you to it
For His glory

Give me an undivided heart
That I might fear Your name
Teach me to walk in righteous paths
And follow in Your ways
For You are gracious and forgiving
Hear, O Lord, and answer me
Give me an undivided mind
That I might love Your word
Help me to hunger for Your voice
And know Your spirits sword
For You are good, Your truth unchanging
Life is found in serving You
Undivided
I want to live for You
Single minded
All that I say, all that I do
Sanctify me
Take me and make me new
That I might live for Christ, my Lord
Give me an undivided love
For all that You desire
Make me a living sacrifice
Ignite in me your fire
For you O Lord are God eternal
All my ways are known to You
Undivided
I want to live for You
Single minded
All that I say, all that I do
Sanctify me
Take me and make me new
That I might live for Christ, my Lord
Undivided
Counting my gains as loss
Single minded
Whatever the pain, whatever the cost
Sanctify me
Help me take up my cross
And live for Him who died for me
