My random tkatb theories that pop up in my head at 3am

PART ONE

So when we first first meet Sol in class and ask him for his name and then MC complicated him, saying that it's a beautiful name BUT then, he said something like "Thank you, my mother gave me that name" with a smile with makes me start thinking about his relationship with his parents.

Of what vibes he gives off and based on his Spotify playlist I think he didn't had a good relationship with his dad and that's why when MC complicated his name instead of brushing his mother off, he mentioned her.

Or I might just be delulu and it's just something random to keep the conversation between him and MC longer

Sorry for not being active but I've been busy with taking care of myself recently.

One little thing, don't take everything in the old tumblr asks and post (2023-early 2024) of mine to heart, some of them are old information that I probably scrapped in the main plot.

I either: 1.) Forgot about it and never took note of it. 2.) Seeing how it's not that important to the main plot and decided to change a few things and/or get rid of them.

But the most reason why I forgot about it is because it's not important.

You guys just have to wait for the entire game to be out to know which ones are canon.

[ FINAL ANNOUNCEMENT BEFORE LONG-TERM HIATUS ]

Hello Everyone!

This isn't really a final FINAL announcement but an announcement regardless. 

First of all, I would like to thank everyone for sticking around for "The Kid at the Back" since first release up until now. I am still currently in hiatus, juggling both boothing, travelling and working on the game. For now, I'll just be answering some general questions here.

Are you a game company/team/group?

As I have stated in my IP Guidelines and multiple times throughout my journey,  "The Kid at the Back" is made by ONE PERSON. I am not a company, I am not a team studio, I am simply a one-man dev, and I do all of the coding, the writing with the help of some friends, and most especially the art.

Second, I only made this Visual Novel for FUN. It is a passion project, and I don't have a proper schedule for working on it since I have other real-life jobs to do. I travel most of the time, and I do artist booths within my country, so my time is minimal. This means I only work on the game during my free time.

Are you accepting help with your game development?

Third, as much as I appreciate people willing to help me, I would rather have full control of my game, this is MY project and MY journey on game development so having people into the mix will crush my workflow.

Are you accepting collaborations?

The only official collaboration I have as of May 15, 2025 is with Plush Wonderland. Other than that, I don't accept collaborations at this moment.

Is the game complete/finished?

People keep mistaking my game to be finished when it is NOT.

it is still in progress and it is a very very SLOW progress, I have multiple lines to redo, re-code, and re-write and correct along with writing the last remaining days. doing new sprites and CG art.

When is the next update?/When will you release Day 3?

This question has been answered ages ago but I will be stating it here once and for all so that I don't have to keep repeating myself. 

No, I won't be updating the DEMO anymore.

VERSION 2.3.3 will be the LAST demo update, slight grammatical errors and everything because I will be focusing on developing and fleshing out my game's dialogue and writing rather than thinking back on the demo and its errors, forcing me to not make any progress and staying stagnant which I do not want.

The next big "update" will be the full game itself.

I will occasionally post in my patreon about my progress but once again, it will be slow and I will only post if I feel like sharing do please don't expect a lot, I won't be increasing the slots for soulmates either. 

Anything I post in twitter will just be regular announcements, as of May 17, 2025, "The Kid at the Back" is collaborating with Plush Wonderland on the new collaborative work on 20cm dolls, I don't handle the doll's development and shipping, etc, it's all on Plush Wonderland, I only do checking and approving on merchandise to be sold by Plush, so if you have any questions about the doll, please ask Plush Wonderland directly.

My Sol headcanons <3

Part 2 since my first part did well

MC IS GENDER NEUTRAL!!

Just imagine if MC is gonna teach him sleep patterns to help him sleep after they found out he's struggling with sleeping at night🥹

I bet Sol would wake up like 2 hours earlier just to cook MC their favourite food PERFECTLY (just like them)

If MC would save him from the bullies in a violent way, he should both be scared and fascinated

If MC has the same music taste as him, both would share an headphone while reading love poems under a tree <3

Would 100℅ skip school if MC didn't felt well or just if they didn't feel like it

This is random but I bet he's already thinking what wedding ring would look the best of you <3

I know I didn't write as much as last time but I'm running out of ideas. Maybe a theory post soon?

So I was checking out my first headcanon post and it did pretty, first tysm for all the support, it means the world to me and I'm very grateful for everything! <3

Now second, I decided to replay the game again since I got kinda bored and haven't played it in a while. And this time I payed close attention to the library scene, and them BOOM a stupid theory came in mind, so be ready to hear my delusions 😇

After the bullies left the two alone, MC suggested Sol to go to the nurse's office to get his wounds treated, but Sol disagreed, focusing on MC first, he wanted to cup their cheek but he stopped midway – WHICH BRINGS ME TO MY OLD POST WERE I MENTION THAT SOL WANTED MC TO DEVELOP THEIR FEELINGS NATURALLY, and that's why he stopped, cause he didn't want the moment to turn more awkward or just to make them uncomfortable, which wouldn't help at ALL. And in the Arcade scene, IMO, when he ran up to MC to check them, that moment, he felt helpless, he didn't wanna make them uncomfortable, ESPECIALLY after what happened with that perv, but he felt overwhelmed or just stressed and started crying, and when they comforted them, he didn't care at that point and seeked the warmth and attention from them.

at first It was kinda confusing but when I started connecting the dots and I startee learning more about the lore, I understood everything so I recommend playing a bit and then "study" the lore

Heyaaa! So as promised, here are some of my Sol headcanons <3

(Like I mention in my last post, I apologize for any grammar mistakes, english is my second language 😭)

My Sol headcanons <3

He's def a night owl, he'll sometimes get a little too excited to see MC the following day or just too stressed to sleep even with the pills Hyugo handed him.

He despises dark romance, Sol just finds the whole plots disgusting most of the time.

Sol believes that love should be earned by both people instead of just one of them which will lead to an unhealthy relationship, that's one reason he's trying not to get too close to MC this fast.

He'll remember remember MC's schedule just to "accidently" meet and hang out together if MC agrees.

He’ll do things like bring you food “because he noticed you skipped lunch,” or “walk you home to make sure you're safe.” Sweet, right? But over time, it becomes routine for both of them.

I bet he hates your friends,even good ones cause they'll make you neither "forget about him" or "they'll take to much time".

He replays the conversation he ever had with MC, word by word, and thinks about better things he could say but never thought off.

If you ever distance yourself away from him, even a bit, he'll start trying to apologize even though he did nothing wrong and shower you with love poems and unlimited affection.

There’s a part of him that finds peace in watching you sleep. He would never cross the line and do it openly—no, he’s much more patient than that. He’d just "happen" to walk by your room when you’ve fallen asleep, standing next to your bed, staring at the shadows of your form through the cracks. He tells himself it’s normal. (Somehow–)

He writes you letters—tons of them. But they're never meant to be read. Sol writes about his thoughts, feelings, and plans for the future with you, but he never gives them to you. They’re hidden away, in a box you’ll never find unless you search very, very deep in his room. They're his way of staying connected to you, without ever letting you know.

If someone shows too much interest in you, you’ll notice that they "accidentally" trip, have an accident, or seem a little more distracted than usual. Sol is the kind of yandere who can make things seem like coincidences, but they always happen when certain people get too close to you.

I got inspired to write most of them by actions that actually happen in the like when MC accidentally saw Sol being treated like shit by the bullies in the library or he walks you home to "keep you safe". I hope y'all enjoyed this post <3
