i was in the grocery store and saw an onion on the ground and picked it up, absently saying “poor little guy.” behind me a teenage girl started laughing and then stopped and went “aww. i’m sorry for laughing. that’s nice actually.” and the cycle of cruelty is broken for another generation as a young person realizes that it is not embarrassing to have empathy for another thing that was once living, because certainly to be a lone white onion rolling on the ground in a supermarket would be terrifying to anyone

in light of police across the country cracking down on pro palestine protests with brutal force, it feels like a great time to remind everyone to shut the fuck up around cops. don't make small talk, dont act friendly, don't fucking engage with them!! if you are arrested DO NOT speak without a lawyer present. protest organizers, get into contact with local pro bono lawyers who can be there for your arrested comrades. no matter what, if cops are there, shut the fuck up unless you are actively doing a protest chant. dont tell cops why you were there, dont tell them if you're affiliated with the school you may be protesting at, dont tell them if you came there with anyone, dont tell them anything!!!

I love animals that are, like, the opposite of cryptids: we know for a fact they exist and have a clear idea of what they look like because we have photographs and individual specimens, but we haven’t the faintest idea where they’re coming from - they just keep showing up out of nowhere, and the locations of their actual population centres are a complete mystery.

Something I do really love about The Tumblr Experience™️ is that you get everything. The whole blog, in order, not by popularity or (usually) tailored to fit an audience.
I followed this person for one thing, but this is a really gorgeous picture of a bird. A gifset of a movie I never would have seen. A poem about brothers or frogs or ribbon or love.
It's odd but it's meditative, almost. I think it's part of why mutuals, especially ones we don't really talk to, are such a specific phenomenon. I've never spoken to you, you stopped talking about the thing I followed you for forever ago, I don't even remember what it was, but I like seeing you there, still reblogging gifsets of 1990s cult classics and parasocially blogging about Bob Dylan.

Heartbreaking: This person is making great points but they're being a huge fucking asshole about it so you can't reblog any of it

the side effect of who I am as a person is that no less than 2/3 of the videos I watch on YouTube have the little "Context" boxes underneath them

the thing nobody fucking warns you about is that once you know literally anything about sewing or how clothes are constructed it immediately becomes impossible to buy clothes because 90+% of newly produced clothes that you can actually look at in a physical store are just hot fucking garbage. like what is even the point of buying something made of thin polyester blend with a shit ton of exposed lazily serged seams on the inside and weirdly large armscyes? its completely unrepairable and also not worth repairing because it’s designed to be disposable and half its flaws are unfixable without essentially re-sewing the garment from scratch and the other half are a ticking time bomb where no structural element is expected to last past the first failure. no fucking wonder nobody bothers learning to sew buttons or darn in this day and age!! theres no damn point because the rest of the garment is totally fucked by the time it becomes needed! *i am gently escorted out of the department store, frothing at the mouth*
but you watch enough historical costuming videos and its just like. “+1 skill acquired: making your own clothes! good luck, you’ll definitely be using it from now on :)”
