Franklin’s Big Night [March 7, 2019]
IN PROGRESS RPS
Lyra flits between the crowds of people, keeping a firm grip of Franklin's hand so that she did not lose him in the crowds, as much as she was sure he wanted to be lost enough so that he could Leave, before giving a quick hello to Suzume and some of the friends she loosely recognized, before finding what she was looking for, the balcony, only to find it was unfortunately...occupied, she recognizes, seeing the man and woman out there, but figuring it was the most quiet place she'd likely find in this place to give Franklin a breather after the initial immersion before turning her ocean blue eyes to meet Franklin's. "How are you feeling?" She asks, wanting to gather his initial thoughts before proceeding any more with the night, before she holds up a bottle of a mysterious blue liquor she had managed to snag off of the table. "Have some with me?" She offers, pushing up the sleeves of her oversized jacket to open the bottle.
Franklin nimbly ducks, weaves and moves through the overtly sauced...heathens was the only apt word to come to mind as he watches the countless acts of natural selection take place around him, feeling his phone continue to buzz seemingly endlessly as he lets out a breath once they finally make it somewhere...somewhat, private. Electing to allow the couple their space as he keeps the polite distance drawing an imaginary line down the middle of the balcony, leaning over to take in a lungful of the cool air, his gaze falling over the city line, "I could be better, that's a bonafide fact." He replies back, moving to withdraw his phone, catching the string of texts, having seen sight of her in the party, though thanking the stars above she hadn't seemed to have done the same, that fact not stopping her from inviting him out, employing a number of questionable, downright hostile tactics in order to do so. "...What even Is That?" He counters back, his eyes widening at the prospect of her offer, thinking it could damn near be anything given the wild jungle they had just trekked through.
"I know," Lyra acknowledges, knowing that it wasn't Franklin's scene and catching his aura, before continuing on, "and we can go soon, it's just...I had a feeling, when I saw the invite from Suzume, that there was some Reason to come here tonight, with you..." She describes, finding it hard to pinpoint exactly What the feeling had been, but having felt it all the same. "But still, we can go to a quieter place, maybe...you can even teach me how to play pool?" She offers, giving Franklin a small smile as she thinks on the place he had mentioned going before to get away, before looking at the liquor. "I actually...don't know," Lyra admits, softly, with a slight playfulness in her tone, holding the bottle up to the moonlight as she tries to figure out exactly what language the label was written in. "It's pretty, though...maybe it's why we were meant to come here, to...try this? Or at least to get an avant garde apartment decoration," she offers with a smile, handing it over to Franklin so he could look at it more closely.
Gwen makes her way through the throngs of people, giving her friends one last quick hip bump and drawing her boo into a final kiss before figuring out just Where Oh Where Franklin and Lyra were, pretty sure they'd Have to come given her Ways of Persuasion, scanning for her old friends in the crowd as she takes another sip of this...surprisingly good jungle juice? figuring she'd have to ask whoever's party it was for the recipe...whoever that was, having gotten and invite from someone who had gotten the invite from someone...you know how the story goes, Gwen figures with a small shrug to herself, before her eyes widen as a grin spreads across her lips once she sees the flash of Blue hair on the balc. "Guessssss whoooooooo!" She announces, spreading her arms out wide as she draws her two friends into a tight ass hug, before looking at Franklin, teasingly pinching his cheek as she gives him a wink. "You taking good care of my Daughter, Sir Frank?" She asks him, giving a quick glance at Lyra, who was older than her, but that was the humor of it, a teasing smile forming on her lips. "If you Aren't, you know I'm gonna have to kick your ass..."
Franklin lets out a deep sigh once he's able to...breathe again, his earlier thoughts on the moment interrupted and disconnected by the abrupt explosion from Gwen. "...Why is that always your First Resort?" He genuinely questions, giving a slight shake of his head, "Ask her yourself."
“Kick ass first, ask questions later,” Gwen matter of factly states, giving a quick shrug, before turning her attention to Lyra. “I know Frank is no Me, obv, buttttt...” she lightly and playfully begins, before her tone becomes a bit more serious. “Has everything been okay?”
Lyra gives a soft nod as she looks at Gwen, everything having thankfully gone well, thus far, with the other man that she and Franklin had been rooming with, before casting her gaze out towards the city, and everything below it, closing her eyes as she feels the night air dance past her, a thought moving within her, before recalling who Gwen was With, unsure if she'd want to Leave, but looking at her two friends, anyway. "Want to leave and just...see where the night takes us?" She offers, looking up at both of them as she scratches the arm of her oversized sweater a bit, feeling a desire for a more peaceful moment with just her two friends as the chaos of the party continues to echo around them.
The leftmost corner of Franklin's lips gently fold upward as he hears the softly spoken idea swirled within the air, regally bending his arm as he moves beside Lyra, offering it out to her, "Lead the way."
Gwen hears Lyra’s words, just kind of happy that Lyra was feeling Good, before feeling like she should go back and find Erin and that strange little cousin of hers they had taken out for the night. “I gotta get back to E, but I Thee knight, Lord Franklin of the Turtle, to escort Lady Lyra to Wherever she chooses,” Gwen animatedly and regally remarks making a faux sword with her arm as she makes the knighting motion on both of his shoulders, before giving Lyra a quick shoulder bump and giving them a two fingered salute. “Take pics, you twoooooo!” She remarks, walking backwards as she waves bye to her friends, heading back into the party to find Erin and that weird cousin.
- GWEN PART CONTINUED IN WHERE IS KSEN? -
A small smile peeks onto Lyra's lips as she watches Franklin regally bend his arm and offer it out to her, gently taking it, before hearing Gwen's words, a small swirl of disappointment moving through her that she pushes down. "Okay," she acknowledges, watching as Gwen leaves, before looking back to Franklin, giving a small smile and a nod as they set out from the crowded, chaotic place, onto the streets of the city, just content to walk with Franklin, beside him, as the night breeze courses over them and the stars dance above them, it not really mattering Where they were going in the moment, until, as they're walking, she hears a small, soft mew, the thought causing her to look around, until she sees where the sound was coming from, a kitten trapped in a gutter on the street, a swirl of worry moving through her as she looks down at it, kneeling down suddenly as she hears the little thing's desperate cries that it seemed no one else had heard. "Is there a way to help it?" Lyra asks Franklin, a concern swirling through her eyes.
Franklin gives a final wave goodbye to Gwen, leaving her to her relentless debauched ways, taking a deep inhale as he relaxes a bit further, just enjoying the jaunt, as it was. The sudden jerky stop, drawing him to pause taking in the swift turn of events as he joins Lyra, not exactly wanting to ruin his pants, even as he tries to glean what was happening, "I-Uh...What do we Do?" He asks, a bit flustered at the situation at hand, as he hears the forlorn cries down below, patting his hand onto his pants to draw his cell out and turning the flashlight to see if perhaps Lyra could catch sight of it.
Lyra looks up at Franklin, a subtle worry moving through her features. “I ...I don’t know,” she lowly mutters out, her brows knitting, feeling like there might not be anything she Could Do, the thought cutting in to her, before looking up at Franklin after seeing the small thing, wondering... “Do you think it’s small enough I could pull him out if I was careful?” She asks, feeling like her arms would be small enough to reach through the gutter, and just maybe...
Franklin lets out a silent sigh as he resigns himself to moving down to the...not even trying to Think of It, as he gets lower for the light to shine further inside the gutter. "If anyone can, you can..." He says back, trying to project confidence so that he could instill it within her, wanting to reassure and bolster her the best he could.
Lyra moves to take off her sweater, handing it to Franklin as she takes a deep breath, moving to reach her hand in, using the light of Franklin's phone to guide her, feeling reassured by his words as she moves to grab the kitten by the scruff, really hoping that was okay, not wanting to hurt it, but feeling that it was kind of an emergency...before finally pulling out the tiny kitten, a reassurance moving through her as she looks down it, a soft, gentle smile warming her features as the kitten meows at her in thanks, before it drops a bit as she realizes how dirty the poor thing is. "It could really use a bath..." Lyra muses, looking down at it, before looking up at Franklin. "Mat isn't home, is he?" She asks, hoping that he wouldn't be taking up the bathroom with one of his Nighttime Shower Song Sessions.
Franklin drapes Lyra's sweater over his shoulder as he tries to accommodate the situation to the best of his ability, a rush of relief moving over him as he sees the kitten in her arms. "Think he's still at work...?" Franklin trails off, turning to glance at his watch to corroborate, "That was amazing, glad to be a part of history..." He outwardly muses a bit as he moves to stand, looking over at Lyra in her heroic after-glow.
"I hope so," she replies, holding the kitten tight as she looks down at it, wanting to be able to take care of it while Mat was busy, before a soft smile begins to cross her face as the kitten begins purring, before she looks up at Franklin, a warm, genuine smile peeking through onto her lips. "Thank you for helping me, you were amazing, too..." She muses back to him. "Want to go back to the apartment and get this little guy washed off?" She asks, before grimacing a bit at how dirty she felt from reaching into the sewer, even though that was a secondary concern to the kitten getting clean.
