Bad Blood
Jezebel Arlin Member Female Human Nomad Status: Offline Age: 28 Posts: 221 Bad Blood // Emma [SWP/PG-15] Posted: 04 Jun, 2013 - 01:52:31 To say that it was a bad day for Jez Arlin would be an understatement. Number one, she had dozen off during one of her lectures at university that morning. She seemed to be doing a lot of that recently. It was peak season for bar goers, apparently, and peak seasons meant late nights and if she was lucky, she was able to reach her apartment at 2 in the morning after a busy shift at The Hole, the bar in Seattle she works at. Other nights, it could get as bad as 5 in the morning. Thank goodness Joe had made the decision to hire a new person to share the same shift as her. At first, Jez was less than pleased at this sudden news; she preferred to work alone. But she turned out to quite like Evey a lot. Besides, it was always nice to have someone to share the burden with. Heavens knew how much worse things could get without Evey's help around. Jez's acquiring a new friend was definitely one of the more interesting things to have happened to her lately but it still couldn't really help to improve her horrid day. She had slept through half of her lecture before her lecturer chose to humiliate her openly in front of the whole hall. Jez's face was as red as the top she chose to wear to uni that day when she jolted awake with a start to snigger and giggles from her coursemates. She had to bear the weight of the humiliation the whole day in uni, since Jez wasn't the kind to forget things like these easily. Number two, her car broke down just as she was heading out of university grounds. Jez was particularly mad and sad at the same time about this, since her Benz -which was only three years old- had never broken down before. Her Benz was one of the things she treasured the most- mostly because she could never go anywhere without her car, obviously. A string of curses trailed out of her mouth as she failed to start the engine of her car. Thankfully, someone from the university was kind of enough to help her push her car to the side of a curb to prevent from holding up traffic. She couldn't help but make a rude gesture at the thick-skulled drivers piled up behind her spoiled car who were rude enough to honk at her. It wasn't her fault, for god's sake. Let's put you in the same position and see how you deal with it, idiots. In the end, she could only call a towing truck service to tow her car to a nearby repair shop and walk home herself since she would never rely on anyone else to give her a lift home. Number three, it started raining about ten minutes after she started her journey back home. Jez quickly yanked out her earphones which were blasting Bastille's new record so as not to get them wet and subsequently, ruined. It wasn't exactly far from Seattle University to her apartment, but it was a good forty-five minute walk; thirty minutes if she was lucky. However, for some reason, it felt so much longer that day. Perhaps it was the rain. Perhaps it was the fact that her day wasn't going well at all. Jez was soaking wet from head to toe by the time she turned into a dark alley, a shortcut she had recently learned about during one of her drunk nights. Of course, it was always unnerving to walk in a dark, secluded alley way, any human being with a reasonable mind would know that, but Jez honestly wasn't in the mood to take the long way round through the city centre which would probably cost her another half an hour. All she wanted was to get home as quickly as possible and destress herself with a lovely bath. Her instincts were focused on getting herself home quickly, not safely. As it was, reason number four was quickly heading her way, but Jez didn't know it yet. It was only when a strange, eerie feeling crept up her spine that she figured something might be wrong. She stopped and scanned her surroundings- and her heart dropped when she saw a dark silhouette standing a few feet behind her. Her heart drummed against her ribcage, and cold sweat started to bead on her forehead. Jez's first instinct was to run, to get away from this place, but for some reason, her legs were immobile. Fear and adrenaline rooted her to the spot. She cursed herself mentally for being so careless and rash but it was not the time for a self-lecture. "H..hello?" Her voice cracked as she croaked out the two syllable greeting that was most commonly used in the world. She couldn't deny that this sounded like the beginning of a horror movie, and for all she knew, it was. For the past few months, by the standards of Ernest Hyde, Emma wasn't exactly what you would call a "good girl". In fact, she was far from it, not only having run away from the Hydes, but also violating the terms of her agreement with Ernest. Then again, it wasn't like she didn't have her reasons; she had never been one for the carnivore diet, and she had tried to protect her newborns, whom she had brought into the coven, and failed miserably. When she had first made her pact with Ernest Hyde, she had three newborns: Luke Petrelli, Damien West, and Tanner Followill. Of the three, Luke and Damien manifested abilities, both of which were also promised, along with her own, to the services of Mr. Hyde and his own "family". At the time, Ernest needed loyal vampires that could offer them their abilities; the menacing Voluturi already had so many on their side, a "monopoly", if you will, and Ernest needed every "powered" immortal he could get his cold, dead hands on. Only five years ago, in 2008, Emma had been a Volturi Guard member herself, only to run away from the Volturi after years of imprisonment, and distraction on the part of the Volturi themselves. A distraction, that was, in the form of Luke Petrelli and Damien West, two young men she would have killed in her feeding, had Jane not intervened, causing them both to be turned. Later on, when she had first come to Seattle, she had slipped up and turned Tanner Followill, a young fireman and volunteer who had been walking back home on a cold, lonely, rainy night. Now, however, both Damien and Tanner were gone, along with one of her newer creations, a vampire by the name of Rue Holliway. Distinctly, Emma remembered Rue to be the first female human she had ever turned, and although they had not gotten along well at first, eventually, Emma had been able to reconcile with the younger vampire, helping teach her the "vegetarian" diet and aiding her in her aspirations to blend in to live a more human life. Like Rue, Emma had also been able to help teach one of her other newborns, Greyson Belle, about the vegetarian lifestyle, though ultimately she let her "children" decide for themselves which path - vegetarian and carnivorous - that they wished to take. Sadly, Emma's attempts to teach her newborns the more civilized ways of the vegetarian diet, as well as how to properly hunt and avoid the Volturi, it was not to be. One by one, Damien, Tanner, and Rue seemed to disappear without a trace...and Emma had a horrible, sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach that it may have had to do with the Volturi. For five years now, she had been on the run from the rulers of the vampire world and her former "employers", working for Ernest Hyde and his coven to improve and expand his own coven, in exchange for protection. Yet perhaps she had been a bit too careless; she'd allowed her newborns free rein after about six months' time, monitoring them less and less as they closer neared the end of their "first birthday". Usually her newborns reported back to her, though, and one day, Damien just hadn't shown up...then it was Tanner who vanished, followed by Rue. Though Emma was worried, she knew well enough not to try and find them; it could very well be a trap by the Volturi, trying to bait her into an ambush where they would put an end to her immortal existence. Despite caring very much more, and even coming to love, each of her "children", Emma knew that if they were already dead, that it would do no use to cave in to the Volturi's attempts to bait her out of her hiding and protection. Though she also was a very skilled fighter, thanks to the Volturi's own training, she was no match for the rest of the Guard, and also nursed a very healthy fear of capture and 'death' at their hands. The last thing she was going to do, after eighty years of essential house arrest and probation under their care, was give them - especially Jane - the satisfaction of ripping her to shreds. Thus, even though she was beginning to hate Ernest Hyde, suspecting him of something just as bad, or even worse, than the plans of the Volturi, she saw no choice but to repent, returning to submit to Hyde's wishes. Returning like a dog with its tail tucked between its legs, Emma had returned to Seattle, where Ernest offered her a new, and very generous, deal: he would forgive her of her trespasses, if she turned one newborn for him. Just one...and he would even let her continue with her vegetarian diet, which she had struggled for years to achieve. She, of course, had accepted, with as much grace and nicety as she could muster in the face of a man she was beginning to think she loathed. Carrying an umbrella, Emma wore a long, tan trench coat atop a little black dress, walking along the sidewalk down a Seattle road, her long hair loose and glossy, as she viewed the world through her sunglasses. For most of the day, it had been typically rainy, usual for the Emerald City at this time of year; and walking along in her black, high heels, Emma circled the area once or twice in a few hours, scouting the place for the new victim to become one of Ernest's pawns. Moving at a slow, human pace, Emma found plenty of time to think and plan about how she was going to go about the business...she didn't like it, not at all, but it was something that she had to do. To prepare for this occasion, she had returned to the forests of Washington State, and Olympic National Park, to feed heavily on her diet of deer, bear, and cougar blood...much bitter in taste than human blood, but she was going to need all the animal blood she could get if she was to kill the victim without outright killing him...or her. Watching through half-lidded eyes, heavy with "bedroom eye" makeup, Emma watched, half bemused, as human males of all ages seemed to always turn to look at her, entranced by her lithe, ghosting movements and beautiful features. Normally she had a preference for men, and a male would be more than easy to catch in order to turn...but a person of any gender would do, and she was going to seize the opportunity as soon as one presented itself. After what seemed like an eternity of rumination, Emma came to a stop at one area of the sidewalk along one of Seattle's highways, watching as the rain pattered around her and soaked the pavement. After another hour of waiting, Emma observed as a car seemed to veer off its usual path on the road, pulling over as steam rose from its front. Watching a young, blonde girl get out of the driver's seat and begin to walk, Emma began to move silently after her, though not too conspicuously; she stayed on the opposite side of the road, keeping her gaze ahead as she followed the girl from a distance. Eventually, Emma followed the girl as she ducked into a secluded alleyway, having watched as the girl seemed to be too preoccupied with getting home, and out of the rain, as quickly as possible. This was her chance. Moving at a brisk human walk, Emma tailed the girl as silently as possible...that is, until the girl stopped suddenly in her tracks, whipping around to see Emma, who was at least twenty feet away from her and enveloped in shadows. In the matter of a millisecond, Emma could hear the human's heart go from a healthy, exercise pace to one of panic and terror...one she was not used to, and one that caused her throat to burn with the memory of the taste of wet, sweet, human blood. Soon, Emma could also distinctly the girl's sweat, as her eyes, luminous in the dark and just as attentive as a feline's, watched the beads of sweat begin to form on the girl's brow. The girl's voice cracked out a 'hello', which, for second, distracted Emma from her thirst and on her feeling of uncertainty and uneasiness. What she was about to do was essentially change the course of the girl's existence forever...it was now or never...either let the girl go and let her live out a normal human life...or follow Ernest's orders, and potentially kill her. Yet, with a tremendous feeling of guilt that caused her to loathe what she was about to do next, she resigned to her ultimate decision. Moving in the blink of an eye at a swift, vampire pace, before the girl could react, Emma had moved behind her, wrapping one hand around her mouth, and the other around her waist. "Now, dear, don't scream...I am sorry for this, but I have no choice. This is going to be very painful for you..." Emma whispered lowly, leaning her head closely as her lips hovered against the pale skin of the girl's neck. With a swift motion, she lunged, singing her razor sharp teeth into the girl's skin as though it were wet paper, the sweet, succulent taste of the girl's blood immediately flowing into her mouth. The taste, she had to admit, was nothing short of amazing...much better than the animal blood she was slowly beginning to form a taste for. Yet, at the same time, as she began to take a few gulps, the full feeling of her stomach caused a dull ache in her abdomen. Not used to pain, or a stomachache, it snapped Emma out of her feeding instinct after a second or two, and she lifted her mouth, licking the fresh blood off of her full, rose painted lips. "Sssh...steady dear...that's it..." Emma murmured to her prey as she began to feel the girl's body, though paralyzed in her arms, begin to react to the venom. After several minutes of waiting for the venom to course through the girl's body, keeping one hand over her mouth to silence her screams...and waiting as the girl's past, and her human life, flashed briefly before her eyes...the girl's form finally went limp, Emma gently picked up her yet-fragile form bridal style. So, she made a friend today. Attended school. Worked at her job. Had a life...and now, I've taken all of that away from her, and not even to save her life...God in Heaven, please forgive me. I am a nothing more than a coward. I deserve to truly burn in Hell for what I've done to these poor children...this poor child...the others were accidents...I had not the will...but she...she is nothing but a testament to how much of a traitor I've become. How much I've become like the Volturi, Emma thought, feeling a rush of guilt as she closed her eyes, inhaling, and exhaling, slowly. With a sigh, Emma sprinted, running as fast as she could to avoid detection by humans. Emma carried the girl back to one of the many warehouses the Hydes now occupied by the Seattle pier, carrying the girl's limp form through the back doors, and setting the girl on top of one of the unoccupied sleeping bags on the floor. Picking up the sleeping bag along with the girl, Emma carried the girl's body over to one of the free cots, setting her down with utmost care. After the girl was in place, Emma moved over and grabbed a standard, rusted out fold chair, placing it next to the girl's bedside as she seated herself. Unlike some of the other humans who had been bitten as pr Ernest's orders, she didn't thrash too much, but rather seemed to squirm a lot, rolling to and fro fitfully, as though she were having a bad dream. Reaching forward, Emma leaned down and brushed a stray strand of the girl's long, blonde hair out of the way, as her body soon became matted with sweat, covering her hair in it, as well. "I am truly sorry..." she said lowly, and mournfully, as she watched the girl toss and turn, her heart thundering in her chest as her body's immune system warred with the slowly spreading venom. Now all there was to do was to wait...and see if she would survive the transformation process, and become a vampire...or if her body would ultimately reject the venom, and she would die. For her sake, and for the sake of saving her own skin, Emma hoped it would be the former. Everything inside her tensed, and upon impulse, she started to scream but her terrorizing shrieks were muffled by the strong hand covering her mouth. Jez stared at her captor, her eyes wide with utmost terror and panic, and realised that she was staring straight at a pair of yellow eyes. That couldn't be normal, could it? A different brand of fear crept up to her and intensified when the woman said "this" was going to be very painful for her. This? What was this? What was going to happen to her? Despite the terror of her current situation, Jez still couldn't help but notice that her captor was breathtakingly beautiful. She'd never seen anyone with such intricate and flawless features as her, and paired with her bright yellow eyes, she was definitely something that was not human. I can only hope to be as beautiful as her someday, the incredulous thought popped up in Jez's head involuntarily. She was having an epiphany. She knew it. She was about to die and she was having a goddamned epiphany about being beautiful. She could almost laugh, a hysterical laugh gurgling beneath her muffled screams. Typical, vain Jezebel Arlin. And then the pain came, and it was the worst kind of pain Jez had ever felt. When Jez was eleven years old, she once accidentally choked on a small cube of ice and had to wait until the ice cube melted in her throat to let it dislodge itself. It wasn't a particularly long process, but it still hurt like hell and despite the ice being cold, it made her throat burn and since then, Jez had avoided ice cubes like the plague. But this? This was about twenty million times worse. She could feel the woman sinking her teeth into the side of her neck and it was a sting at first, like a needle, but all of a sudden it bloomed into a whole widespread of burning sensation that coursed through the veins of her entire body. She literally thought she was on fire and her body was covered with flames but no. The pain and burning was coming from within. Jez squirmed against the woman's grip and screamed and screamed for help, but the woman was way too strong for her struggles to take any effect on the steel strong grip the woman had on her. Was she dying? She had to be dying. Something that was causing her so much pain couldn't possible not cause her death. But she was too young to die. Sure, she might have lived a pretty uneventful life all this while, and sure, her family history was nothing short of unpleasant, but she hadn't had enough of the world yet. Old flashbacks were conjured in her mind and one by one the people in her life made appearances in her fast fading memory. Her dad, mom, brother, friends and enemies...they were leaving. Or was she the one leaving? She could feel her eyes roll to the back of her head as the pain became unbearable and she just wanted this to Stop! Stop! Stop! but it just wouldn't go away and then she could feel all energy leave her vessel of a body and she was falling...falling into null and void even though a very, very tiny part of her shrieked at her to stay awake because she couldn't allow this woman to hurt her anymore but the thought quickly vanished as she continued to fall... --- Jez didn't dream. She wasn't even sure if she had been asleep at all. Because when she woke up, she felt like she had been unconscious for centuries. She could still remember the unbearable pain...but they weren't there anymore. Instead, she felt...strong. She coiled both her fists, and could feel her fingernails hardly making a dent in her skin. Her skin that felt as hard as steel. She blinked. Tiny particles of dust floated in the air around her, and she could see them clearly. Little creaks of the place -wherever she was- were making noises as loud as if she was standing in the middle of a mosh pit of a concert. This was not normal. This was not human. What was happening to her? Was she even human anymore? The thought of being human or not stirred up an unpleasant memory in her brain, memory that should have made her heart race but...it didn't. In fact, she couldn't hear a single heartbeat. Panic claimed her. What the HELL? The image of an incredibly beautiful woman popped up in her mind. It was a memory of an event that happened mere minutes before...this. Her death, she presumed. But if she was dead, and this was heaven or whatever afterlife she was in, it certainly wasn't as appealing as people made it to be. It looked more like a dark and enclosed area full of stuff. Not anything in general, just stuff. Much like a warehouse. Her ruby red eyes took everything in hungrily...until they fell upon someone that made Jez scramble away immediately. It was the woman. The woman that did this to her...whatever this was. Unable to form a coherent sentence with all the emotions running through her head, she started snarling, sitting up in a feral position from her initial lying down position. She could see the woman's face clearly this time. Somehow, her beauty was amplified in her current state, if that was even possible. Jez knew she wasn't seeing things earlier, as she took in the woman's bright yellow eyes. Who was she? What was she? And what she had did to her...did she make her the same way too? And then a wholly different feeling claimed her that almost made Jez double over. It was something that had nagged at the back of her brain ever since she woke up, but the unfamiliarity of the entire place and situation she was in made her forget about it momentarily. But now it was back, and it was the only thing that she could think of, and it claimed all of her senses, making her unable to focus on anything else. She was thirsty. Jez had always been a very vocal person. If anything made her upset, she would make sure it was made known, to everyone within her vicinity if possible. It was one of the reasons she was not known as an affable person. She was honest, brutally honest, if you would, and so she admitted the burning sensation in her throat out loud, despite the fact that everything within her screamed not to trust the woman before her. "Th...thirsty," she started to claw at her throat, as the burning got more and more intense. It was much like the ice cube incident, but worse. She was feeling a lot of pain recently. She wondered what exactly was it that she had done to make her deserve all this suffering.

Pom Poms Won’t Save You, Girls
Chelsie
In an attempt to get Zoey more acquainted with nature and fitter at the same time Chelsie dragged her along on a nature walk. To say that her best friend wasnt happy was an understatement, Zoey was in a pretty sour mood and Chelsie couldnt figure out why. Nevertheless, they were out in the national park taking in the scenery and having a much lighter discussion than usual. Truth be told the rumours that had rocked the school about Chelsie bribing the gym coordinator to be captain had strained the cheerleading squad, nobody knew what to believe anymore. Zoey and Catherine seemed to be the only girls who fully stood by Chelsie and if they had a problem they were probably too nice to even bring it up. The sun was slowly setting on the Friday afternoon and they would have to end the walk soon in case the lack of light made them lose the track. Chelsie wasnt a camper and didnt like roughing it unless it was entirely necessary. If all else failed, they could just call up a parent to come find them; phone reception was dodgy in the area but if you climbed a tree you could get a good signal. Lets race for the next ten minutes, keep on the track and give it your best shot. Chelsie suggested. Youll feel better Zoey, exercise is good for the soul. Without a word from Zoey Chelsie smiled and sprinted ahead, the breeze rippling through her long chestnut hair. After a minute or two she realized that Zoey was out of view and she contemplated slowing down but Chelsies body wanted to run a bit further so she let it. It had been sometime since shed jogged through the national park and made a personal note to spend more time on this beautiful track, it was a great place to clear her mind. Chelsie slowed down a little and turned her head back, it had been over ten minutes now and Zoey was nowhere to be seen so she had to stop. Clumsily, Chelsie didnt look where she was going and her foot caught on a treeroot; her body falling flat onto the dirt track. She mentally scolded herself for not watching where she was going and stood up, an odd sensation was felt on the side of her head. Well, shoot. If there was one thing Chelsie failed at when it came to sports was first aid on herself, if anyone else was injured shed know exactly what to do but when it was herself she pretty much went into shock and didnt know what to do. Sitting down on what appeared to be the offending rock that she had collided with Chelsie put her hand to head, blood seeping onto her hand and she gritted her teeth as the pain struck. This wasnt anything she could deal with and had to wait for Zoey to catch up, eventually she heard footsteps behind her and sighed with relief. Zoey... she groaned. I was so stupid. Im so clumsy Im sorry. Yet it wasnt Zoey that had arrived, something much more dangerous than a rock was lingering in the shadows. Like This Post Grace Status: Offline Age: 47 Posts: Re: Pom Poms Wont Save You, Girls. {closed} Posted: 31 Dec, 2009 - 21:42:24 There was a scent on the breeze, familiar and.delicious. Her throat burned in answer to it, the warmth of the day must have brought humans out onto the trails that ran through the forest. She took a deep inhalation, turning her head and once she had her bearings, followed the direction of the zephyr carrying the tantalizing bouquet. The near constant rain that had dogged the lands she was currently hunting had ended with the sun's rising two days prior and now the soggy ground had hardened so that she could hear footsteps approaching. She would need to be carefulfeeding judiciously if she were to linger in these lush woods between the towns. The one to the north was more industrial and its dark alleys and more questionable inhabitants made feeding easier than in the town to the south. There was a scent closer to town ofothers. Others that were like her, she reached her fingers up absently to stroke the paler section of skin along her collarbone, it would not do to meet another who was feeding. Some were much more territorial than she was. There was another scent that carried on the breeze, and permeated the forest near the ocean; she was not sure what it was only that she felt a need to be wary of it. That did not please her in the least for she loved the oceanand this placewas comforting. There were few to encounter here in this wilderness.yet it was close enough to sources of food that she did not have to travel far. The memories were not as severe in the quiet of these woods and she felt at peace save for the burning in her throat that reminded her of what she was. Grace moved along the ridgeline above the dirt trail, the fallen needles of the surrounding conifers fragrant as they were ground beneath her feet. She drew her hood up, casting her face in shadow and hiding her golden locks within the deep green fabric, it would not do to have the hunt spoiled by the human catching a glimpse of her in the dappled sunlight filtering through the canopy. Today, there was the providence of the rise she had found overlooking the trail, but had it been necessary she would have climbed into the boughs above and waited there for the unsuspecting to pass by. Humans rarely ever looked up. That fact coupled with their weak senses, meant she was rarely in danger of discovery. The dark hair of a young woman came into view, flying behind her as she ran along the trail that passed below where Grace had chosen to wait. She turned her lightly tanned face, her eyes glancing behind her along the trailshe was pursued by someone or something. Grace tilted her head and scented, it was that strange scentthe one she was wary of. Had she a heart that could beat, she was certain it would have been racing. Everything inside her urged her to go down onto the trail, to take the girl and feed from her.yet she held herself back. The girl was did not seem afraidshe was smilingbut she was running from the scentrunning.. The path disappeared from Grace's vision and she hissed quietly, her fingers burrowing into the trunk of the tree beside her, as the forest around her became filled with deciduous vegetation. She found herself again in the woodlands surrounding the little village. Copdock was a little village inland from the white cliffs that bordered the easternmost part of the lands of Suffolk, England. It was not far from the a brackish inlet, a waterway that led to the North Sea, as it made its way between England and France. Though it was a remote little village northeast of London it was not immune to the troubles that plagued the country. Recent disappearances of a few inhabitants in the area, deaths that Grace was responsible for, would have gone unnoticed save that the stories of distant witch trials had reached the villagers and there was a panic taking over their imaginations. Stories of hexes and witchery and demons walking at the bidding of women around the countryside had inspired in the humans all sorts of cruelty among themselves. Now, there were men coming from the great city of London and at the bidding of others amongst them, gathering women from various villages around Suffolk and hanging them in the town of Bury St. Edmunds. It was a cool evening, that August night in 1645, when Grace was overcome with the need to quench the burn in her throat. She fully embraced her existence thenhaving only been cursed as she was for two and a half decades that abstaining from the hunt was not a concept she would even begin to understand for another sixty years. The draw of blood was strong, there were many gathered in the little village and she knew that they could not fight against her. She would walk among them, the shadows hiding her eyes from their gaze, and she would lure them to hermen eager to touch her golden locks, her scent drawing them as much as their blood called to her. And then she would withdraw from their hamlet when satiated, taking care to hide the bodies. But she never reached the wooden structures that marked the outbuildings of the town; she never stepped from the woods that evening. A woman was running.running towards the tree line, and another woman came behind her.their dark hair flowing behind them as they looked back at the men pursuing them. These women were accused of being witchesthat was the only reason they would be hunted by their own people. She took a deep breath and the odor of their blood bounding through their bodies, fueled by their fear, was so intoxicating. She heard the men calling, "Jane RivetMary Skipper..you evidence against your own personssubmit yourselves to the King's willto be tried for your Hellish Artsyou will be caught..." Grace was rightthese women were marked for deathshe would be doing them a kindness to feed from them. The first woman had reached the safety of the gloom of the trees but for the other she was failing, and the men were closing their distance to her. They carried on them a scent, bitter and thickpitch.they had the means of fire. Grace knew that even she did not want to risk their torches in waiting for the second woman. They would reach her before she escaped into the trees and they would light their waybut by then Grace would have other woman safely away, and she would drain every delectable drop from her body. The woman was panicked as she ran, it would taint the blood, give it a tang that Grace did not prefer over the blood of a man when he thought he would be dallying with a human woman, that was sweet and musky but she was hungryand this woman would be dead either way. She moved closer, the woman could not see as well in the gathering darkness, and she did not see the bramble vine that caught at her skirts drawing her to the ground with a hard thump, it would be so easy now for Grace to feed and be away before the weakling men had even sparked light to pitch. She heard the woman huff as the ground loomed up at her and knocked the air from her lungs and she was so close nowa few more steps and Grace would taste the soothing warmth of her life coating her throat and easing the fearsome blaze that constantly lingered. Grace drew another breath and the memory released her, the scent of pine and.bloodfilled the air between her and the dark-haired girl that sat before her. Her clothing had changed.nothis was not the witch.this was a girl from the town south of the forestit was called.Forks? A strange name for a townthere wasn't a river nearby that would have inspired its name twinning off through the wildernessand she could not believe that they would have been titled it after the eating utensil. Eating utensilsomething she had not needed in better than four centuries. The venom coated her teeth and filled her mouth as she approached the girl from behind. She was muttering an apology, to whom Grace could only imaginesome act of forgiveness to those who would miss her when she was found dead. Grace knew that the girl was pursued and she thoughtfor a brief moment to look down along the trail, to test the air for that strange, animal odor that had flowed behind the girl. She was not worried about the creatures of the woods, they were no match for her, and most avoided herso she was doing this girl a kindness as well. Saving her from being mauled by whatever was chasing her along the path, perhaps that was why she was offering her apologies to the air, she was wise enough to know her death was approaching...just not the way she expected. All these things flickered through Grace's mind and were just as quickly dismissed when the sharp rich aroma of blood filled her nose. The girl pulled her hand from her face and it was stained with red.beautiful, crimson dropsand the rapid pulsing of the girl's heart encouraging that succulent fluid to seep from her wound and trickle down her cheek. There was no hint of fear in her scent.she was strong and healthy andturning towards Grace. Grace wanted to savor the pleasant taste of her blood, before it turned slightly bitter with her terror, lunging forward in a blur to grab hold of the girl. Her long cool fingers seized the brunette tresses that brushed along her shoulders as she turned, jerking her head against her right shoulder even as her arm wrapped around the human's chest, pinning her arms against her body. Not that she could have fought her way free, but the struggling tainted the tasteit was always about the taste. She would not look at the girl's face.she would not see her.this girl's memory would not haunt her afterwards. Grace knew she would rememberever moment of thisthe delicate floral perfume that wafted with each movement and thrumming beat of the girl's heartthe feel of the girl's thick locks captured in her fist, and the little noise she made as Grace bent her head and sank her teeth into the exposed flesh. The artery ran close to the surface there along the delicate curve that Grace had forced the girl's neck to make. She would be able to drain the girl quickly and she would not suffer too greatlyshe would be dead before the fire of her venom burned her from the inside out. Grace held the human against her, her teeth opening the neck with no more effort than a human child might exert to devour candy floss, and she was rewarded with something much sweeter. The warm gush of the girl's life force filled her throat, soothing the constant ache, and Grace drank deeply from the girl before she started struggling. They were practically surrounded by nature in Forks, every single second they were breathing and living in town. There were trees and plants everywhere that painted the town green, yet Chelsie had this sudden impulse to walk around nature as if she hadnt been here for ages. Nevertheless, she had put down her novel, slipped into her pair of sneakers and follow Chelsie into the National Park where it was damp and moist, as usual. Small beads of moisture that lingered on leaves and petals told her that it had been raining. Her less than well-trained sneakers kept on slipping on the slippery ground and stone pavements, and that didnt help to lift her spirits at the slightest. They strolled along the path for some time, talking about random topics and enjoying the scenery at the same time. Zoey noticed the slight strain in Chelsies voice even though she knew Chelsie was making an effort to mask it. What with the drama of her cheer captain being framed by a senior who also had contact with Alex, a member of their own cheer squad, Zoey knew Chelsie was having some trust issues with her own team. The only people who had completely trusted Chelsie was Catherine and herself. Randomly, she kicked the leaves scattered on the ground with her left foot, hoping everything would work out eventually. Zoey was more than surprised when Chelsie suggested a race. Here? In the park? But before Zoey could start to protest, Chelsie was off, like an over-energetic bullet released from a pistol. Stifling a grumble, Zoey coerced her muscles to start moving and try to follow the direction Chelsie went to. Zoey wasnt a sporty person, and had only started real physical exercise ever since she joined the schools cheer squad. Even then, she wasnt a good runner, and soon enough she found herself lost in the woods, with Chelsie out of sight. Right, Chels, this is not funny, she yelled when she first thought Chelsie was hiding from her. After more than five minutes of frantic searching and calling out, worry crept up her spine quickly, and sweat started beading on her forehead as her shouts for Chelsie echoed back at her, as if the forest itself was threatening her. She prayed nothing bad was going to happen as she continued to find her way through the forest for a sign of her best friend. A small shriek echoed in the forest around her, a voice different from her own. At first, she had thought it was her own mind playing tricks against her, taking advantage of her frantic yet blurred mind to taunt and tease her of her cowardice and irresponsibility of not being able to track her friend. She whirled around anxiously to search for the source of the sound as it echoed again. She staggered wildly to where she thought it was coming from, almost wanting to slap herself for not realising whose voice it was; a voice she could recognise anywhere, anytime: it was Chelsies voice. Her feet brought her lurching into a clearing that was surprisingly void of any green life. There was a slight breeze here that billowed against Zoeys face, her brown hair in a trail behind her. It was eerily silent here, no birds chirping, no swaying of trees despite the wind, nonothing. It was as if Zoey had entered a null and void universe so commonly said by her father who was more or less obsessed with scientific matters. It felt like standing on space, no solid ground beneath her, for she wasnt fully aware of her surroundings that were occupying her five senses; her full attention was focused on the scene right in front of her; a sight that would forever be imprinted in her mind, whether she liked it or not, and, much to her horror, would change her life forever. Right then, she had no idea how big and forceful an impact was about to be blown onto her life, but she was about to acknowledge it sooner or later. A beautiful and graceful blonde woman that looked as if she had been transported from another millennium was standing in front of her; so was Chelsie. The stranger had a long mane of curly blonde hair that grew slightly past her shoulders, and she was clad in a gown that looked entirely strange in the current situation and century. But that was where her beauty ended, when Zoeys eyes started to move up to her face. The woman was clinging onto Chelsie in a way that formed a complete blank in Zoeys mind. Her head was turned to Chelsies neck, as if withdrawing something from between her collarbone and cheek. Whereas ChelsieZoey had to stifle a shuddering gasp and sob as she watched her friends face contort in what could only be understood as pain and agony. Zoey found her entire body rooted to the spot as horror overtook confusion and sent spasms travelling all over her body, which she didnt notice at first due to the shock and astonishment she was experiencing. She didnt understand what the woman was doing, but was fully aware that whatever her motive was, she was hurting Chelsie, and she couldnt possibly stand there and let it happen without her taking an action. For all she knew, her best friend could die right there and then, her life force being drained by this woman. No, woman wasnt the word she would use to describe her. Human seemed entirely wrong. She was a creature; a creature filled with filthy lust for human beings, and didnt give a damn about taking their lives away from their bodies. Before she knew it, she felt hot. Completely sweltering. Sweat broke out and she found her own body lurching forward in strange spasms. Her body temperature kept on rising until she felt weak, not only in the knees, but every part of her body. She wasnt aware that she was kneeling on the forest floor until both her hands met sharp branches that poked at her skin as she struggled to prop herself up. She was weak, hot, aching, and completely confused. Strangely enough, she even felt anger rise in her throat. Why, she didnt know at first, and reckoned her anger was directed at the creature for hurting her best friend, but later on, she realised her wrath towards the creature wasnt merely because of that; there was also a wholly different explanation to it. Explanation? There was even an explanation? Zoey personally thought her mind was going to the squirrels, what other explanation could there be? Would other people be able to save her? It was a matter of time before she broke down completely, perhaps even exploding before someone elses eyes. It all felt so surreal, as if she was in a different universe completely. Her life back then seemed so fake, as if someone had moulded her past life and set it into her mind, to deceive her of her own past, and this was the real deal right now. This was the real life she was living. And it hurt like hell. The poking at her palms never stopped, and strenuously, Zoey looked down to see if the branches were moving now. She was going nuts, surely anything was possible, right? Blurrily, her gaze trained down her hands and what she saw made her breath catch in her throat. Brown feathers. And these werent the normal sized feathers people see on the bodies of normal birds. It was huge, enormous, something similar that could be found in a museum or art gallery. Zoey managed to laugh even in a situation like this. What would gigantic feathers be doing on a forest ground? But, slowly, as she came to get a grip on her senses, which was quite an effort. The feathers travelled all the way up to her elbows, and she could feel her eyes squinting on its own accord. Her mouth was poutingand hardening. Her earsshe had no ears, she came to realise. Her mind was in a giant turmoil. She couldnt even hear what was happening around her, even though she was now fully aware of that. Instead of the eerie silence that possessed the forest a few minutes ago, there were distinct voices circling in her head, making her head pound even more violently. It was like being compressed in a container, having buzzing noises in your head that threaten to crack your head open. Absolutely frightened and panicked, she shouted mentally, not having the strength to do so physically, Help! Whats happening to me? Edited by Chelsie Overton Like This Post Status: Offline Age: 47 Posts: Re: Pom Poms Wont Save You, Girls. {closed} Posted: 05 Jan, 2010 - 00:37:08 The female stepped onto the track as Chelsie looked up and for a second she felt relief; this person was going to help her and they'd find Zoey again, everything was going to be okay. After that brief second uncertainty set in, the woman before her was without a doubt the most beautiful woman she'd ever seen. The pale pigment of her skin resembled the surface of a smooth pearl; there was not a wrinkle in sight, her skin was that of a goddess. The two locked eyes for a moment and Chelsie's jaw dropped at the sight of the black as black eyes the woman possessed. Something wasn't quite right and before she had a chance to finish that thought it was confirmed by the swift and almost invisible movement of the woman. What happened next was that of some sick and twisted horror movie, something that wasn't supposed to happen in the small and wonderful town of Forks. Chelsie was pinned to the ground writhing in pain, the woman had put her tongue to the wounds and was rapidly biting Chelsie, all the way down to her neck. Chomp, chomp, chomp... if Chelsie had the capacity to deal with the excruciating pain she was going through as well as think at the same time her mind would've been hooked straight on the fact that she was being eaten by some ferocious and exotic cannibal. The open wound was what turned the cannibal on, maybe she liked her meal to be garnished with a bit of dirt and already cut. Didn't cannibals usually cook their meat first though? That would be the one thing that would change Chelsie's mind, this was not a cannibal eating her it was some kind of monster. It could have been forever and Chelsie would not have known, but through semi-consciousness only one remotely clear thought was formed. Was this the end? Did everything in Chelsie's life lead up to this one particular moment? Seventeen years of a vibrant life had come to this, being eaten by a monster. Zoey was going to find her too and her best friend in the entire world would be tortured for life seeing the state of her maimed body. Then again Zoey wouldn't survive either, they'd both end up eaten alive and live happily ever after in heaven... at least then they'd be together. The cold blooded killer continued to feed on Chelsie as if she really was just a piece of meat, something at the lower end of the food chain who didn't have feelings, a heart or a soul. Hang on, coldblooded? The monster was extremely pale, coldblooded and feeding on her blood; all the facts would have been there for a healthy Chelsie to compute and she would now know that she was being attacked by a vampire. But through all the pain Chelsie could not figure out anything, except for a sudden blur of feathers and being shunted along the dirt. No longer was the pale woman on top of her, but what Chelsie would come to later know as venom was surging through her bloodstream and transforming her ever so slowly into something her wildest dreams could not even produce and all she could do about this was nothing but writhe on the forest floor convulsing, after all she had lost a lot of blood. She rarely played the hate-game on other people, thus earning herself less enemies; but at the rare times when she really lost her brittle temper and acted upon pure, rash impulse, it could be an ugly sight, at least, to her. She often frowned upon violent acts of bullying or teasing or other scenarios she had experienced before in her previous school, and even in Forks High. She thought she considered herself quite an angel at times like this, and was grateful she was never the type of person to lash out at anyone despite her temper. Well, she was about to be disappointed, because the pure fury that rose within her so suddenly and unexpectedly that Zoey herself was caught off guard was inexplicable to her then. The enormous, broiling anger underneath her veins gave her all sorts of ideas her old self would run away from even at the mere thought of it. The feeling was so strong that she hardly realised what she had become. It wasn't until she tried to take a step forward that she became aware of herself. Of what she had transformed into. Bewilderment engulfed her for a second as she tried to raise her hand but saw a wing instead. A large wing covered with feathers. She had wings. Her legs were enormous; and skinny. Her gaze trailed down to her feet and found talons instead. She couldn't suppress a baffled cry that almost shook the entire forest with its force and intensity. As if the echoes were reminders of where she were and what was happening before her, Zoey lunged at the beautiful creature before her, her hands outstretched, trying to shove her away. But instead, she found herself alighted in the sky, her claws extended menacingly, hauling the blonde woman away from the girl with the brown hair that was writhing on the ground. Her talons hardly had any use against the hard, smooth skin of the creature, but she soon found an immense strength within her that astounded even herself as she succeeded in shoving her onto the ground. There was blood everywhere, and she felt nausea rise in her throat so hurriedly that she thought she might just puked up even in this form. She stood in between the woman and the brunette girl a name failed to pop up in her mind in her current state of shock and anger. All she knew was that she had to protect the girl from the creature, the creature that not only made her wrath surface, but sent off a putrid stench so smelly it was a wonder she hadn't noticed it before. She faintly noticed that the woman's mouth was covered with a crimson substance that she recognised in horror as blood. She didn't know what it was, but all she knew was that she had to get rid of her; and her own body was acting according to the motive she had in mind. She lunged forward at the woman, shrieking forcefully, sinking her talons into the creature, wanting nothing more than to tear her flesh away for all the harm she had done. Port of Angels indeed...fallen ones perhaps. And though Grace might have though of herself in those terms long ago, she had come to accept what she was and to conduct herself within a set of rules that reflected a morality that seemed lacking in those she hunted in the industrialized coastal town. The blood of those that were available in the late nights and in the easily accessed alleyways often carried disease, the bitter tang of some illicit drug, or the blood was poisoned with alcohol that it was untenable. Not this girl's lifeblood....it was warm and clean and carried the taste of health. She ate well and as the girl's heart began to falter, the blood no longer welling into her mouth in a warm, steady flow Grace knew that she had done her a kindness. Whatever had been chasing her would not have given her such a kind death. It has been realitively quick and meaningful. She had given of herself to sustain another...it was better for the girl this way. The men....those that chased the witches....they did horrendous things to them....hung them, then displayed their bodies drawn and quartered as a warning to others, on the rare occasions that they didn't just burn them alive. Yes it was kinder this way. She had shifted the girl in her arms, as she went limp, lying her gently on the ground and kneeling over her, never losing contact with the pulse that although thready was still beating stubbornly just under Grace's lips. She became aware of the stench just before a weight fell upon her. She felt herself buffeted by some creature and she was knocked away from the girl on the ground, the blood continuing to run from her neck and spilling wasted along the dirt. Grace rolled to her feet, growling and hissing, her teeth bared at the creature that placed itself between her and the body she was feeding off. The smell was nearly enough to make her bring up the blood she'd so pleasureably digested only a few moments before and she stepped a few paces back, to try and assess what exactly had set upon her. She'd never seen such a creature....not in her four hundred or more years and not in the twenty that she'd lived as....a human in Athnasheen. This creature, this giant bird, this thing before her, some seven feet high and covered with long brown feathers had to be the thing that the girl was running away from. Grace had heard the stories told around the campfires of the travelers and merchant caravans returning along the overland route from the Indies. The people did not realize that something as dangerous as Grace lurked just beyond the firelight while they were enraptured with the stories of such creatures. Grace remembered the old man's voice spilling out the story for those gathered around the cooking fire, "the birds that we were warned of in the hilled lands beyond the great mountains were said to be more grand than even the eagles. The natives warned that they rose up from the jungles that nest on the banks of some great river in India and they would mutter the word Roc, or Rukh, depending on the language they spoke in. We honest traders were given advice to go far around the valley or to only travel when she could see great distance under a clear sky. These giant birds with their dark, unremarkable wings could hide in the clouds and when the time was upon them, they would plummet from the sky and snatch their prey up in their claws and soar away with them, to be eaten. We were warned to guard our horses and oxen with care as the Rukh are strong enough to make off with an adult elephant in each talon and they said by the time we realized that the shadow that fell upon was not that of the clouds but the shade of the bird's nearly 17 meter wingspan." Grace shook her head as she remembered thinking that the man's stories were nothing more than that...tales to frighten the more weak minded among the traders' caravan but looking up at the creature before her....she no longer thought his tale was simpy one for entertainment. After all, had she not become a...vampire should would not have thought they existed so who was she to disavow the existence of a giant predatory fetid fowl. Grace knew the creature had done no real damage to her but when it lunged forward, snapping it's beak and talons she wisely retreated from it until she could take a moment to consider how best to fight the beast. It was awkward....wobbling around on it's clawed feet and flapping its wings, and in a strange, moment of distraction Grace thought to herself that had this creature been the size of a normal bird, its flopping and uncoordinated efforts would have her naming it a fledging. This could be no fledging, not newly feathered chick because if that were the case, what would it's parent be like....it would be like a bird with a 17 meter wingspan that could lift elephants like a falcon carried field mice. She had decided to get in very close, use it's bulk against it, when she heard the thrashing among the leaves. She had thought to finish it quickly for the dark-haired girl; to end it for her with as little pain and terror as possible but when she had been dislodged from the girl's throat, she had lost her opportunity. She could just see the ashen face and burnished locks of the girl thrashing to the left and right as the girl arched and shook, writhing in agony. The venom had set in then. Grace had never had a hunt end so badly. She had always finished the humans she chose to drink from, rather than put them through the agony that she had suffered in becoming the creature she now was, and she was especially careful after her brief wanderings in Texas where she had witnessed the distruction and dealing associated with newly made vampires. That had been a long time ago...but she still remembered ever detail. Her fingers moved up to trace the lighter semi-circular scar that stood out light against the already canescent skin of her left shoulder. She should stop this before it got to that point...end the girl's misery here and now but as she took a step toward to do just that the creature came at her again and Grace backed away, hissing at it, "you stupid bird! You think you're gonna be able to digest her once that venom has taken hold?" But the creature it seemed was intent on claiming back it's meal from her and the suffering of the human lying on the lonely little trail in the isolated woods was beginning to tug at Grace's memories. She couldn't let herself be distracted while facing down this Rukh but unbidden the image of Margot, her foster mother from so long ago, slipped into place before her eyes. The woman's dark auburn locks escaping the snood she'd gathered it up in as a good wife did, and the blood seeping from her damaged neck just as it did for the body behind the brown-winged bird. Grace began to back away, her eyes focused on the girl and her uncontrolled trembling, but seeing a much different scene. Uillem was dead as was Gregor and Margot was dead, a creature just like what she had become rushed at her, and had fed from Grace as she'd just done to the girl that had Margot's hair color. Grace's entire body filled with pain, a remembered pain from the bite of the vampire that had turned her, his own feeding interrupted by the English forces come down from Kinlochewe pursuing the raiders and finding the vampire instead. She grabbed at her neck, much as she had that night in the thick highland fog of a late winter's night, the marsh frozen under her body, though the chill of the ground was a welcomed sensation as the fire of the venom raged through her veins. The girl was suffering this now....it didn't matter to Grace so much that she'd lost the last of her meal, the venom whether it was hers or not, would change the blood make it extremely undesireable, what mattered was that she had now condemned the girl to become what she was. That was, if this creature didn't eat her while she lay there helpless on the ground. Grace tried to think clearly but the memories of that night so long ago grabbed at her threatening to drag her deep into sights and pains she had hoped to never experience again. The girl would start screaming soon, begging for death, and Grace could not be here when that happened...she could not bear any more of the images playing across her mind and through her body. She took a last look at the girl, knowing that if she could not reach her in time and tear her apart, she would become a vampire. It had been so long since Grace had seen another vampire and she'd never been responsible for the creation of one...that had been Carys and....more memories flooded into her mind and Grace gave a scream of her own then. She was angry and frustrated, unsatisfied, and irritable. She was remembering the pain and anguish of her own changing and the flashes of her friend's....demise. It was overwhelming and in the condition she was in, she could not fight the creature over the girl's body, fledging or not. If the bird wished to eat the girl, and could manage it then Grace would not have to come back and stop the human before she completed the change and condemned her to be a vampire for eternity. It was justifiable....her leaving. She could not fight as she was now....and she had no idea how to wound the bird....and as the image of Uillem's unseeing gaze materialized before her eyes Grace turned and fled through the darkening woods. The sight of the woman's body falling onto the ground, her graceful posture broken thanks to her, almost made her want to whoop aloud in satisfaction. But her mental smile turned at its edges when the creature got up so swiftly at a speed Zoey thought impossible for humans. But then again, everything about this woman was contradicting the natures of a human, only she herself was trying to deceive herself with useless excuses, trying to convince herself this was all a dream. Her golden locks a in a dishevelled state hanging from both her shoulders, the woman stared straight at her, a menacing glare that almost sent Zoey retreating a step backward. It was only then that she realised the crimson tint in both the creature's eyes, her mouth curled into an ominous, feral growl, baring her sharp, blood covered teeth, looking so wild and threatening she could participate in a competition for The Scariest Growl among other untamed animals and still claim the champion title. Without realising it, a term had begun to form in the empty slot Zoey had reserved for this animal. Vampire. Zoey was never a fan of movies like Dracula or Frankenstein or other classic horror stories, but she definitely knew enough to understand that vampires drank human blood, and if this creature before her wasn't a vampire, then she was out of words to describe this creature. But it was wrong. A vampire? In Forks? Zoey thought she would have laughed out loud if she could. And even if there werevampires, they wouldn't be in Forks. Why would a fairytale creature make its appearance in such a boring and secluded town like Forks? Wait, what? The creature's words that were vague a minute ago started to make themselves clear in her brain. Something about 'bird', 'digest' and 'venom'. Well then, she really was a bird, one of her worst fears confirmed. She wasn't hallucinating or anything. Even if she wasn't much consoled by this shard of truth, at least she could get her facts straight in this hell of a turmoil her brain was churning especially for her. The next two words were a blur to her, but something told her this creature thought Zoey was going to eat the girl in pain but she was already injected with venom. The idea was absurd but that was the only piece of information that managed to fabricate in Zoey's mind then. She couldn't help but shake her head, as if the mere action would be able to dislodge the mayhem and havoc being wrought in her head. The only solution she could come up with, the simplest and most effortless solution, was to ignore it all. A scream interrupted her inner train of thought, and Zoey's head snapped up in surprise at the forlorn sound that was coming from the woman. It sounded almostpainful. The agony was contagious, and Zoey felt her heart ache, letting loose another caw in exasperation. All this time, never once did she step away from the position she was in that formed a barrier between the writhing girl and the creature. And, judging by her own size, the creature also knew well enough than to cross it to the brown-haired girl. She could almost recognise the lust and desire in the creature's eyes, always directed to the girl on the ground. It sickened Zoey so that it made her stomach churn in disgust. Her wings were spread open to assist her in stopping the woman from getting to the girl. Even though she wasn't getting a firm grip on the things surrounding her, she knew deep inside that she couldn't let the girl get hurt. She was important, to Zoey and to everything else in her life. She wasn't exactly clear why right then, but that was what her brain was processing for her all this time. Therefore, when the red-eyed creature turned away from her and actually ran, leaving the site in a speed so astounding, Zoey was shocked beyond words, not that she could utter them anyway. The creature was gone, a surprise Zoey hadn't expected for even a millisecond. Her instincts told her to stay at her spot in case it was a trap and she was going to return so soon she wouldn't be prepared for it. Her eyes scanned the vicinity of the area, and she found that her vision was much, much clearer and could see further compared to when she was stillnormal. She made an effort to make sure there were no ominous shadows lurking behind trees and shrubs, because, who knows what such an abominable creature could do? Finally, making sure there were no threats detected, she let her guard down, her tense muscles loosening, and she managed to catch her breath. At the same moment she did, reality came rushing back at her like fierce ballistics, hitting her in the forehead with such force and intensity it made Zoey's head hurt so badly. She turned to the girl lying on the floor and let out a distraught cry of sorrow, anger and frustration. How on Earth could she forget her? Chelsie, her best friend, who was now covered with blood, her eyes wide opened in what Zoey recognised as fear and pain. Blood was everywhere, on Chelsie's clothes and the ground, and yet it seemed as if it would never stop flowing from the wound the creature had made on her neck. Automatically, Zoey wanted to help her friend, to do anything at all to stop the blood from flowing, yet she was too frantic to even think straight in such a situation. Her mind was divided into two halves; one was screaming at her to find for a tourniquet to stop Chelsie from bleeding, the other half was yelling at her to get away from this place before she started to turn crazy. She was still positively sure it was all a dream, and her cells were doing everything to get her away from this nightmare. Torn between staying to help Chelsie and fleeing to, if possible, get help, Zoey chose the latter instead, spreading her wings once more and took to the air without even realising what she was doing. When she realised she was actually flying, her heart leapt, but indeed she was airborne, and she couldn't deny it actually feltnice. However, her previous jumble of feelings soon took over, and she was left a confused and tired girl in the body of a giant bird. It started to feel scary, being at such a height, looking over the entire landscape with her two beady eyes. The only time she had been this high was when her family and her had caught the aeroplane to fly from Illinois to Forks, and even then, the view her eyes could take in were limited. Now, it was as if there had always been a barrier between her and the view of the universe, and it was now broken down before her in the form she now took in. Forests, mountains and plainsit was all so breathtakingand dangerous. The air felt cool and chilly against her wings and feathered body, sending electric spasms up and down her spine. She never realised she was exhausted until even a single flap of her wings took more strength that she knew. Tired, she descended, but was in such a mess that she ended crashing on top of a tree and falling onto the ground, thankfully unscathed. She was so drained she barely had enough strength to pull herself up and prop herself against the nearest tree. But then she couldn't possibly stop, Chelsie was still back in the clearing, bleeding profusely, and here she was, a coward, doing absolutely nothing to help. You couldn't even help if you wanted to in this state. Her thoughts were starting to contradict herself, and she wished nothing more than to shut them up. She just wished someone could come over soon enough to end this tragic disaster, or better yet, force herself to wake up from this terrible nightmare. In the forest. In the freezing cold, with rain and snow and sleet and ice and goodness knew what else to contend with, given the season. The walks didn't bother her of course, considering how she didn't get cold, didn't have to worry about any sustaining any injuries from slipping on ice (well, for the most part anyway; it did still hurt if she was caught unawares and ended up on her tush in the middle of the path, even if not for very long), and how she loved the wintery landscape that was so familiar and yet so alien to her. But those tourists she had to take out on little nature hikes were just so accident-prone that it was beginning to verge on the ridiculous. Just how did they always manage to step in the wrong place, to trip over the wrong root or to somehow end up falling over thin air and walloping their head on a rock, resulting in a quick dash to the accident and emergency department of the Forks Hospital? That had been her morning. Eventful, chaotic, and she was sure if she was human it would have been pretty tiring, too. Thankfully she had the afternoon and evening off from entertaining guests who would be bound to their cabins and the communal areas rather than being able to play in the frigid Pacific Ocean where it lapped up against the Hobuck shore. After a quick soak in the bath and a change of clothes into something far more city-worthy, Roswyn set out to make good on her plans for the evening; a visit to Mercy in Seattle. The girl had enough appeal to make her want to make the four hour drive from her home out to see her, and it was sure as heck worth it when she got there. Roswyn couldn't wait; a night in in front of the TV with a pizza, a few beers and some snuggles sounded the absolute perfect ending to an otherwise trying day. Force of habit had Ros paying half attention to the road ahead of her and half to the shaded woodland of the Olympic Forest as she passed it. She knew what dangers lurked in amongst those trees, and despite it not actually being her territory, there would be nothing that could stop her from pulling over and stripping down to nothing so that she could chase a leech or find a trail that she'd caught a whiff of in passing. She loved how attuned her senses were to picking up any sign of the stinking bloodsuckers, no matter how small; with the windows unzipped in her Jeep she was bombarded by the scents of the forest and able to analyze it while driving. Multi-tasking, as only a woman could. She snorted back a laugh; hadn't she had an argument with Colt about how she could drive and do this sort of almost-scouting at the same time? She'd won, of course. He nearly always let her win. As her mind began to dwell on that failed relationship, Roswyn's attention was suddenly and thankfully snapped away from the thoughts of her missing Cowboy, drawn to a shape floundering above the trees not too far away from her. "What the...?!" There was no doubt as to what the shape could have been but why was one of her thunderbirds flying during the day when she'd banned them from doing it unless it was an absolute emergency? Oh jeez, maybe one of them's hurt.... Luckily there was no-one on the road with her, because Roswyn brought her Wrangler to an emergency stop and pulled into the side of the road. She jumped out and ran into the forest, stripping off her clothes as soon as she was far enough inside to be invisible from passers-by who mightn't appreciate the sight of a naked redhead sprinting through the trees, and who certainly wouldn't understand why anyone would want to be without the extra layers at this time of year. Once she was in a space big enough she shifted, immediately sending out a questioning thought to all of the shifted birds asking what the emergency was. Zoey's mind, unfamiliar as it was, came to her first and foremost. The panicked thoughts the girl was thinking made it more than obvious what had happened a new shifter. Well gee, you're all just popping up out of the woodwork nowadays, aren't you? Her thoughts towards the girl were grumpy at first as she realised that this would probably mean she wouldn't get to see her girlfriend that evening after all, but she had her duties to perform and she couldn't exactly avoid them. Hey, kid! Calm down, alright? And stay on the ground, for flippin' heck's sake... No flying! She added the alpha inflection at the end just to be sure Zoey would stay on the ground, because she couldn't risk them being seen, it would raise far too many questions and suspicions that would be hard to quash once they'd set in. She sorted quickly through the kid's confused thoughts as she tracked through the forest to find her, and was shocked to find that her shifting had been triggered by a vampire... and was there someone bitten, too? Blooming hell, where were all of the leeches coming from lately? When she finally got to the newly shifted bird's side, Roswyn cawed as comfortingly as she could, giving the tired thunderbird a once over with her beak and a quick preen to try and soothe her while checking for any injuries. Luckily, everything looked good. Vampire. Where is it? Tell me, quick. We need to catch the blasted thing before it can attack someone else... and the brunette? Where is she? We're going to have to... 'kill her' would have been Roswyn's next words, but she couldn't help but feel there was some sort of connection between her newest flockmember and the damn leech's victim. She may not have spoken them but the intention would be clear as clear as the fact that there would be no option in the matter. There was no need for Zoey to do anything other than point Roswyn in the right direction. She'd had enough experience of tracking by now to be able to find the spot where the attack had happened by using the honed senses her thunderbird form possessed, though of course a little extra help was always welcome to make the task easier. With just that little bit of information and prompting Zoey to aid her with directions, Roswyn ordered the brown bird to follow her as they went in search of the parasitic female and the one who had already started the transformation. No, vampires did not get tired. At least, not physically. The limitations placed on the human body that all gathered together and led to feelings of sleepiness or exhaustion were absent from the vampire's body. In addition to being immortal, vampires like Jason were also damn near invincible. However, just because he never became physically tired, that didn't mean Jason couldn't become "tired" of something. And right now, he was tired of multiple things. He was tired of running, first of all. The night before had been spent deep in the heart of Oregon, in a forest so thick it was a struggle just to go through. Jason had hunted last night, and two bears had fallen victim to his thirst. It was a less than desireable way to quench the thirst for blood his eternal body ached for, but it was necessary. If Jason didn't give himself the sustenance he needed, then his vampire body would weaken over time...to the point where he could barely move. Plus, the thirst would eventually overcome him and lead to him succumbing to the scent of human blood - which was really what he subconsciously desired all along. Jason was determined not to allow himself to divulge into the drinking of human blood, no matter how hard of a struggle it was not to. So, the only logical option was to feed on the blood of animals. It wasn't nearly as appetizing as human blood, but it served its purpose. The animal blood kept Jason's thirst at bay, and keeping his thirst quenched meant that he could safely (well, relatively safely) spend time around other humans - including his current (and everlasting) love interest, a human girl named Megan. Jason and Megan had been high school sweethearts, and Jason's turning into a vampire (partly due to a car accident and the injuries received from it) had kept them apart for the better part of the year. During that time, he'd spent all of his days (and nights) "training." Jason learned how to hunt the animals, and how to do it most effectively. He learned how to resist the temptations that came with being close to humans. And, most of all, he learned just how his vampire body worked. After all, the best way to take control of something is to first understand how it operates. That, at least, had always been Jason's philosophy. And, after training himself for so long, Jason was now what was called a "vegetarian" or "herbivore" vampire. So, on this chilly morning, Jason was not on his feet. No, he was seated in the driver's seat of his car - a 2008 Mazda 3 S Touring Hatchback, painted an obnoxiously bright color that the car company referred to as "True Red." Jason found it ironic that the color of his automobile was the same color of the life-sustaining liquid he drank to keep going. Many of his vampire cohorts (he refrained from calling them friends - Jason had only two of those) thought it odd for him to have a car at all. When you can run faster than any vehicle could hope to go, and said running never left you tired, buying a human-made contraption to transport you places seemed ludacris. But not to Jason. He'd been interested in cars from the get-go, and turning into a vampire hadn't changed that. Plus, the car came in handy when he was tired of being on his feet. It was a change of pace to be able to drive and let the machine do all of the work. And it would look odd if he casually strolled into the big city of Seattle (which he frequently visited) on the side of the road. The car's radio was off, a rarity for Jason. Today, he wanted quiet. Quiet to think. He had a lot on his mind. There was his recent birthday (Jason was frozen at the age he was, but the years still added up) and his recent reconnetion with his human girlfriend. He was risking everything by exposing his vampire life to her, but that didn't matter. When you were in love, nothing really mattered at all. Thinking of Megan brought a smile to Jason's face as he piloted the small and shiny car through the winding roads. At an obscene speed of well over 100 miles-per-hour, Jason crossed the border into Washington. The windows were down, and the breeze blew around him with a chilly sensation. Thankfully, being a vampire meant you never became uncomfortably hot - or cold. Still smiling slightly (due to thoughts of Megan and the spirited driving he was engaging in), Jason navigated the car around a particularly sharp curve. Suddenly, the scents of pine trees and wet grass that had been invading the small interior of the car changed. And what replaced them wasn't pleasant. It was blood. Human blood. The brand new tires screeched their protest as Jason stomped the brake and sent the car hurdling to a stop. He steered sharply right, and left the automobile nearly perpendicular to the road. Exiting the car quickly, Jason leaned his light frame against the cool metal of the hood, and closed his eyes. The smell was close, Too close. In fact, just a few steps into the forest to his left would probably lead him directly to the source. After all, the road he had been driving on was actually a closed-to-the-public service road for the park. Feeling the familiar sensation of desire pooling into his body (along with a steady stream of venom collecting in his throat), Jason ran his right hand through his dark hair - a nervous habit. As he stood next to the car, he pondered what to do. The blood was definitely human, no doubt about it. And if Jason hadn't just gorged himself on the blood of a bear not four hours ago, he probably would've instinctively tracked down the source and drained it himself. Thankfully, his lust for blood was staying under control...for now. Deciding against his better judgement to pursue the source and figure out what was occuring, Jason left his prized automobile and ran at top speed into the forest. Not one minute later, he stopped short and found himself peering at the body of a girl, roughly his age. She was laying in the middle of a hiker's path, and she was bleeding profusely from the neck. The rate at which she was screaming and writhing in pain, along with the severity (and relative cleanliness) of her injury all worked together to suggest that this had been a vampire attack gone wrong. What exactly caused it to end in the middle wasn't apparent, but the scent of the offending vampire still lingered in the area. It was unfamiliar to Jason, but he tossed the thought of it from his mind as he knelt next to the girl. She was obviously in agony, and Jason knew the process had already begun. The best he could do now was try and help her. Maybe...explain things to her? Either that or just keep her relatively calm until it was all over. Try as he might to deny it, Jason knew that stopping this girl from becoming a vampire was no longer an option. He'd gotten there too late. But he'd be damned if he was gonna leave her here to undergo the process alone...in the woods. "Listen, honey." He spoke above her screams and grunts. "I'm going to help you. I'm - I'm here to h-help. I promise." Jason gulped as the scent of her blood (dulled a bit by the venom making its way through it) reached him. "I'm going to get you through this. You can't really understand this now, but there's...there's something going on in your body. Something we're just gonna have to wait out." Turning a blind eye to his mind, which was telling him over and over again to leave the area and forget what he saw, Jason instead chose to listen to his heart. And his heart told him that this girl needed him now. He was here for a reason. After all, how terrifying would the process have been for him if Paige hadn't been there to explain it all? Picking the girl up, he began to run. His steps were still fully steady, despite the fact that he had the girl awkwardly positoned in his arms to avoid getting her blood on his clothing. That would just be too much. So, his black Janis Joplin t-shirt was still clean (as were his red gym shorts) as he reached his car.Yanking the rear door open, Jason gently placed the girl on the back seat. Laying her down was a tough process, as the pain in her body kept her from being still. Finally, Jason got the door shut and made his way back to the driver's seat. He could just run the girl back to the cabin, but that would be stressful for her and him both. The car just seemed like the logical choice. Mentally thanking himself for purchasing protective black-and-red seat covers, Jason started the ignition and glanced at the girl behind him as she lay in the seat. "Damn." He sighed outloud as he navigated the grassy shoulder of the road and got the Mazda back onto the pavement. Thoughts were quickly swirling through his mind as he drove (again, at crazily high speeds) back to his home. What had this girl been doing when she was attacked? Just hiking? Or something more? Why did the vampire quit halfway through? The only reasons one would stop drinking from a human were if one intended on making the human a vampire (as Paige had with Jason) or if the vampire had been interrupted - by a shifter, of course. Another human entering the scene would've just mean more blood to drink. But, that was strange...Jason hadn't really detected the scent of a shifter in the area. Then again, during the time of panic, he wasn't exactly what one would call observant. In a matter of minutes, the flashy red hatchback was skidding to a stop in the worn-down front yard of a small cabin situated deep in the forests of Oregon. With lightning speed, Jason shut off the ignition, yanked the car door open, and carried the girl towards the house - shutting the car door with his foot. Pulling a blanket out of the hall closet with his free hand, he placed the girl on the couch as she continued to scream. Jason tried to think of anything that would dull the pain for her, but he came up empty. All that was left to do now was wait. Not sure what to do next, he stood next to the girl and tried to utter some reassuring words. A few stutters later, Jason realized she wasn't listening to anyone - or anything. He grabbed his phone and furiously dialed Paige's number...hoping she'd answer and not be angry with what he had "found."

Appearance:
Jezebel Arlin had begun charming grown-ups, friends and teachers ever since she learnt how to speak. She had wavy, blonde hair that sometimes came in curls, smooth, fair skin, a cute button nose, a pair of bright baby blue eyes and a mouth with full lips that always presented a wide, cheerful smile. Almost everyone adored her, even in kindergarten, her teachers would pinch her cheek and mutter baby language that was supposed to cheer a kid up, although Jez despised it. Back when she was still a childish kid, she often wondered why people did that to her, and started to frown upon their actions. Her lack of experience had yet to teach her about the philosophy of appearance, beauty and impressions. However, Jez got her vanity when she started elementary school, just when her features started to bloom. Her hair got straighter, longer, and her she grew twice her height, her aqua eyes shinier than before. High school she was the self-proclaimed fashion trendsetter of St. Victorias High at Toronto, Canada. She had a slim waist and body curves at just the right place, a figure many girls in her school expressed envy and jealousy for. Jez became a vain, arrogant brat, and flaunted her perfect figure by donning on outrageous outfits to school, parties, or anywhere at all. Jez loved her body, but if only people knew that she starved herself practically every day to achieve her ideal figure. After high school, Jez and her family moved all the way from Canada to the US, where her mother had taken up a job in Forks, a small town at the Olympic Peninsula. Jez rented her own apartment at Seattle, where she is currently studying in the university there. She continued her wild partying ways, a habit she picked up towards the last years of high school. She turned into the model-like person she had dreamed about for years, and her arrogance grew even more. Working as a part-time waitress at a bar in Seattle called The Hole, Jez often violated the workers dress code, always coming to work without her uniform, a deliberate prank to show her rebellious ways. However, when she wasnt going out to parties and shopping trips, Jez preferred to wear an oversized tee and shorts and tie her slightly wavy hair into a bun, and simply relax within the confines of her home.
Personality
Jez didnt really have a happy and perfect family background. All was well back when she was still a crawling baby, perhaps even the perfect family a two-year-old kid could ever wish for. However, ever since her father lost his job as a bank accountant, he started to pick up serious negative habits such as drinking and such, which was a few years after Jez started high school. Since then, she made herself a makeshift faade of a tough cookie, a snob, to hide the aching sadness within herself. Never once did she try to interfere with her parents arguments, even though she had always wished to do so. She never told anyone about her family affairs, and with that stubborn attitude of hers, nobody in her school ever found out. When her father started to leave home and became a jobless wanderer around the streets or Toronto, Jezs temper took on an uglier side. She was easily roused and angered, and became a vindictive person. She couldnt bear the feeling of being let down and called a failure, and would do everything for the sake of her reputation. Later on, she realized the reason behind her temperamental attitude was because she had always blamed herself for her fathers outcome, and even though she still loved her father, she refused to follow his footsteps into a failure. Once, her boiling temper even got her into a pot of boiling hot soup when disagreed with her mothers lawyer. It was a terrible memory Jez could never ever forget, but one she didnt regret. Stubbornness is also one of Jezs traits. Once she gets hold or set eyes upon a desired item, she will try everything she can to possess it. Besides, she isnt one to take instructions and orders lightly. She hates being treated like a servant, and is hard-headed when it comes to making her own decisions. Jez wasnt what you would call a people type of person. She doesnt communicate well with people, especially during family gatherings or school reunions. Therefore, she didnt have many real friends (excluding desperate hang-ons during her Queen Bee days) and even then, she didnt treat them like a true friend would have. In spite of that, Jez was actually a pretty lonely person, that she would admit. She wasnt fond of meeting new people, but always had a lifelong wish to meet the perfect person she could call her best friend. Underneath the tough faade she frequently wore, Jez considered herself a quirky, serene spirit that keeps a diary underneath her bed to express her disappointments and regrets, as well as her happiness and joy. So far, no one had yet to penetrate the barrier she created for herself to separate from the rest of the world, not even her parents, and Jez was glad to be the only one to know her real self.
History:
Naomi and Sean Arlin led a peaceful life on Seafield Street, a secluded neighbourhood in Toronto of Canada. Naomi Huberman Arlin was a surgeon, whereas her husband worked as a bank accountant. They always had sufficient money in their bank accounts, a house they considered quite large for the size of their family, two working cars still in perfect condition, and stable jobs. It was the type of family everyone dreamed and envied, and the Arlins were constantly surrounded by a crowd of supporting friends. At a bonfire night, Sean promised Naomi, We will never be apart. A year later, Naomi gave birth to an adorable baby girl, the couples wish fulfilled. The name Jezebel had been stuck in Naomis head for a while now, and Rose was named after Seans grandmother. Jezebel Rose Arlin was a cute little angel, and the new parents couldnt be prouder when relatives and friends swarmed into the ward to catch a glimpse of the cherubic baby. Sean and Naomi practically spoiled their kid, giving her the best of everything she wanted. Jezebel learned to speak and walk at a fairly young age compared to her parents friends children. Two years later, Jezebels brother, Mason, was born. Being a mere two years younger than Jezebel, the two siblings were sometimes mistaken as twins. They had the same deep brown hair, high nose, and bright blue eyes. The two of them grew up together as best friends, and Jezebel always fulfilled her responsibility as a big sister to Mason. They usually looked out for each other in school, especially when Mason was still a new kid and was often teased by the bigger, older kids in elementary school. From an outsiders point of view, people wouldve thought they were the perfect role model for siblings, always living together harmoniously as brother and sister, and their parents were equally happy for the family. The first few years of Jezebels life, or which she rather liked to call, Chapter One, was the perfect life she had ever dreamed of. Back when she was still stuck in the first chapter, she thought they would always stay like this, leading the perfect life everyone always dreamed of. She thought everything would be okay, more than okay, sometimes, and loved how her life had turned out. However, life doesnt always give you rainbows, sunshine and little balloons, Jezebel grew to understand. The Perfect Life she had been living decided to take an evil twist, and Jezebels life was never the same again. High school started, and Jezebels good looks and overconfident attitude earned her a reputation located at the top of the social ladder. Arrogance and pride squirmed their way into Jezebels mind and she became the haughty Queen Bee of her school back in Toronto. Since then, she hated people calling her by her first name, and demanded they call her by Jez. Mason noticed the change in her attitude, and their previous friendship waned until they barely glanced at each other anymore. Mason was sick of Jezs snobbish ways, and Jez thought Mason was such a coward. The typical teenage sibling rivalry played before their parents eyes, but it wasnt something adults had control of. Nobody knew what Mason was hiding when he started high school. One uneventful day, he was caught with two more kids doing drugs at a secluded lane behind the school during school hours. Jezs parents were appalled by the sudden news, demanding that Mason had always been a good kid and everything, but in the end, Mason was sent to a Juvenile Centre when they figured out his behavior had lasted for a few months now. Jez felt ashamed of her brothers behavior and never talked about him again, forgetting she had a brother altogether. However, five months later, it was reported that Mason Arlin had escaped from the centre, and was still currently searched by a search team. Three years later, an economic crisis caused Sean Arlin to lose his job as a bank accountant. The pressure of losing his job and son were too heavy for him to bear, and he was tempted into wild habits. He always left at the crack of dawn and returned way past midnight. The loud rows and quarrels weighed heavy on Jezs shoulders, and once, she was prompted to run away just like Mason did. Despite everything she did to reunite her family again, her father barely took notice of her and continued being a nameless, drunk wanderer, failed to be stopped even by her mother. In the end, Naomi Arlin had no choice but to move away from Toronto to get away from her problematic husband. Right on cue, Naomi was offered a job at a hospital in Forks, a tiny town in the Olympic Peninsula. By then, Jez had started to abandon her studies and preferred to hang out with her friends at clubs and old buildings till the wee hours of the morning. Naomis other motive of her move to Forks was to hope that Jez would be able to start over and prevent her from turning into someone like Jezs father. A few years after Jez graduated, mother and daughter migrated to the United States of America, where Naomi rented a terrace at a neighbourhood in Forks. However, Jez refused to be anywhere near her old life and rented an apartment in Seattle instead, where she enrolled in Seattle University for the sake of her mother. She took up a part-time job as a waitress at a bar called The Hole to keep the cash in her wallet stable. It wasnt the life Jez had wanted, but it would have to do for the time being, she reckoned.

Appearance:
Since young, Zoey had always appeared as a buck-toothed, brace-wearing, short girl with frizzy chestnut coloured hair. She was often looked down upon by friends and relatives ever since her kindergarten days for her less than average looks, back when Zoey and her family still resided in Illinois. Going to elementary school changed her a little. She dropped her glasses plus the braces, but still, her classmates snubbed and ignored her, thus planting a shy seed in Zoey herself. Her less than pleasant history made her the shy person she was now, and there werent many comforting memories at her old hometown, either. Puberty brought about a huge transformation in her appearance, when she first moved to Forks. Her hard complexion features softened to reveal a sweet, angelic face with large hazel eyes, mixed with a slight indigo tint inherited from her grandmother, and was the only thing that seemed to stand out in her features. Her frizzy hair soothed out into a long mane of coffee coloured hair that reached her waist, and her skin has a similar but slightly lighter brownish hue, giving her a sun burnt kind of look. Her short and stout bodice shot up a few good inches, and her waist eventually shrank. Zoey may seem small and petite at first glance, her body a fragile and tiny frame supporting her heart-shaped face, but since joining the Spartan cheerleaders, she'd gotten herself plenty of exercise and is fit as a fiddle. Zoey as a Thunderbird shifter has dark brown feathers and a bright yellow beak. Like all Thunderbirds, she is huge in size and it was the enormity of her size that had scared herself when she first shifted. Post-shifting Zoey as a human has also experienced a change in which she lost a lot of weight and looked more haggard than her bubbly cheerleading days. She had permanent dark circles under her eyes and constantly looked as pale as a parchment. However, after her brief move to Finland, she managed to make herself look better, though not as good as her pre-shifting days but good enough. Hence, that was one of the reasons she was most reluctant to move back to Forks after three years.
Personality
Zoey was ostracized from society ever since she was young, and things didnt exactly turn well for her for the next few years. People often gave her disdainful glances that indicate that she was not worthy of their appraisal. Therefore, being the only child in her family, Zoey grew into a shy person, avoiding attention and crowds if she could. Although many people thought being the only child was a privilege, Zoey saw it as a tormenting experience, as there often was no one she could confide in. Her secrets, her thoughts, her opinions She had to keep them to herself, and more often than not, she wished herself a sibling to be her guardian, as her workaholic parents were playing the negligent game on her. Many people think that introverts are, in actual fact, proud and ignorant brats, but Zoey was anything but one. She merely had an introspective personality and preferred to muse over her thoughts alone, undisturbed. In her opinion, she hadnt done anything impressive, what was there to brag about? Nevertheless, she was one of the losers and outcasts in Fallbrooke High of Illinois, and once again found herself alone and isolated with no one to keep her company. Despite her shyness, Zoeys brittle temper can be quite a flare once she was triggered, and her rebukes were often less than polite. It was as if the loneliness she had felt since young had piled up inside her, and resulted in a more than sulky attitude whenever she was infuriated. However, it doesnt take much to relief her of her anger. Say, books and music were her best remedies. More often than not, her mood swings would take over her feelings, and people were often taken aback by her volatile personality. Meeting her new stepfamily brought out a change in Zoey. Perhaps it was the bubbly aura of the Baileys that had infected her system and caused the upward curving of her lips every time she meets people. Indeed, her step-sister, Linden, was a caring sibling, and Zoeys childhood wish was finally fulfilled, and at the same time, she got herself a new best friend and was not lonely ever since. Unfortunately, great things do not last long, and Lindens sudden death made Zoey replay her old past life again. Her loneliness and helplessness returned with a force so tremendous, it was exhausting. Once again, she shunned herself away from everybody, meaning to mend her broken heart all by herself, but was later guided back to her route of happiness by her newfound best friend, Chelsie Overton. Things went downhill again after Chelsie was bitten by a vampire and Zoey started shifting into a Thunderbird. Her old snarkiness and moodiness returned and she was her bitter self once again. The move to Finland however, opened her eyes a little and she matured greatly over the years. She was not prepared to be forgiving during her return to Forks, but Zoey knew better than to completely sink into the deep pits of her old bitter self once again.
History:
The Shikobas can be regarded as an ancient American native family of the Makah tribe that dated back to the 30s. Born in the 1960s, Troy Krueger Shikoba was a lucky son, as he didnt have to go through the poverty condition the Shikoba ancestors had to endure. It was the most fortunate year for the Shikobas. Therefore, it can be said Troy Shikoba was the luckiest of the young Shikoba generation. Troy Shikoba met Nathalya Sparrow in university, which he went to after graduating. And, of course, they fell in love with each other and there were no objections between the two families towards their marriage, although the affluent Sparrows werent exactly appeased by Thalyas choice of a bridegroom. The arrival of Zoey Ishka Shikoba on the 31st of December 1992 to couple Nathalya and Troy Shikoba was greatly anticipated, as they were childless for a decade since their marriage. Relatives and friends often marvelled at the cherubic child, and her parents couldnt have been prouder. Years specifically fourteen years- after Zoeys birth, Troy was ordered to Forks, due to working reasons, and after several weeks of exhausting trips to and fro the two towns, Troy Shikoba announced an official move to Forks, a tiny town located somewhere in the Olympic Peninsula. Of course, Zoey was both sad and elated, but excitement soon triumphed over solemn as Zoey was utterly glad to leave her traumatic past behind in Illinois. Despite the move to a smaller town, the Shikoba couple remained busy as ever, hardly paying attention and regard to that little child of theirs. Although she was the only child, Zoey was never spoilt by her parents, but was brought up strictly and primly instead, even when they still lived at Illinois. Her past time were spent juggling several curriculum at once; academic tutoring, piano and violin lessons, swimming and netball lessons. Although Zoey kept on comforting herself that her parents was doing this for her own good, she found herself in despair every time she saw other kids enjoying themselves in the snow, or running around in meadows near to her house. Despite peoples incessant comments about her being the perfect child, Zoey felt anything but whole, anything but perfect, for all she ever felt deep inside was a huge, yawning void, waiting to be filled by someone who loved her dearly. Zoey only found comfort in the stories her grandma often told her about the Makah tribe, a tribe both her parents were part of. Due to the amount of time Troy and Thalya Shikoba spend on work, Zoeys own dear parents never had the chance to tell those tales themselves. So when Grandma Shikoba eventually contracted schizophrenia and had to be in a ward on a long term basis, Zoey felt left out of the world and often retreated to her own thoughts, which had now became her own personal sanctuary. Zoey started school at Forks High and was usually classified as one of the freshman freaks. Her so-called friends werent even enough to fill a raft, and she was frequently snubbed and ignored by her student body for one, being an outcast, and two, scoring the highest grades on every test. To everyone, she was the haughty Zoey Shikoba from the rich Shikoba residence; the spoilt princess of her parents. Even though Zoey was hurt by those remarks, she tried to hide her feelings with an imposing faade, determined to be oblivious in this school of hell as she reckoned that she couldnt have felt lonelier than she already was. The excuse of work eventually became the reason of the divorce between Thalya and Troy Shikoba, as they brought up the subject casually during dinner, as if it was merely an idea to repaint the kitchen walls. Surprisingly, the divorce wasnt quite a surprise for Zoey after all the time she was neglected by her parents, and the only feeling felt during the separation was nonchalance, and perhaps a wee tinge of regret as she watched her father leave the threshold. Her mother had put on a stony expression that was unreadable, and even though Zoey knew she was the one who had suggested the divorce, she knew Thalya Shikoba was still filled with an influx of regret towards her first love she met 20 years ago. Zoey had stayed with her mother in a secluded suburb in Forks ever since. Thalya Shikoba who didnt bother to change her surname-, was a single mother for two years, until she met Dirk Bailey, and surprised Zoey by announcing the news of her remarriage over the dining table. A wave of jumbled emotions swept over Zoey and she realised that they were mainly made up of fear and nerves. She already couldnt cope with her classmates at school, much less a new family. Under that layer of fear and apprehension, there was also a tinge of agitation and irritation towards her mother, possibly triggered by her quick and rash decision to remarry and build a whole new family with a complete stranger in the said strangers house. When the time had arrived, sensitive Zoey was afraid to meet her new family in the magnificent and majestic Bailey house in Seattle. She was afraid of their reactions and judgments towards her, the shy and sulky Zoey Shikoba. Worse, she was afraid she wouldnt be able to accept what was in store for her, as she was never a fan of new changes and surprises. However, surprisingly, she found herself comfortable with her newfound father and stepsister, Linden Bailey. It thrilled her more that they were in the same clan, the Makah tribe, and truly believed that things would start to get better after all. And she got her wish, as Linden was the best sister and friend she had ever had in her sixteen years of life. Stories about evil step-families were now considered taboo in Zoeys mind, and she couldnt believe she could ever fear the Baileys. Zoeys blissful dream was destroyed on a rainy day in the month of May, when she found her step-father and mother crying in the living room. She herself was shell-shocked when her mother blurted out that Linden was dead. Zoey could feel her world crashing down around her and refused to accept reality. No one and nothing could confirm the real cause of Linden Baileys death, except that she was covered with lots of brutal and severe lacerations that were fatal and was believed that she was killed by a wild animal when tracking through the woods at an ungodly hour in the morning. Zoey didnt believe any of it, and was sure something was behind her sisters demise, and vowed to find out the real truth by herself even though she was reprimanded constantly by her mother for her paranoia. Lindens death brought out the old Zoey; the isolated and grumpy and lonely girl she was at her previous hometown. Suddenly, school turned out to be a great bore, and the few friends she made at her first few days at Forks High School realized her change in behavior too and started to avoid her. Zoey couldnt help herself, but thought it was probably best for her to avoid people, and for people to avoid her. However, a few weeks later, she met a new girl, Chelsie Overton, apparently hailed from San Francisco and a small class-skipping act brought the two teenage girls together, and they were best friends ever since. Zoey still couldnt forget about what happened to Linden, but in the end, she promised to not ever fall into the sunken pit of her life again, and returned to her bubbly and cheerful self, which earned her even more friends than before, including her newfound boyfriend, Blake Matthews. Thanks to Chelsie's encouragement as well, Zoey decided to join the Forks High Spartan Cheerleaders in her junior year and that was what Zoey liked to call her "golden era". She had everything she could ask for: a best friend and close friends from the cheerleading team. However, Blake and Zoey drifted apart gradually and both agreed it was for the best. Since then, Zoey had never been in a serious committed relationship, and she preferred for it to be that way until she found someone she might, well, imprint on. Her golden era collapsed the day Chelsie and her went to the Olympic Forest for an innocent jog, which ended up with Chelsie being bitten by a vampire and vanishing thereafter, leaving Zoey to phase into a Thunderbird for the first time. Fortunately, she was discovered by the Makah Alpha at the time, Roswyn Sands who had stopped her from going after the vampire that had turned Chelsie. Chelsie's "accident" had a huge impact on Zoey's life. She was her old self again until a few weeks after the incident, when her mom and her stepfather decided a move would be appropriate, and the whole family packed up and left for Finland without telling a soul. At the time, Zoey hardly cared but in retrospect, she probably should have told the Flock about her move instead of leaving them hanging. The three years Zoey spent in Finland helped her to mature greatly. She knew she could never become the same bubbly cheerleader she was again but she was determined not to sink into the deep pits either. There, she had the privilege of leaving her past behind and learned the brand new cultural ways of the Finnish. She didn't mind staying at the Scandinavian country forever. However, the world isn't a wish granting factory and three years later, Dirk announced that they would have to move back to Forks because he was needed there by his company. Plus, both her parents thought it was finally time to return to reality. Zoey was less than pleased, but she knew her parents were right, and that she would have to face her problems eventually. Her first sights of Forks were painful, and the sight of Forks High was even worse. Memories of her and her girls practising on the field every afternoon, her hangouts with Chelsie at the cafeteria...she was relieved she had already finished high school. She was also surprised to find that almost everyone in Forks was a stranger to her, and the same could be said for the Makah Flock. Despite the fact that she crave for familiarity, she decided she could work with a whole new environment too, just as long as it didn't give her headaches as her old environment had.

hi [name of person],
this formatting is making me uncomfortable but I have to tell you something / ask you something that is vital to my career as a student.
I re-read and edited that sentence for an hour, but you’ll probably just glance over it for half a second.
thanks!

The signs as evil mythical creatures
Aries- A traveler, and spell caster. Mutters incantations under their breath, going mostly unnoticed. Deadly. At least one side of their face is always concealed.
Taurus- Appears in the forest as an innocent woodland creature to lead those wandering astray, never to be found again.
Gemini- A spirit who delivers nightmares to whoever they deem fit. Floats through the night, with a childlike giggle every time they make someone scream.
Cancer- The ghosts of warriors. Haunts the places that meant the most to them. Has an eternal desire for revenge, will torture anyone who disturbs them.
Leo- Forest fairies. Only visible to small children, tricking them into making deadly mistakes. Tiny, beautiful, but vain creatures. Bad tempers.
Virgo- A Satori, or a mind-reading humanoid. Seeks out fragile people, so they can drive the to insanity by speaking their thoughts before the other can say them.
Libra- God/Goddess of fire. Tall stature, dark eyes, voice filled with authority. Can intimidate anyone into their submission, but only keeps a very few close.
Scorpio- A demon humanoid who can kill any human just by looking into their eyes. Roams at night, wearing all black. Seeks out those doing unspeakable crimes and sends them to hell
Sagittarius- A spirit that predicts bad fortune/death for humans. They look innocent, with flowers in their hair and wide eyes but when they leave those flowers on your doorstep.. there is no hope.
Capricorn- A succubus/incubus, a creature who feeds of the romantic or sexual energy of humans by draining them. Breathtaking and mischievous, but very paranoid.
Aquarius- A water demon who lures sailors into the water only to drown them. Much like a mermaid in appearance. Very self-centered, but they are the most beautiful creatures you will ever meet.
Pisces- An apparition of a young woman that will appear and disappear at will to trick travelers into following them until they are lost, hopelessly.
