death to gourmands!!! i'm making my 2025 all about animalics: leather, musk, civet, castoreum ALL OF IT!!! throw in an indolic jasmine! gimme a carnal lily! when i want to smell like a slimy sea creature from the depths of the mariana trench i want that ambergris and sea salt mix!

but thats not to say animalics are easy to get into. theyre daunting in a world filed with vanilla buttercream gourmands and “my skin but better” soapy, laundry scents. despite their prevalence at the start of perfumery, animalics have fallen out of vogue. and because of our associations with scent and time, ppl consider them dated or “old ladyish” which i dont find fair! theyre intriguing, mysterious, and sultry. and 2025 is the year of the grown woman, no more kids games. this is for those who want people to use the words “vixen”, “minx”, and “sex kitten” to apply to them.

if you want to join me on my raunchy journey here's some beginner animalics to help you out.

sex and the sea is a relatively easy animalic to get into. its almost comforting and very nostalgic as it was inspired by francesca bianchis childhood growing up at the beach, smelling her sea-salty skin. theres a warm sweetness to it, and its very skinlike but not a skin scent. honestly great for the summer months. def not blind buy safe BUT i think this is a great entry point.

most ppls first animalic this is a pretty “clean” musk as its almost floral. a white musk if you will. you’ve likely smelled this without knowing. super easy to find and its not likely to be too daunting if you blind buy but like with anything still test it.

many dont know that honey is an animalic but it is! and while im not a fan of the kardashians i’ll admit this is a stunning scent. its rich and warm, an almost cozy animalic and the waxiness from the beesewax prevents it from being syrupy sweet. super affordable and easy to find its in many stores like tjmaxx and ross etc and a decently safe blind buy as its still a familiar smell.

corpalium is a very heady scent. but its tampered but its iris notes which add a more familiar powdery note. still sample before buying but this is great to get your nose on to explore animalics more.

my personal favorite this is a rich, heady leather-raspberry. i’d say its almost powdery due to the iris which makes the leather very suede like. but the animal notes really come thru on the dry down as its almost like how your body smells when you sweat after a shower. absolutely not blind buy safe but its sweetness provides a good entryway for those who still wanna cling to their fruity scents.

this is a rich, potent leather smell that reminds me of a mans leather jacket. that isnt to say its super masculine, i consider it very unisex! as if youre wearing a mans leather jacket after spending the night with him. but its a scent you’d have to get your nose used to. sample first like always but its a wonderful experience.
