Gunnerkrigg Liveblog #7: Oh yeah, I have a Tumblr liveblog
Ah, it's good to have university off my plate for the next little while. I should probably check my email for notifications to see what's...
Oh.
I thought I had forgotten something over the past... nine months. I'm sorry.
But the best way to make up for my absence isn't to just say sorry, it's to actually be present for a change. So let us pick up Gunnerkrigg Court where I last left off.
Chapter 12 is titled "Mainly Involves Robots" (12.200), and I assume that it at least partially involves robots. It begins (12.201) by having Annie discuss some things she's learned about Shadow 2 (c.f. Chapter 8 for who that is):

And not only that, but Kat even made a machine that gives Shadow 2 a voice (12.202). Good work, Kat!
After this, we finally get to the robots we were promised in the chapter's title. Annie discusses her past attempts to speak with the robots she encountered on the bridge (c.f. Chapter 7 for what that's about). I also must admire the robots' "ability" to keep their door hidden from the curious public (12.205):

Genius. But when Annie decides to go up to the door again, this time with Reynardine by her side, she comes up with an even more genius idea (12.209):

Truly, this is a battle of wits.
Of couse, this works perfectly, and Annie is let inside. She requests to see "Robot 13," apparently more properly called "S13," but unfortunately, it appears that S13 has been disassembled as a criminal, but his AI survives (12.212), so Annie goes to see it. It's a long hallway, so Reynardine turns from a plushie into a full-blown beastie (12.214). I... didn't know he could do that.
They finally get to their destination, and Reynardine smashes open some glass where S13's CPU is being stored (12.216). This triggers a security system to respond, forcing Annie to run away with the stolen CPU in hand (12.217).

I love how politely naive these robots are. As they escape, the next page (12.218) indicates that all of the robots here think like this.
Once they make it back, Kat analyzes the CPU her friends stole for her (12.220), and plugs it into a device that can allow the late Robot 13 to speak to them. It works, and S13 begins referring to Annie as "mommy." Annie asks what happened to S13 on the bridge, and they (I'll go with "they" until I see different pronouns in-universe) explain how they lost an arm, ran off into the forest, got a seed planted in the hole where their arm was, woke up months later, got possessed by a "shadow man," and then interacted with Annie on that bridge (12.223).
Reynardine, upon hearing this, starts explaining that Annie might have started something bad with that little trip to the woods (12.224):

He warns that his "fool cousin" might retaliate, but when Annie asks what he's talking about, Reynardine retvrns to plushie (12.225).
Annie, Kat, and S13 have one somewhat heartwarming moment (12.226), and with that, the chapter ends!
Anyways, have a happy Wednesday, and I will see you next in 2045. I kid, of course.

Gunnerkrigg Liveblog #6: Zimmy's Story
Here's to hoping I can post more often.
We are on the 11th chapter aka "Dobnaroc, Gamma" (11.181). We start off with Annie and two other girls (11.182):

WAIT, WAIT! Oh, this webcomic is really testing my memory, but I know these two! Their names are... uhhhh... [*checks one of my old posts*]... OK, the one on the left is Zimmy, and the one on the right is Gamma! Did I pass the exam?
But either way, Zimmy is for some reason angry at one of those weird green birds (11.183).
Fast-forward around 9 hours later (11.184), when Kat and Annie bump into Zimmy and Gamma in the library. The latter two ask for Annie's help (11.185). Then, um (11.186)...

Okay, obviously something non-right is happening with the hours and minutes here.
Then, in 8 hours (11.187) (I don't know if that's 8 hours later or if it's 8:10 AM or PM or whatever), Zimmy explains that Gamma doesn't get any sleep because she tries to stay awake with her, but unfortunately Zimmy doesn't sleep, like, ever. Zimmy explains (11.189) that being around Gamma helps to get the "static" out of her head, as some unusual "stuff" happens within Zimmy's proximity.
I should note that, in-between all of this, we've been getting what I assume are flashbacks of Zimmy and Gamma's past. But suddenly we see that present!Zimmy is phasing into her flashback phase again (11.192) as "the storm" is coming.
I am only now (11.193) realizing that the hours and minutes is (most likely) a clock counting down to Zimmy's episodes. Okay, makes sense.
In that case, we are now (11.194) in the scene where the chapter started, as Zimmy throws her stick (11.183). Ah, so they were doing an in media res thing. But at least now, we have an explanation as to why Zimmy hates those green birds: it's a "thousand eyes" and it can see her.
But eventually, it starts to rain, and Zimmy seems to be having fun for the first time (11.196). Not only that, we actually see her true eyes for once:

Okay, still kinda creepy, but less so. And here I was thinking Zimmy just didn't have eyeballs.
Gamma and Annie are glad to see Zimmy happy (11.197), and minus the bonus strips at the end of each chapter, our story ends there! As I said before, here's to hoping I can post more frequently. It seems like we're getting to the part of the story where they actually explain things instead of complicate them, which is nice to see.

Gunnerkrigg Liveblog #5: Pulpy Adventures
Where we last left off, we had seen Annie's history with the supernatural. But today, we are on the 10th chapter of Gunnerkrigg Court, and now we have something completely different:

Yep, this is the title page (10.165). Looks like Tom is going for something a tad different. Either way, the chapter title is "Doctor Disaster."
Our story begins with a classroom (10.166), when suddenly...

Ok, wow, they really are going for something totally different. Very different tone from the rest of the webcomic, right off the bat.
So the students all suit up and follow this scientist guy (10.167), who Anne seems to indicate is a teacher named Dr. Disaster (10.168). It seems as though they're doing a very hands-on sort of class with lots of acting involved. The suits allow them to simulate things (10.169).
Dr. Disaster's simulation has the students all land on the moon to (fake-)fight some aliens called the Enigmatrons (10.172).
Annie finds this whole simulation kinda cheesy (10.174), but Kat convinces her to see the fun side. That's when Kat vanishes and Annie is put in the spotlight for the class (10.175) as she goes on a 'mission' to 'save' her classmates. She rescues everybody (10.177), and by the end of class, she rather likes the unusual teaching style (10.179).
Welp, our chapter is done!
I must say, the change of pace was rather fun. I take it that this was more of a breather episode for Gunnerkrigg Court (as a break from the intricate main plot), and I rather like it.

Gunnerkrigg Liveblog #4: Schedules are my Enemy
You know, for the past month or so, I knew there was something I was supposed to do, but I couldn't put my finger on it.
But, erm... I have a Tumblr account, don't I? And I run a liveblog on it, don't I?
Yeah, sorry.
Anyways, next Gunnerkrigg chapter:
Today we will be reading "Questions and Answers" (9.149), which is frankly what we need in reading this webcomic, isn't it?
We start off with Mort the ghost and Kat (9.150). He ends up re-uniting with Annie (9.152), though not after getting spooked himself.
Do you remember that bird-headed bloke from last chapter? His name is Muut, and we learn that Annie actually met him before (9.154) - back when her mother was alive, I might add:

It appears as if Annie has a history of bumping into odd, supernatural people (9.155). I will admit that, as I read this webcomic, I found it weird that Annie was so calm during so much of this stuff; at first I attributed it to weird writing, but the fact that she actually has a history of this stuff happening does explain her behaviour. Thumbs up, Tom Siddell.
Apparently these persons whom Annie sees are called "the guides" (9.156), and it's rare for a human to see them. I take it they're a race/organization/group of psychopomps?
After some more conversation, Annie decides to go knock on Mr. Eglamore's door (9.159). Eglamore gives her detention, but makes it clear that what she did was awesome even if it was illegal (9.160):

I like teachers who are honest about this stuff.
Mr. Eglamore explains that Reynardine can't be let loose, hence why Annie needs to stay to help make sure watchful eyes eyes stay on him (9.161).
There's one last scene with a cryptic line (9.163) that I'm sure will be important later, and... that's pretty much it! I'd say that I'll post soon, but you know I suck at keeping promises on this blog. So instead, I'll post this funny pannel from the "after-credits" strip (9.164):

Gunnerkrigg Liveblog #3: Fairies and Ghosts
"So I suppose that means I'll be posting my next one a bit sooner," I said, a whole month ago.
Yeah. My apologies for the delay.
Either way, let's get started with today's chapter: "Broken Glass and Other Things" (8.121), which I assume is about broken glass and other things.

I turn to the next page (8.122) and already see broken glass, along with some other things that are not broken glass. See? My prediction skills are utterly perfect. I'm a genius.
But in seriousness, this scene appears to be a flashback. Annie is talking to her late mother (8.123) before we suddenly flash forward to the present.
Having just fallen last chapter, Annie is being carried by two creepy green birds (8.124). They carry her to safety, and Annie takes the chance to walk around the shore.
Then we see something I didn't expect: apparently the birds are robots (8.127). That's new to me.
Then, on one page (8.128), we meet both the shadow individual from back in Chapter 1, and also two new kinda-creepy elf-looking faces; one a pale redhead, one a tanned... "bluehead?" Is that a word? Wait! The page right after (8.129) tells us that the shadow creature from down here is not the one from the previous chapter (but I still think he's the one from Chapter 1).
But either way, Annie is talking to a bird-headed individual right now (8.132)

That sounds kind of worrying, to put it lightly.
Mr. Bird here appears to be some kind of psychopomp, since he mentioned being the one who escorts the dead (8.134). He gave Annie a red gemstone. On the next page (8.135), we learn that it's called a "blinker stone" and that you can summon fire with it by mentally picturing one.
We're in flashback mode again, and out in a single page (8.136). Annie chats with the fairies/elves, who explain that they want to die so they can be reincarnated and go to Gunnerkrigg Court (8.138). Unexpected motive, but alright.
Then a creepy ghost lady walks up to Annie and tries stabbing her with a sword (8.141). But cavalry arrives just in time to save Annie, with the cavalry being none other than... Kat! She's in a hovering vehicle machine (8.142), and she's here to pick up Annie back home. Annie says her goodbyes to the fairies, and she takes Shadow 2 back home with her (8.145).
The final page is an exposition dump on fairies (8.148). Honestly, I expected this chapter to give us some explanation for the "Surma" line from the previous one. However it looks like we'll only get an explanation for that later. Either way, it's been a fun read, and I'll see you all whenever next time happens to be.

Gunnerkrigg Liveblog #2: Surma
Been a while since I last posted.
The name of our first chapter is "Of New And Old." It starts (7.98) with Kat and Annie walking outside the building as a creepy bird thing looks at them. Mr. Elgamore is running as if something is wrong (7.99). What's going on?
Well, we have to wait and see, because the next scene (7.100) is a flashback to that morning. Antimony (Annie) is talking with a grown-up couple named Donald and Anja Dolan. Elgamore is there, and apparently the Dolans have a personal history in dealing with Reynardine (7.101). The Dolans also have an old school photo (7.102):
Well, that's interesting. One of them looks like Annie; perhaps it's her mum? Good observation, because they indeed are (7.103), which means the Dolans knew Annie's parents, yet even they don't know where Annie's father is (7.104). I've read enough fiction to know that it's probably not something mundane like him going off to get milk.
Next up: Annie shows everyone her Reynardine-in-a-Plushie (7.105-106). Seems like Anja Dolan has some supernatural powers to bind Reynardine. But when they prepare to off Reynardine, apparently Annie steps in to defend him (7.108). I'm sorry, what now? Annie, have you read any sort of sci-fi or fantasy story before? If there's an ancient entity trapped in a prison, especially if it can possess people, then it's probably there for a good reason.
Mr. Elgamore and the Dolan family are surprised by this (7.109). They mention someone named "Surma," which prompts Elgamore to pull out Plot-Relevant Item #2, which is this knife:
Assuming that "James" is Elgamore's first name, this Surma person probably gave it to him as a gift. Surma also appears to have been in love with him. But whoever she (I assume they're a "she") is, Surma is gone in some way.
Back at school, Kat and Annie talk (7.110), with the Dolans apparently being Kat's parents.
But then they look out the window and see someone walking on the bridge (7.112). Annie runs out to look (7.113) and finds her old robot and shadow buddy from several chapters ago (7.114). Mr. Elgamore is having none of this "Annie leaving school grounds" stuff (7.115). He rushes over to Annie (7.116) and then chucks a glowing sword (7.117) at the robot (7.118). But Annie starts falling off the bridge, and Mr. Elgamore reaches out to save her (7.119) while yelling "Surma!"
Hoooo-kay! Talk about a cliffhanger!
So, that's where today's chapter ends. I thought about doing a second chapter in one post this time, but today's chapter was already pretty long. So I suppose that means I'll be posting my next one a bit sooner.

Gunnerkrigg Liveblog #1: A New Hope
Today is a new day, and not just because it is Friday. This is my first time doing a liveblog for Gunnerkrigg Court on Tumblr. I had previously been running a liveblog on the TV Tropes "Live Blogginations" section, but I found the formatting very difficult to use, and I consider Tumblr to be far more user-friendly in regards to the way posts are formatted. So, uhh, please welcome me to Tumblr, everyone!
The chapter for today is titled "A Handful of Dirt." The first page (6.86), which has Kat and Annie talking, tells us a few new things: first, it seems like Annie is trying to get info out of Reynardine; second, it looks like Kat has the hots for Mr. Eglamore; last, Mr. Eglamore is an old family friend of Kat's family.
Next (6.87) we've got Kat opening a door to show Annie a whole field:

:O
Okay, apparently (6.88) it's some kind of artificial habitat. So it's not "really" outdoors. The gals eat cherries and goof off (6.90) while laughing like idiots, even when a mystery man walks in and leaves.
Then we have a bit of mood whiplash (6.92-93) as Annie cries about her mother. It seems like Annie watched her mother die, and now she feels tremendous guilt over it. Wow, I didn't expect this sudden of a turn. It also seems like her dad is missing (6.94). But Kat promises to help Annie find her dad (6.95):

That's an awfully heartwarming end to the chapter. I quite liked that. We're also starting to see the mysteries around Annie's family get hyped up; I refuse to believe this won't be super-duper plot-relevant down the line.
With that I end today's liveblog! I quite like how Tumblr gives me more options than TV Tropes in terms of formatting posts. It allows me to link to things much easier, and now I can insert images. That can be fun, as is seen in this picture at the end of the chapter's "post-credits" bit (6.96):

See? Fun!

Gunnerkrigg Liveblog #0E: The Possessor Strikes Back
Originally posted on TV Tropes (8 May 2023).
~
I have a lot of free time on my hands, much with it being summer and all, so I have more time to read Gunnerkrigg. Today's chapter is titled "Two Strange Girls."
It starts with Kat showing off her science fair presentation assignment to her teacher… except the made an anti-gravity generator just on the side (5.70). No, the anti-gravity generator isn't her science fair project, it's just something she made to help with the project (which was something to do with protein crystals). The teacher is, for obvious reasons, more impressed by the anti-grav machine than the actual project.
Apparently, Kat is pretty good at this sort of stuff (5.71). Annie offers to help Kat with her project. As they go to the library together, they bump into two creepy-looking ghostlike girls (5.72), who tell Kat off. The most glostly of the two, one with creepy pitch black eyes, appears to be the most confrontational of the two. They introduce themselves as Zimmy and Gamma (5.73). Kat says something in a language I don't get, whitch catches the more normal of the two (I assume that's Gamma) off-guard. Apparently the language is Polish (5.74).
Fastforward to the day of the science fair (5.75), and (as expected) everyone is focused on Kat's zero-gravity instead of the protein. Kat's mum is even there to visit. But Annie walks away and bumps into the two girls from earlier (5.76). She looks at their project and calls it an abomination, which Zimmy (creepy black-eyes) laughs at.
The next day (5.77), and everyone's experiments are all ruined. If I had to guess, this is Zimmy and Gamma at work. Kat thinks so too, and has motion detectors in the hallway. Lo and behold (5.78), they catch the two culprits as expected. Apparently, Zimmy was out to steal Annie's plush animal (5.79). I recognise that plushie from Chapter 3, back when Reynardine possessed it. Zimmy seems to be trying to get Reynardine to act out, which he does!
It appears (5.80) as though Reynardine has been using the plushie as a host to do assorted villainy throughout the school. But Annie's toy has a sigil on it that keeps Reynardine under her control (5.81) as her property. But it seems like even Reynardine is offput by Zinny's science experiment. They aren't in league after all (5.82).
I particularly like the last two pannels of page 82. "I don't know what you are, but you're so cute!"
The chapter ends (5.83) with Reynardine shoved in a box, Zinny's experiment taken away by the authorities, and Kat the winner of the science fair. Oh, and a lil side-strip (5.84) in which William (the blonde boy) and Janet (redhead girl) are in love.
And all lived happily ever after.
Oh, who am I kidding? There are eighty-four and counting chapters of this webcomic left to go.

Gunnerkrigg Liveblog #0D: Mort the Ghost
Originally posted on TV Tropes (28 Apr. 2023).
~
Hello everyone. My apologies for not uploading since... (checks notes) ... November of 2022. It is currently April 2023. I had a bajillion different school things, and whenever I had free time, this wasn't the first thing I thought of.
Either way, I'm gonna go through the fourth Gunnerkrigg chapter today. It's titled "Not Very Scary."
Our episode begins (4.60) with Annie going back to see Kat. Suddenly, there's a strange "WOOOOOO" noise. The source of the noise is a ghost (4.61). As in, the white bedsheet kind. Annie can't say she's scared.
I'm thinking ahead, because Annie (4.62) already points out that the "classic" bedsheet look just ain't scary anymore. But props for making the door disappear. Annie then (4.63) literally explains to the ghost how to be scary. Lol.
It appears (4.64) as if the ghost took her advice, because now a girl has her balloon whisked away in the hallway. She follows it (4.65) a place full of creepy puppets. A creepy clown (4.66) turns to this girl with a rusty saw and says something in Spanish. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn\'t this where our page pic for Monster Clown comes from?
I was right; that was the ghost at work (4.67). Annie reveals that our ghost buddy is named Mort, and that she apparently knows Spanish.
The end card (4.68) has a redhead girl fight off a bunch of critters, apparently courtesy of the ghost, with ease. Mort is scared of even her.
That's it for today. To be honest, I'm finding this formatting hard to work with (the TV Tropes liveblog formatting, I mean), so I'm sorry if these liveblogs come out buggy.

Gunnerkrigg Liveblog #0C: The Plot Thickens
Originally posted on TV Tropes (27 Nov. 2022)

Hello! Here is my third Gunnerkrigg Court liveblog. Today's chapter of the comic is titled "Reynardine" (3.33). Now, I avoided all fan wikis for this thing, but I heard the name "Reynardine" or something like it thrown around here on TV Tropes as that of a major character. So I guess the plot is moving along now?
The chapter starts (3.34) with Annie and Kat playing basketball in gym, with a blonde kid from last chapter being a douche. Annie kicks his ass. Apparently the kid's name is Winsbury (3.35). The gym teacher, Mr. Eglamore, publicly tells Annie off but also privately compliments what she did (3.36).
Kat and Annie hang out in their dorms (3.37) when we learn that the necklace Annie wears is tied to alchemy. Why do I feel this will be important? Because this feels like the exact sort of thing that will be important.
Suddenly, an attack of some sort on the school! Annie is missing (3.39) ... except she's not (3.40) and she's climbing up from the wreckage. Suddenly we see this HUGE white beastie (3.41) who introduces himself as the titular Reynardine (3.42). He was looking for one Surma, and suspects Annie was Surma's daughter (3.45).
Annie\'s in the hospital and confirms her mom is named Surma (3.47). She sneaks out of bed to find Reynardine. She finds a train (3.49) to some large animal holding cells - "Very Hush Hush, You know" (LOL). She finds Reynardine (3.50) and learns (3.50) the dragon hunter who keeps him imprisoned is Mr. Elgamore, her gym teacher! Annie walks up to Reynardine, who (3.52-53) turns into what seems like fire and tries to possess her body! But he's beaten by Elgamore and gets stuck in Annie's toy fox-thingie instead (3.54). Elgamore explains thar Reynardine is a demonic body-snatcher (3.55) who can't be trusted and that the body Annie just saw was one he was possessing. Oh, and possession will kill the host (3.56). Lovely!
Annie is helped back to her bedroom, and the chapter ends (3.57) with Reynardine seemingly still in her plushie. Dun-dun-dun!! There's yet another loredump (3.58) about a sort of dragon creature called an Orjak. It seems to be the creature that Reynardine possessed.
Well, I was right. This is where the plot of Gunnerkrigg Court starts being more apparent ... I think. I noticed that Reynardine focused his gaze specifically on Annie's alchemist necklace throughout the chapter. I suppose that I was right in that the necklace is important. Can't wait to see what that's about!
Wait a minute. Young girl protagonist, important necklace-thingy given by her parents, family with a secret, bad guy who possesses people ... I think I know why the Foglios recommended this comic. Or maybe I just have the "Guy who has only seen Boss Baby" syndrome.
#gunnerkrigg court#gunncourtliveblog#tvtcrosspost#Guy who has only read Girl Genius reading his second webcomic: “Getting a lot of Girl Genius vibes from this...”

Gunnerkrigg Liveblog #0B: Minotaur
Originally posted on TV Tropes (15 Nov. 2022)
~
Hello, welcome to the second installment of my Gunnerkrigg Court liveblog. Sorry about waiting several weeks to update - remember what I said last post about free time and sacrifices and all that. Also, I learned that formatting liveblogs here is really hard, so I'll try to tone down all the formatting work.
Today we're tackling Chapter 2, which is titled (2.17) "Schoolyard Myths". It looks like we're introduced to a new character here!
It appears (2.19) that our red-haired heroine is named "Atimony", or "Annie" for short. Atimony Carver, alright. The black-haired friend of hers is "Katerina" or "Kat" for short.
They are assigned a project on mythology (2.20), and they decide to enter the ricketty old door (2.22) with an abandoned library (2.23). I\'m only so far in, but given the chapter title I expect they'll find more on mythology than they really hoped for here.
Ah, neat, a hidden passageway (2.24) that leads to a labrynth (2.25). Given that they're looking for a Minotaur, it doesn't take a genius to see where this is going.
Annie also stops to give her backstory (2.26): her mother died. That's sad.
... AAAAND the minotaur is here (2.27) ... and Annie befriends him (2.28). Annie and Kat bring the minotaur - named Basil - to the class for their presentation (2.29). OK, I didn't expect it to be this funny. Basil here gives the story of the Minotaur from his perspective (2.30) where Theseus gets an upgrade in jerkhood.
The chapter ends (2.32) with the white-haired exposition lady from last chapter giving exposition. Here she explains how dorm rooms work.
See you next time! I hope that I have less university work to deal with then.

Gunnerkrigg Liveblog #0A: The Ride Begins
Originally posted on TV Tropes (30 Oct. 2022).
~
Last week, I — M-95 — learned that TV Tropes has it's own designated liveblog section! Isn't that nifty? Now, there is this one webcomic I heard good things about which apparently has a lot of content. So I decided to to a liveblog of it, to make it more convenient for myself. The webcomic in question is none other than Gunnerkrigg Court [Trope Page] by Tom Siddell!
Now, I must concede that I'm new to the world of plot-driven webcomics. I've only read one other before, and it's what introduced me to Gunnerkrigg to begin with. I've tried to avoid reading anything about the comic's plot to avoid spoilers. See, the page on this site for JigsawPuzzlePlot.Webcomics makes this comment about Gunnerkrigg Court: "Fans sometimes joke that for every question a chapter answers, it brings up at least 10 more."
Sounds like a trainwreck of a read. However, that's my jam! The only plot-driven webcomic I've read up till now is Girl Genius, which is such a spoiler-ridden mess that when a character I wasn't familiar with was name-dropped, I googled their name and instantly got hit in the face with a massive spoiler. Apparently Gunnerkrigg Court is even crazier than Girl Genius in terms of wild plot twists. What I take from this is that binge-reading Gunnerkrigg Court is the webcomic equivalent of eating the "Old 96er" from The Great Outdoors. In that case, CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!
As for how much I plan to update this liveblog: I have zero schedule for this thing. Gunnerkrigg time is free time, and free time must make sacrifices to university time and family time every so often.
---- Let\'s start - I'm practically going into this blind, and I've learned my lesson from the last plot-driven webcomic to avoid fan wikis like the plague until I know what's going on. Thankfully the comic's archives are split into chapters, which is good for going back to things. The first page of the comic (I'm going to link to pages like "[Ch#].[p#]" — so the first page is 1.1) is just a title page with the comic's main character. The artstyle is a bit blocky for my taste but apparently the art evolves quickly.
Next up (1.2), our main character (or is she?) introduces us to a school named Gunnerkrigg Court, along with a "second shadow" she appears to have gained. She goes on (1.3-5) to describe her shadow friend - dubbed "Shadow 2" - and how it plans to escape the court with her help. Given those lights on the bridge, I guess the staff know full well that Shadow 2 exists and want him to stay here.
She unfortunately isn't allowed off school grounds (1.6), and given our heroine's "sensible solution" to this little problem, I can already see why Girl Genius gave Gunnerkrigg Court a shout-out. Well, that and the plot twists. She intends to build a robot, but realized that she doesn't know how. Luckily the staff are bad at hiding things with labels (1.7).
So our heroine creates (1.9) our third character: a walking robot! He takes on the task of walking across the bridge with bravado (1.11), carrying our shadow friend with him. There's a creepy bird (1.13), and soon enough Shadow 2 reunites with all his shadow-creature friends (1.14).
Back at school, one of the staff makes the first mention of our heroine's name (1.15): "Miss Carver". Cool, now I don't have to awkwardly not call her by name. A white-haired lady gives a first-hand introduction to how Gunnerkrigg's school system works (1.16); it's apparently located in the United Kingdom, it's divided into four houses, and . . . wait, this is just Harry Potter, isn't it? OK it's not exactly like Harry Potter. I'll admit this exposition dump is worded weirdly, but the gist of it is: there are 4 houses, and each house gets 2 classes a year, with one class dubbed "North" and another dubbed "South". This means that "her" (I assume Miss Carver's) class is Anatomy, which is the "North" class of the "Queslett" house.
And . . . that's the end of Chapter 1 of Gunnerkrigg Court, fellas! Kinda abrupt in my opinion. Tune in for the next time I post here!

Blog Directory & Welcome
Hello. Welcome to my humble Tumblr page. Here, I intend to post my liveblogs of whatever I feel like. Said liveblogs are:
Gunnerkrigg Court (link)
As for some questions you may have:
Q. Do you take suggestions for liveblogs? A. Yep! It's ultimately my choice what I do or don't liveblog, but I'm all ears for suggestions.
Q. On what days do you post? A. Whichever days I feel like posting. Look, I have school, family, and all sorts of other things that mean liveblogging on Tumblr isn't my top priority. While this may be inconvenient for readers, there's no way I'd be able to commit to any schedule I give myself for this blog.
Q. Do you exclusively do webcomic liveblogs? A. At the moment, yes. But if you have a non-webcomic for me to do, I'm totally open to the idea.
