East of the Sun, West of the Moon / 2017

The video triptych linking to emptied aesthetics, formality and the theme of overwhelming fashion and music videos, correlates with current visual trends pervading contemporary pop culture scene and current moods in young art. The unconventional linking of the video with the traditional and classic Norwegian fairytale with distinctive symbolic elements building on the popular wave of current thinking of the emerging generation of artists. The story line of the fairytale highlights the recurring rituals and cycles in a woman’s life in visual opposition to the mass market trends and the capitalist environment.

KULA / The collection follows the principle of Kula gift which is transferred to our environment, meant for a selected group in advance. I am going to alter myself in a position of a shaman and draw an imaginary circle around the group. The entire collection of the clothing becomes a gift and a celebration of interpersonal relationships. The ritual of handover serves for an acceptance

and becoming accustomed with the clothing given. Tactile surface represents energy by which the clothing is charged; meant for an intended person. The clothing gains life and just for a moment the circle becomes complete.
