Were the kingdoms in AFE/AFGC based on any country or culture? Or were they more generic medieval european fantasy
Actually, yes! But they were kept a little on the vague side as well, with some taking inspiration from more than one country and others a little more fantasy than reality.
Acalathoy itself was based off of Germany- specifically the portions of the country that are marshy or wetlands. Some of the buildings are loosely described to resemble medieval German dwellings and the country itself, Durchnässt, is German for 'wet' or 'soaked'.
Olaylark, in contrast, was sort of to have it be the idealized sort of fantasy kingdom, if you get my drift. It's full of passages and pretty architecture, but is somewhat detached from its own location. Olaylark is secluded within its walls while Acalathoy is at the mercy of its heartland. XD
That being said, Olaylark was framed to be in an area that is on the edge of a ocean like the Mediterranean. Filomena herself was an ethnicity that was stylized to match- being based off of Greek, but not given a name as, you know, Greece doesn't exist there.
Though the one that took the most inspiration was Perlosophes, the City of Mages. Despite the name, Perlosophes was built with a mixture of ancient Persia and Babylon (specifically the ancient wonder the Babylon Gardens) in mind. Especially the Babylon Gardens, really. There's been plenty of debate on if they really existed but the idea about them always fascinated me.
But that being said again, I didn't make the culture to similar to real life. Largely because I didn't want to end up portraying a culture I do not fully understand in a questionable way. So, the locations are more inspired by those real-life locals, but the actual locations themselves were more fantasy oriented.
One of the things I thought was kinda cool was that the word magus can mean sorcerer OR a member of a caste in ancient Persia. You better believe I pounced on that!

why does scott drink so much orange juice
He's trying to stay healthy, likes the taste, it's a mix of both. For a long time he wasn't taking very good care of himself so he's been trying to do better. Juices and occasional granola bars are kind of his little pick-me-ups in between meals.

Have you ever played killer in purple 2? It's a longer, more collectables driven game, but it's pretty fun to make your own pizzaria
I have not, but I'm very curious! So, downloading now!

What was Marion Sr/Mari's mother like? Where would she scale on good/bad.
She was a good mom! Kinda the glue who held the family together, being the mediator between Michael and William and being very attentive with her kids. She was also pretty no-nonsense, and often got onto William for being more invested with work than with the kids. That being said, she was good friends with Henry and his wife. She just didn't like him using work as an excuse to avoid the kids.
While Will was in a constant state of putting on an act, the two seemed to have a good marriage. That is, Marion was unaware of Will's dark tendencies, as none of them came out until after she was out of the picture.
While Marion didn't play favorites, she was the closest to Michael. Largely because of the arguments between him and William, to which she was quick to offer support.
In the end, she was a good mother and a good wife, and there's no doubt in my mind that if she had been around for what William started doing, she would've tried to put a stop to it.
...And she probably wouldn't have named Mari after herself. XD She would've named him something like Uriel, or maybe Steve. Enoch was high on the list too.

sorry if this has been asked before, but do you have any particular voice claims for the Home series?
Yes, I actually do have a few! Anyone I don't mention doesn't have a voice claim.
Mike:
The story about Mike's voice is kinda funny. A couple of months after I began the fic, I think? The original Final Nights came out- you know, the game where Mike gets chased around by the Puppet- and I LOVED his voice.
That sort of rough but sardonic edge. It was perfect! ^_^ So, I always imagined Mike's voice as sounding like that!
Alas, when the Final Nights Redux came out, the voice was changed. Instead sounding a lot younger. XD >.< Needless to say, I didn't update Mike's voice to the redux version. I always imagine him with that deeper, rougher edge.
Marionette:
After some back and forth, Mari's voice claim became Elijah Wood. I've liked a lot of his stuff, but I'm a huge fan of 9 and that softer sort of voice definitely works for him.
Though Mari does have a slight English accent, like his father and sister- it's not strong, but there's the edge of it.
I have a clip of an Elijah Wood character saying, "My father died today," and laughing like a maniac that I use as a reference. XD
Chance:
Chance's voice claim/character inspiration was based quite a bit off of John Mahoney. If you're a Fraiser fan, he played Martin Crane. I am, in fact, a big Fraiser fan, which is why-
James Wight:
's claim is Kelsey Grammar. Known for Fraiser, better known as Sideshow Bob, lol.
Ennard:
Ennard doesn't have a voice claim, per say, but over the course of the series his voice has become a little less shrill. This seems like a minor thing, but it's a mix of him not remember Funtime Freddy's voice dead-on and him having to tone it down a little. It does still sound close enough to Sun's to be of note.
Elizabeth Afton:
Circus Baby's 'human' voice, which we've only heard maybe once or twice, was inspired by Susie Brann, who did Alice's voice for American Mcgee's Alice and Madness Returns. Big fan of both those games and it felt like the perfect fit.
Jake:
Jake initially had his own sort of voice, but ever since Ruin came out, I kinda imagine him sounding like Eclipse. It makes sense considering that he really IS Eclipse, in a weird ironic way. Since he and Andrew spent so long together, it would make sense for them to end up with similar sounding voices considering how much is projection.
If I remember any more, I shall post them!

Did Chrissy go to either of the fairs Baby performed at? Did she recognize her at all?
Chrissy went to the fairs with family but she didn't attend either of Baby's shows. Wasn't there at the same time.
The awkward part of all this is that due to Baby's changes, and the fact that Ennard was in the Circus Baby shell during the event, Chrissy doesn't recognize Baby as the same bot. She's just an animatronic who sort of looks like the same animatronic- and considering the Puppet and Security Puppet, it makes sense that she would believe they're unrelated.
The ironic part being that, technically, this IS a Puppet/Security Puppet situation as Baby herself wasn't involved in that incident. It was Ennard in Baby cosplay.

hey mable! i was wondering about accents in the home series. are the aftons all british?? this has been eating at me and i need to know 🙏
Yes, they are! Though Mari's accent's a little less strong than Michael and William's- mostly from being around a lot of people without accents during formative years- and Gabriel and Elizabeth's (Foxy and Baby's) don't come out unless they're talking with their real voices.
William actually managed to hide his accent pretty well when taking on an alias. That's the sort of thing that can really blow a cover, lol.
This reminds me that I got a question about voice claims the other day that I don't think I finished. XD I'll get onto that too to clarify further!

???? i dunno if this is anything but why does roxy say "i dont know where in the holy heartland we are right now" and does it mean anything
holy heartland is such an unexpected phrase to me, that i immediately had to pause reading and come here to ask
Oh, it was just a random non-swear she cooked up. XD Sometimes it's about racing, sometimes the desert, others it's a random grab like that.

that recent chapter im crying. just the reddest of flags for our friend "bonnie". also a very bad omen for monty, he's losing those claws real soon.
There's so many red flags in that Pizzaplex that you'd think they're flagging down the pain plane. >.<

Would mike wear mari merch
100% absolutely would. XD Maybe not as much as when Jeremy turned up to the Pizzaplex decked out, but you better believe he would wear a puppet shirt to intimidate his foes.
And, y'know, because he finds Mari cute. XD

To the dumbass who hid behind an anonymous name and sent me a slur that doesn't even apply to me, why don't you come out from your little hidey hole and give me a real name so I can block you?
Also, a misogynist (not the slur obviously) is against women. I'm a woman. The math doesn't add up.
