Forge A Railroad Spike Knife with Dad. You will get to help dad forge his very own Father Day Gift.
This basic beginner class is perfect for getting started and seeing what this old time craft is about.We will be concentrating on learning about the tools such as the forge tongs & hammer, and how to use them by making a simple knife or letter opener with an all-metal twisted handle integral knife.
Please wear natural fiber clothing and closed toed shoes. Also bring safety glasses if you have them or you may use ours.

Learn the basics of blacksmithing with this new take on on old standard. Introduction to Bladesmithing -Curved Herb Knife (April, 19 2023 6:00 to 10:00 PM)
Led By Adlai Stein
Using the forge, tongs & hammer in addition to basic grinding and hardening techniques you鈥檒l learn how to forge a Curved Blade when you make this knife from high carbon steel. In this one night class you鈥檒l make a functional knife perfect for chopping herbs and decorative handle out of one piece of steel.
To start this project you will draw out the handle and forge your blade. Once you鈥檙e happy with the shape we will help you finish your chopper by showing you how to grind the face of the blade and harden to better keep an edge. A combination of basic bladesmithing and blacksmithing skills make this a great class for beginners.
Please wear natural fiber clothing and closed toed shoes. Also, bring safety glasses if you have them or you may use ours.

In our 4 part bladesmithing class, you will learn how to forge, grind, heat treat, polish and handle your own knife from high carbon steel.
This is a great class for beginning and intermediate students who want to get into bladesmithing . Participants forge, grind, temper and finish a full tang knife from a bar of high carbon steel. The knife will be finished with wood slab handles which will be attached with brass rivets. Please wear natural fiber clothing and closed toed leather shoes. Bring safety glasses and hearing protection if you have them. we have plenty available for loan if you need ours.

Not only will you be able to open any bottle with your new opener you will also be familiar with some metal design techniques to use in your next project.聽

Introduction to Bladesmithing - Forging an Everyday Carry Knife - (Wednesday & Thursday April 12 & 13 2023 6pm -9pm)

Our most popular workshop is now a two night workshop - you asked and we listened!
Learn to forge your own evry day carry knife in this two-night workshop. Workshops are held on the Monday and Tuesday following during the same hours.
You will get started by learning about the tools such as the forge, tongs & hammer as you use them to create your blade shape. Once you have a nicely shaped edge for your knife we will show you how to grind and harden the blade. You will also learn how to make a para-cord wrapped handle. This class is a great way to get the feel of a hammer and what it takes to make a blade.
We are going to be working with temperatures in excess of 1800 degrees Fahrenheit and tools like grinders that could be dangerous if your not cautious. Please wear natural fiber clothing and closed toed shoes. Also bring safety glasses if you have them or you may use ours.
