are we far enough out of the 2010s that I can say that a lot of what was getting framed as intentional queerbaiting in the big Tumblr Popular shows was definitely just writers making homophobic jokes bc they thought the idea of a character being gay was funny rather than any attempted implication that a character might be gay

i'm part of a writing community on here and the number of times writers post something along the lines of, 'what things put you off reading a book, because i want to avoid things people don't like' is making me very, very sad. you are never going to get exactly the same answer from multiple people. write what YOU want to write and if you love your book, other people will love it too

Hear me out, oblivious merman with a reader who can't swim. He's been eyeing you for a long time now, so when the chance arises, he nonchalantly steals you away from the other humans.

He's convinced everyone just floats naturally. Has no idea why you're trashing around and screaming for help - he's courting you! He'd never harm you, so why are you so afraid of...Oh...you're sinking. Is this some sort of teasing? Are you playing hard to get?

(He does eventually retrieve you once you go limp under the water, utterly mortified that he almost drowned his beloved)

STOPPP THIS IS SO ANNOYING WHY DO I WRITE EVERYTHING I WANT TO READ. IT'S ACTUALLY SO? LIKE? it scratches the ITCH wdym i have to keep writing to have more. not to mention that i have so many good wips rn that im like that one me with the child and the spoons of food. gosh. they don't tell you that when you begin to like your writing you are so easily out PACED by your imagination. i have like 3 big fanfics im working on aside from an actual novel GRRRR. i mean what's *looks at watch* three more. 7 total projects that's like so small :')

as someone who has been writing for like 4 years i greatly under estimate just how much ive written. i rediscovered a text fic and liek HELLO IT IS SO FUNNYYY PLEASE WHERE THE CONTENT
