"empowering women by sending katy perry to space for 2 minutes" shut the fuck up. samantha cristoforetti was the first female commander of the international space station and she became an astronaut because of star trek. and there is a real chance she is a kirk/spock shipper

Watching Voyager with my sister yesterday and we were laughing about how everyone on this planet wears basically the same outfit... except no! because the stripe order is different! "hey babe new stripe order just dropped" *stampede at the clothes market*

we really didn't deserve The Good Place. a bizarrely high-budget sitcom telling a longform, highly conceptual story that you need to have been watching from episode one, which was allowed to play out at its own pace and wrap things up when it intended to, and it didn't even lose steam over its four seasons. that's practically proof of the existence of a loving god

I really love The Residence as a show, and I love the characters and writing. It's very fun and compelling.
I have to say I'm a bit confused by the amount of jokes that rely on Australian stereotypes I've literally never heard of? Maybe I just live under a rock, but the Australian based jokes are almost all so confusing to me.
The show will be like "you know, because they're Australian."
And I'm just like "no... I don't know. I'm actually so confused as to what is being implied here."
Am I alone in this???

I'm just saying, "We created a computer to make decisions for us, but it assimilated all of the bias that was implicit in the dataset and now makes incredibly racist decisions that we don't question because computers are logical and don't make mistakes" literally sounds like a planet-of-the-week morality play on the original Star Trek.
