Ninja style Background
I have looked at the classic ninja environment and in most of the films, games and real life story's ninjas where like a shadow and no one was able to spot them. As ninjas where quiet they were able to jump on roofs without making a lot of noise if any at all. The most important weapon of theirs was calmness and control over their body's.


These are Concept art images of how the classic Japan places looks like and these where the best places for ninjas as no one was expecting them to be there. While looking at the images I have spotted that in most of the pictures there is the Torii Gate which basically is a traditional Japanese gate most commonly found at the entrance of or within a Shinto shrine, where it symbolically marks the transition from the profane to the sacred.

As I'm doing an animation I have looked at the art from games and also spotted the gate as well as the Shinto shrine but not always they both appear.

As I wanted to go away from the ninja style I have chosen a more of aa wild place for my character and tried to make it look so that no human have reached it for few years. My character is a robot so it doesn't count as a human.

Ninja style character
As I was making my animation I have came to a realisation that my character is a ninja look alike, the project was to design our own robots but as they are made out of metal they have the typical though of being heavy and loud or easy to spot. When making my robot I have added a two katana swords on his back for it to defend against any danger. This picture shows how a classic ninja looked like back in the 14th century.

Ninjas are one of my favourite themes and characters as they fit anywhere with their specialities. Ninjas are known to be quite and calm which makes them good killers, I have added two swords as my imaginary world is going to be a nice and peaceful place with lethal beast which hunt for food all the time.

This picture shows how two katana’s look like but the main reason for a double weapon choice was the fact that the monsters are going to be about 10x bigger then a human being.

Evaluation of My Animation
By looking at the animation I have created its hard to say for the audience to tell what it takes to do such a thing. Personally I'm happy with what I have produced but there is few thing I will do better or differently. my strong point of animating was that I've spread the time equally and finished on time with all the work needed, my weak point was that I didn't have enough blog work by now I did my best to catch up with this. My was quite easy to do but for me it wasn't enough movement in it, I think I should off make the legs move or the head. As a whole project I'm happy with it and I gave my all to do a lot of work at college times. By looking at my background I can easily say that I drifted off the ninja style but also had few downward on not making any wild monsters and movement in the back. In comparison to other people for example Jair’s, I have done less frames and had an easier job but also I did it in a different style. I have also made my robot look alike a human which doesn't give it that effect of a robot as Jair’s. My animation probably had the least amount of frames as well as no details such as shadows, sun movement or any other small decals. There is a reason for me not making any shadow on the character but making a shadow on the actual background, as the whole ninja style went to far I thought of not adding any details as ninjas are unbelievably careful with what they do and try not to leave any marks after themselves. My animation was made out of 10 frames and a background which is quite disappointing when spoken about it but in my opinion it still has that thing in it.

Reviewing my outcomes
As the whole project was linked to MARS I think I did a good job to make it relates to my work. I'm satisfied with my work but I really wanted to make my own ray gun as I have never used this program before, it was the first session and unfortunately due to personal issues I have missed the lesson. I have learned quite a few new skills in which one of the was using C4D that I haven't used before. I'm most happy with my landscape design as I shows me in a full scale, it shows what I like to do and how I make my work specific. By looking at my room design I think I could of made the textures better and make then suet together on the other hand I am really happy with my object designs that I have placed in the room as it was my first time using this software.

Making My C4D Space Room
I have started to make my room at first I have made two rooms next to each other but as the design began to get difficult I've decided to only do one room and change my idea a bit.
On this screenshot you can see I was already adding some details to it such as controlling board for doors.
This picture show that I have decided to do one room in the shape of a rectangle, there is already a lot in hear and you can tell that I have decide to do an army base room which could be in the spaceship.
This is what I was left with at the end of the session but there is a lot of more details to come.

Research C4D Rooms
Our next part was to make a Isometric room or space ship I have decide to do a room so I've started to research it.
This is an example of a isometric room but as our theme was MARS we had to make them very futuristic, I had a look at some C4D rooms and found picture but I didn't really wanted to do a normal room where my character will sleep/life.

While I was searching through Pinterest I've came across designs that i really started to like and at one point I have decide to do similar room design or at least in the same style.


At this point I knew what I wanted to do.

What is Isometric?
Isometric is a drawing or a 3D art which shows all three dimensions at a full scale of any object of your choice, this is made with just lines parallel to the three major axes.

This is an example of the kind of look that you get when using this technique, if you look closely to each on of those rooms you can clearly see a big difference in all of them. It is quite easy to make this kind of art in C4D which we have used to do our ray guns, landscapes and space rooms.

As you can see there is a lot of details and of course the texture which in my case was a big problem to pick the right one and make it all fit together.

My Rendered Landscape
This is what I have came up with and what I've produced using C4D. I have used these types of colours as I like the idea of joining two opposite thing together so I have made a landscape with spikes and acid which makes it look and sound dangerous. that's why I have added the fresh colours so that people think its friendly but really its a danger underneath a sweet cover.




Then I've played a bit with the settings and changed the date and time so that my landscape actually look scary. This is the outcome and I think that these colours make it look different and more powerful.

C4D Landscapes - Research
As our next step is to make a landscape where our robots could potentially find themselves I have researched the making of game landscapes and how to make then really realistic. I have found few images and on one you can see that its a 3D render and on other you wouldn't be able to spot a difference between a real and digital.


On these images I can tell that these are digitally made landscapes but that's not the case I have researched this topic so that I could get an idea of what I want my landscape to look like.
By looking at this picture I had an idea to make a real world landscape so I have started to look at some flat surfaces and then I came across this picture.

At this point I wanted to make a landscape that will look unrealistic as it will be looked as our imaginary world so I didn't want to copy anything or anyone and make something I like.

Background Ideas
I have decided to go with something i have explored in the past, this technique is called Vector Art so i have researched some of landscapes done using this technique.

This is a picture i have found while i was researching and decided to change the direction and go into more details with it, Ive had an idea to do my background digitally but as its an animation I've sticked with using only pencil and paper even though drawing isn't my strong point.

This is an example of my initial idea an i have decide to do similar layout but instead of doing it digitally i would draw it on paper.

What is 3D?
3D is basically being 3 dimensional which is very common in our world as everything thats surround us is 3D but in term of 3D art there is a lot of examples of this. In which one of them is using a very useful technique 3D printing which could be done by printers, by hand or other tools and machines that use this technique daily.

These days we get 3D tv’s as well as we can watch 3D movies in cinemas, this picture show how does a 3D screen originally look when using special glasses. People also draw or paint in three dimensional style which makes their art really realistic and interesting to look at from a different position.

This is a very good example of 3D street art that is mainly used by street artist, graffiti is also a three dimensional art but you look at it from a different perspective.

From this picture you can also see that we make toys in 3D which links back to my quote from the beginning that everything around us at one point is seen as a three dimensional.

Cinema 4D
CINEMA 4D is a 3D modeling, animation, motion graphic and rendering application developed by MAXON Computer GmbH in Germany. It is capable of procedural and polygonal/subd modeling, animating, lighting, texturing, rendering, and common features found in 3D modelling applications.
I have used this program to produce my Landscape and isometric room design it is quite difficult to understand but when you start to work with it its easy and simple to learn to techniques in this software.


These are the examples of what you can produce using this software but thats not all you can also animate your designs and make them look very realistic.

Ray Guns
What is a ray gun?
A ray gun is a type of fictional device that fires a beam of destructive energy used in science fiction. These types of weapons are used in films such as Star Treck and Star Wars and are used as a weapon of unknown power.

This is an example of a ray gun from Star Wars which is called the Blaster and was used by Obi Wan in the film but also by other characters. The design is very close to a normal hand gun in these days.
In comparison this ray gun looks more futuristic and makes me think what type of power makes it have an unknown force. So in conclusion ray guns are types of weapon that cause damage or injury by the shooting rays of unknown force, ray guns only appear in science fiction.
I haven't been able to make one of my own ones as I wasn't there and at that point didn't know how to use C4D.

Ryan Nagata
This artist specifies in designing ray gun and then digitally making them in a software such as Cinema 4D, he does some amazing designs and uses a good texture ranges which all comes out in to an incredible ray gun.

This is one of his ray guns that he created with explanations to some parts of the design and what functions it has. His designs are very detailed and look realist when the texture is applied, he also makes some of them as an actual model that u can use in films or other productions.

Space Missions - Moon, Mars & Asteroid
Six missions landed men on the Moon, beginning with Apollo 11 in July 1969, during which Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the Moon. Apollo 13 was intended to land, however it was restricted to a flyby due to a malfunction aboard the spacecraft. All nine manned missions returned safely to the Earth.

As well as the moon missions we have been on the mars but unfortunately only using a technology we have sent droits and used satellites to take pictures and rocks to do research if we can send astronaut there.

Secondary Research - Museum
First week after term one we when on a trip to London Science Museum where we had a chance of getting a lot of pictures and research different machines and textures from a moon rock or mars. I have taken a lot of picture which helped me to improve my final room design.



I have used these images at the start of making my robot animation but also I have used the idea of shapes for my space room.
