Griffin smiled at the returned offer, but shook his head. “I’ve found that I let my emotions and thoughts out in a much less… vocal way,” He explained, looking down at the dried paint flecks on his hands. “I appreciate it though.”
Mack hummed softly in an understanding manner before he glanced down at the dried paint on Griffin’s hands. “You’re an artist, that’s really cool,” he complimented then shrugged a hint. “Least I can do honestly. Do unto others as you would have done unto you and all.”

“No news is good news? Makes total sense, and sounds great to me. When drama makes its way over here, I’d like for it to mess me. Is it bad that I think it’s inevitable for some sort of disaster this summer, but there’s a chance that it might be kind and skip on over?” Fiona had not realized that she was holding in way too much air until she released it with a loud, tense sigh. “But then what’s an innocent Grease fan when Sandy dresses like that?”
“I’d like for the drama to miss me too in all honesty, but I’d happily take it if the other option was one of my friends got dragged through the dirt. Don’t think it’s bad at all if you ask me. Whenever there’s a large gathering of people, drama and disasters are basically right around the corner. I’m right there with you when it comes to hoping that it skips over though.” Mack gave Fiona a warmhearted smile before he gave a shrug. “Honestly, your guess is as good as mine. I only had eyes for the T-Birds and admired the Pink Ladies for different reasons.”

“I don’t know, it’s ridiculous if you ask me,” Griffin joked, letting out a small laugh. As the other apologized, he couldn’t help but quirk an eyebrow, smiling nonetheless. “Griffin Samuels,” He hummed, offering his hand to Mack. “And feel free to ramble whenever you’d like.”
“Sounds ridiculous,” Mack replied with a chuckle of his own. “Cool name,” he complimented with a warm smile and fondly shook his head. “I will have to remember that offer though, thank you very much. Same thing goes for you. My ears are always available for rambling, ranting, whatever you want to do and whenever you want to do it.”

“Here’s to hoping we have a nice but ultimately not-too-complicated summer,” Fiona said with a small smile and an awkward thumbs up. “Cool. I don’t really think I’m bursting to share anything right now, but I don’t want that to offend you or anything.” It was rather nice to be on the same level as someone else for once. “Ha, it’s already stuck in my head, but there’s much we can do to stop that. It’s a pretty risque song too, now that I think about it… Wonder if it’s popular because of that or in spite of it.”
“I can get on board with that,” Mack agreed with an awkward thumbs up of his own. He gave Fiona a reassuring smile as he added, “None taken when it comes to offense. Think it’s actually a good sign that there isn’t much to talk about right now, if that makes any sense?” He chuckled as he took a moment to consider why the song was so popular before he eventually shrugged. “Honestly, I wouldn’t know what to tell you. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was a combination of both. The latter reason for the more innocent Grease fans and the former for those with seriously corrupted minds.”

Griffin really had no idea where the other was going with all this, but he wasn’t one to walk away from someone talking to him, especially when the other person was an attractive male. When the punchline finally arrived, he let out a small laugh, shaking his head. “My original plan was to be in a lot less clothing than this, but apparently that’s frowned upon at a summer camp,” he answered jokingly.
Mack couldn’t help the affectionate eye roll that happened once he caught the other’s joke answer. “I wonder why that’s the case,” he fired back in a similar manner. “But thank you very much for listening to my rambling,” he continued with a genuine tone moments later as his smile warmed up with friendliness. “And please forgive me for failing to introduce myself before I started talking your ears off. I’m Mack Monroe, nice to meet you.”

“Depends on how badly you want to get away from the world, but the past sure does like to catch up to the present,” Fiona said somewhat ominously. She grinned. “Hey, cool! Good for you on both fronts, I guess. I’m not really a hungry for gossip, so you can leave it at that unless you’re bursting. You’re not going to finish those lyrics, though, are you?” She really didn’t need to know what was up with her acquaintances’ love lives. As long as nobody roped her into a teiresome situation, she was happy to listen or stay the heck away.
“Well, here’s to hoping that it chills out for a bit and stops giving people such a hard time,” Mack responded before he shook his head as a few polite chuckles escaped. “I don’t have any gossip at hand or in mind right now, but if I ever find myself filled with information, I’ll be sure to remember your offer if I need to share it with anyone. Same thing goes for you if you want to share anything. As for finishing the lyrics, think it’d be for the best to quit while I’m ahead. Because one, not the most appropriate song like I said a little bit ago and two, pretty sure I’d get Summer Nights stuck in so many heads including my own.”

Brielle wanted to laugh– the joke was funny; however, she couldn’t find it in herself to want to talk to either of the Oliver siblings, not when she was this stubborn. “I’m really glad you’re having your Danny Zuko moment, but could you please keep it down just a little.” Brielle asked, letting out a small sigh. “I’m trying to get work done.”
“Sorry ‘bout that,” Mack apologized once he realized who was talking to him. His friendship with Brielle had ended in a way that left much to be desired. But at the same time, his desire to be polite at all possible times won out and an interested look appeared on his face. “Imagine I’m the last person you’d ask, but is there anything that you’d like some help with? Or is it all stuff you have to do on your own?”

“No, you did well! You got through way more lyric-wise than I would have. But there’s always more to learn.” Smiling, Fiona accepted the offered hand. She decided that this particular person had not merited a cold shoulder, which boded well for her mood. “Fiona Coyne. There’s always so many people to meet here. So. Musical fan, or did you meet someone nice??”
“Thank you very much! And I couldn’t agree more when it comes to there being more to learn,” Mack replied. “Fiona Coyne, lovely name and great handshake,” he complimented. “You can say that again. Feels like just about everywhere I go, both here and in general, there’s either someone to meet or to reunite with.” He gave her a soft smile as he answered, “Both, actually. Musical fan plus I think I just met someone really cool.”

‘ shut up . ’ a light laugh , ‘ i’m always happy to see you , dummy . ’ of course he was , they had always been close , that wasn’t going to change anytime soon . or probably ever , hell , mack was one of the only people tristan was really happy to see around the camp yards . most of the familiar faces he had seen thus far didn’t exactly fill him with the most joy , to say the least . ‘ i have to say , i’m kind of totally offended that you never told me you were coming back here . why the secrecy ? ’
“Likewise,” Mack agreed with a laugh of his own. “It’s always an honor to be graced with the presence of one Tristan Milligan.” And that was the truth. The actor always had a soft spot for the other male that he didn’t see going away anytime soon. Plus, running into a loved one just happened to be the cherry on top of an already great day. What could be better than fond memories and time with the people who mattered the most? Then Tristan’s question hit his ears and he shrugged it off with an easygoing smile while his mind went into overdrive. “Coming back was a surprise for me too.” Another truth, but half lie at the same time. Hopefully it would be enough.

Fiona raised an eyebrow. “I don’t think anybody will forgive me if I try to sing along with you right now,” she said honestly. “But can you turn this song into a solo? Otherwise it’s going to be some monotone action going, and that’s not very… cool.”
Mack nodded before he chuckled, “Really should have tried to come up with more for that song instead of just winging it. Or maybe it’s a sign that I need to train up my improv skills.” He shrugged it off while he held his hand out and introduced himself, “Also, I’m Mack Monroe. It’s nice to meet you.”

Ollie nodded “yeah, sure.” he furrowed his brows. he didn’t know what he was expecting but that wasn’t it. “yeah, totally– way cooler!” he smiled softly, his arms crossed over his chest “so, like, why the odd question?” he asked
“Just the weird thoughts I wake up with every morning,” Mack explained. “That and I couldn’t really think of a different way to get your attention. Pretty sure that you wouldn’t have appreciated me calling you a dork then poking you, so...cartoons.”

“You know, Summer Nights isn’t the most appropriate song to be singing right now, Danny’s part especially,” Mack chuckled. “But you know what? It’s summer and I’m pretty sure we all have more important things on our minds. Like how we’re going to stay cool so...” He trailed off as he cleared his throat then sang, “Tell me more, tell me more. Like how are you gonna stay cool?”

“Hey Ollie, random question,” Mack started as he considered how best to phrase this, even though weird conversations were nothing new whenever he was around. “Is it just me or do things seem way easier and cooler in cartoons? Like mysteries get solved in condensed amounts of time and kids can go to outer space in order to rescue their parents,” he continued before he shrugged and soon found himself with a case of the giggles. Once he regained his composure, he stated, “In all seriousness though, that’s how things seem to me.”

It was such a breath of fresh air to be back at Camp Degrassi, both literally and figuratively. Mack had loved every second of being here in his younger years. So many carefree summers had spent in this exact spot, each one full of memories that he would never forget. Now, he was back as a counselor and couldn’t believe the amount of familiar faces that he was seeing. He’d decided to take a quick walk around to see who he might run into as well as look for certain locations featured in various memories when he spotted someone. One of the aforementioned familiar faces.
Tristan Milligan. Easily one of Mack’s favorite people in the world. And when it came to greeting his loved ones, the actor wasn’t afraid to get a little bit weird. So he was careful to keep his footsteps as quiet as possible while he started to sneak up behind the other male. Once the distance was closed, Mack aimed to lightly tap Tristan’s shoulder as he greeted, “Damn man, thought you’d be more happy to see little old me.”

“I’ve noticed that myself. Kind of have to wonder if it’s the people or just the layout of the place. Who knows? Could be neither of those things.”
